Then There Was One- Intro

The cold night air coiled around a lady hidden in shadows who didn't even bother to shiver as a stout balding man briskly made his way toward her, his head reflecting silver in the moonlight. His manner seemed urgent, afraid, and clumsy as he finally reached the lady in the shadows whose demeanour or position had changed.
"Is it done?" The woman coldly asked, "Have all the guests been invited?"
The man wrung his hands as he nodded his head quickly replying, "Yes, of course. Everyone of them, all invited, all coming."
"And the killer?" The woman shot back, "They have been invited too correct?"
"Of course! Of course! I won't tell the police or anyone, I remember," The stout man hastily replied, the look in his eyes one of fear and alertness. They both stood there for a while, the woman's eyes piercing the man's like that of a sharp hawk's boring into its prey's.
Suddenly, the woman nodded her head in a calm manner, "You are dismissed."
The man's whole body seemed to release tension as he bowed his head, "Thank you Madame."
As soon as he said this he started taking off down the road, back to where he came with a feeling of relief as the woman watched from her position with a smirk, "I wonder how far I should let him get," she thought out loud before she tilted her head to the side with a smile, "I think that is far enough."
Stealthily, she pulled out a gun from her small black purse she took with her everywhere and a single shot rippled through the air on that road in the forest. The cold silver light of the moon adding to the feeling of death as the man's blood spilled on the dirt road.
