Last year we had a magnificent interaction at this contest, and as ambassadors, we said "Why not reorganize it?" Moreover, this time we are not limited to only science fiction and fantasy, we have included almost every genre in this journey for you to write in many genres.

For those of you who don't know, let's first find out a thing or two about this contest.

In this contest, we will give you exactly 15 genres of sentences and you will write a 300-word flash fiction story provided that only one of these sentences is used as the first sentence of your story.

There is an extremely important rule: "You must choose the people you prank with well."

ROMANCE
Love was just a silly game for a popular person who agrees to a petty bet with friends to seduce an ordinary person-and this ordinary person, namely me, I noticed this bet even before it started.

SCIENCE FICTION
The V-2265 was the world's most advanced virtual reality game where everyone was fighting fiercely for a glorious silver book, and so far no one had ever found the hidden silver book-not even me.

LGBTQ+
Maybe someday the sun would rise for us, and maybe someday all the fears would be drowned by our dreams.

MYSTERY/THRILLER
I was enjoying the manga I'd found in the city library until suddenly the main character began having experiences that seemed familiar.

PARANORMAL
The prophecy for the end of all worlds is being written in a book but that page is missing and the last trace of it was in the human realm.

TEEN FICTION
Fifteen-year-old Ruby was the victim of cruel "ugly duck" jokes until a boy humiliated the jokers.

Your word count must be below 300 words. The word count of the prompt is not included. Stick to the correct word count.

Your story entered for this contest must be new. This is a one-shot; which means you can either post it under a book where you post all your one-shot collections that you enter into contests or be published as a brand new book.

You must choose one of the sentences from the list. Please add one of the fifteen sentences on the list as the first sentence of your story, and then keep writing it.

You can submit multiple entries, and all entries must be in English, French, and Hindi.

You can write in any category you want, but make sure you mark the genre of the sentence you put in your pocket to write. Did you choose the sentence of the Romance genre? We expect you to choose the romance genre on the form, as well.

Criteria for judging includes:

Relevance to the prompt - Stories must be relevant to the prompt above and must follow our rules to be eligible for judging.

Grammar and style - Quality of writing, particularly adherence to good grammar, spelling, and punctuation, will be judged.

Creativity - We're always looking for fresh takes and creative approaches to writing.

Every participant will get an And Then 2021 Contest sticker which you can use it on their book cover.

The winning entries get listed on the And Then 2021 reading list.
The writers, along with their winning entries, get shoutouts and promotions in the contest book, as well as on the message board.
Sticker(s) will be given for the winning entry/ies.
The winners are added to an anthology book of participating profiles.
