Challenge: How it Works
You've made it this far!
So, this challenge thing? What's it all about?
Well, a strange/short/deadlined writing frenzy, is more accurate. But please don't leave. I know deadlines can be super stressful, and the work that goes into your writing is tiring. Especially, I know school can take over your life, filling every extra moment with assignments. So I'll try to be easy on those who have trouble speed writing. Still, try.
So, are you up to the challenge?
The basic rules about entering are the same as the contest.
(Please read it all!)
People have three days to sign up.
Registrations will end 27/2/20.
Once registrations are over, the games will begin.
Without a prompt, you will need to create a short story. The story is not a proper short story, as true short stories do not have chapters, but this is just a short book, that you are required to write. Each chapter will have certain criteria, and word limits. Even random stuff like the chapter has to use the word 'ramen' exactly three times, for example. The overall word count, and the normal criteria for contests (see first chapter, about judging,) will determine the winner. One winner will receive the prize, while everyone else who entered will be rewarded to.
The purpose of this is simply your enjoyment, and for a challenge they will push you to your writing limits.
The entry is a single book (one story) with at least four chapters. I will publish the criteria for each chapter in a separate part for easy identification.
I will choose the criteria at random. If there is something you don't understand, or wish to alter, just ask me. I may include phrases, or words that you must include in the chapter, and still have it fit in with the rest of the book.
All chapters must have titles.
If I notice that one of the criteria has been left out in your chapter, I will try to notify you as soon as possible.
When I judge the entries, word count will be part of my judging criteria.
Each chapter should be as close to the maximum as possible.
Your story for the book must be a book of its own, have a proper title, and a cover (if you do not have the tools, or time, you may request a cover here, and I will make it a publish it in my cover shop.)
Please put your word count at the end of each chapter.
The judging will begin on March fourth.
I will be judging by these seven things:
1. Spelling
2. Grammar
3. Punctuation
4. Flow of story.
(I know this is hard, especially when each chapter has random criteria, so I will judge lighter on this one.)
5. Chapter title.
6. Overall plot, and excitement.
7. Word count.
