Earthrise,

A breathtaking sight.

Swirls of creamy white clouds atop pristine blue oceans,

Outlined against the black night sky.

Home,

So close,

Yet so far away.

I'd return,

but I could never stay.

I'd abandon my life of solitude up here,

but down there,

I wouldn't last a day.

Cruel is the world that sent me here to this rock.

Cruel is the ship I never could've stopped.

Cruel is the planet so lovely and blue,

and crueler still the people away from whom I flew.

Yet to cruel I must return,

to a world of hate,

divided and churned.

I must once again walk under cruel skies,

Alongside those whom I despise.

And never again will I see an Earthrise.
