Watt-A-Decade Drabble

A drabble is a story told in exactly 100 words. The @Ambassadors hosted a contest to write a drabble that fit their profile theme for Watt-A-Decade. The goal: to use their profile theme, capture the wintery season, and use the "extra ingredient" below (in italics).

As the snow continued to fall in tiny flakes, the cloaked figure played with the magic in their fingers, leaving behind thedebris of losses while changing the spell with a smile.

My submission:

The empath's cloak swirled and collected crystals from the thin air. She stumbled under the burden of her choosing; paused to decipher the time in the bland, bitter sky.

"Impossible."

Jupiter and Saturn closed the gap. Her internal clock beat a tattoo. You're late. You're late. You're late.

She juggled her burden and shed her clothes between the trilithon: Time, Energy, Matter.

The planets conjoined, unconcerned with her smile, her harried chanting, or the magic in her fingertips.

A flake of dust for each life, the debris of losses, fused and arced and snapped back into her palms.

A diamond.
