Prompt: "Take care of her, she deserves it"
It wasn't unusual for Scotland to get rain, in fact it always rained, but at Hogwarts it wasn't supposed to rain as much. It been enchanted that way, to make it see like a magical, unique place. Yet that night, the enchantment broke it's castors magic was too weak, and it rained. A pained yell could be heard from the hospital wing. Hard breathing, on final yell and then silence, only a few seconds later a babe's cry was heard.
Two men outside waiting thanked Merlin when it was finally over and the cry was heard.
At last, after a long eight hours of labor, Rowena Ravenclaw's daughter had been born.
"Rowena, what are you going to name her?" Helga asked her close friend. Rowena looked at the bundle in her arms, she smiled tiredly and grabbed the little hand in her larger one.
"Helena, my beautiful little Helena," Rowena told her, a small smile gracing her still beautiful face, especially after the long hours of labor.
Helga smiled kindly, and excused her self knowing the others would still be waiting for news of the new baby.
"Is she alright?"
"Is the babe fine?"
"What's happened?"
"Godric!" Helga shouted, "she is fine, the babes fine, and nothings happend, now please calm yourself," she said to him lightly touching his hand.
"The babes name?" the other man in green asked.
Helga looked at Salazar with a smile, "Helena," she saw Godric's eyes widen, she squeezed his hand. He looked at her and she shook her head as if saying, 'don't ruin this moment.' he squeezed her hand back in response.
"Helena...but...how," Salazar stuttered out, an act the other two had never seen the man do before.
Helga regained her composure and looked at Salazar and with a light voice, "you stood by Rowena when she needed someone the most, you became the brother, she needed when Bernard, passed away and was left only with the babe," Salazar looked at her, he shook his head and stood up making his way to Rowena's room. Salazar only helped once her husband had passed on, as he was stuck in battle.
Godric shook his head with a fond sigh, "he always liked to overreact," Helga giggled into her hand knowing how true that was.
"Yes, but it's not always you find out a babe was just named after your mother," Helga said, she stood saying they should go and visit Rowena.
The two went into the room, seeing Salazar holding the babe in arms looking at her in wonder, he looked up when he heard the other two enter. Godric went and looked at figure in his arms.
"She looks nothing like that Bernard, Rowena, she has most your features, she'll turn into a lovely young women, just like her mother," Godric told her his green eyes staring at the now waking up babe.
"Thank you Godric," Rowena told him from the bed, her head resting to the side looking at Salazar holding her new child.
"Salazar, you helped me a lot these past nine months, I want you to be her godfather," Rowena told him smiling.
Salazar looked up, he looked down at the babe, "I'd be honored ," he smiled fondly at Helena.
Helga and Godric looked at each other with eyes shinning with amusement, Salazar always so dramatic.
Little Helena grew up in the castle, she was now four years old, she was a happy child and she absolutely loved her godfather, who gave her anything she wished.
"Godfather!" Helena shouted out in glee and ran towards him, Salazar picking her up when she nearly tackled him.
"Hello Helena, now what have you done today?" he asked her and carried her to where the founders meet during the evening after the final classes let out.
"I finished my studies!, I also went and helped aunt Helga at the hospital wing," Helena told her godfather happily and waving her hands around.
"That's very good, I think someone needs a reward" Salazar told her with a smirk.
"Yes!" Helena shouted happily.
Helena loved her home, she loved her godfather, her aunt, her uncle, and her mother who was teaching her everything she needed to know, she was patient and understanding when she didn't understand something.
She had everything, but one day it all changed.
"Salazar! you can NOT keep those children out! Hogwarts will accept anyone!" Godric shouted at him his hand slamming onto the table.
"Godric those pests, don't understand nothing! Thy will bring the school to ruins!" Salazar told him.
Helena was being held tightly be her mother, she watched as both her godfather and uncle go into another argument.
"They have magic, they can learn ways, they are just the same as any other student," Godric said after a long time of just staring at each other.
"Those mudbloods will only ruin the school!" Salazar snarled at him. Helga from her seat gasped at the vulgar language he used.
"Salazar," Helga looked at him, her blue eyes looking into his darker ones. The other man ignored her, Helga got tears in her eyes she looked down knowing that Salazar wasn't going to listen to reason.
"They are muggleborns! not mudbloods, they aren't going to ruin the school! your attitude will end up being what ruins Hogwarts!" Godric shouted the other man.
Helena flinched back into her mother.
A silence filled the room, both men were breathing hard, then Salazar spoke, "Me ruin the school? I can see only fools like you ruining the school, I understand you won't listen to reason, I'm leaving tonight"
Rowena stood up then putting Helena in her chair.
"You can't leave," she told him with a stare, "we made a pact,"
"Rowena, how can I possibly stay when I'm ruining the school," he said with a smirk as he threw Godric's words at her.
"Godfather," Helena's little voice was heard throughout the entire room.
Salazar smirk faltered as he looked at the little girl who was now nine years old, "please don't leave," she said tears gathering in her eyes.
"I'm sorry princess, but I have too," he told her kneeling to where she was.
Helena knew though, this was his choice, they weren't forcing him to leave she hugged him tightly tears getting into his robes.
Salazar was in his chambers, he packed all his belongings, he was making his way out of the castle when he saw Baron, a first year Slytherin who always made him proud and talked to Helena his beautiful little goddaughter.
"Baron," he called him over, the young boy ran towards his head of house.
"Yes,"
"I'm leaving tonight, I need you to do something for me," Salazar said and Baron's chest swelled with pride, of all the students Salazar had chosen him to do this task.
"Take care of her, she deserves it," and with that Salazar disappeared into the air, Baron knew of who he was talking about, Helena, and of course he would try as hard as he could to take care of her while he was away.
Salazar Slytherin, had left Hogwarts, he'd left behind a part of the home he helped to built, he left his family, and mostly he had left his precious little goddaughter Helena.
Helena waited for letters to come, she waited for her godfather to come back, and yet he never did. Baron tried his hardest to help her, keep her company. Yet she was slowly going mad, her studies weren't as well, her heart was becoming bitter.
Helena was finally starting Hogwarts, she had obviously been sorted in Ravenclaw, after her mother. She'd become smug, arrogant, by the fact that her mother came from such a smart and intelligent house.
The 1st day of classes came, she was in Transfiguration she couldn't seem to get the concept. She tried hard as she could, she saw her teacher disappointed she heard the snickers of her classmates, but worst of all her teacher assigned her homework to help.
Helena had never been so embarrassed and so she when she was walking past the Great Lake she bumped into Baron, the boy who followed her sometimes, he was two years ahead of her.
"Hello Helena," Baron greeted her with smile.
"Baron," she muttered crossly, wishing for him to leave already. These people weren't worth her time. Baron seemed to get the idea and moved away to let her pass. Yet he still stared at her. He hoped he to Salazar that he was keeping his promise. Yet Helena had changed so much, since he had left. She was so cold now.
Helena with years grew to be jealous, she struggled with some lessons, yet her mother seemed to grasp everything and anything new thrown her way. She knew it had something to do with that stupid Diadem that she always wore. She had never been as happy as before with her mother, she could have said something to keep her godfather from leaving, but Rowena said nothing.
Helena with each passing day, heart was growing bitter, envy, and sadness at how much she had changed since her godfather had left.
She had finished Hogwarts already, she was done she could leave to wherever she wanted, but before she did she stole her mothers diadem and left Hogwarts, never knowing the concenquences that would follow.
"What do you mean she's gone!" Rowena shouted hysterically at Helga.
"Exactly that" Helga replied angry that she was getting yelled.
"Rowena, your diadem, it's gone as well," Godric told her as gently as he could, but she could hear the hidden meaning behind it's words.
"Helena, my little Helena, didn't steal anything!" Rowena cried, tears streaming out as she collapsed on the ground in hysterical tears.
Baron was ashamed, he had failed Slytherin, he was supposed to take care of Helena, and now she was gone and without a word. She could be in trouble and he would have failed. His heart was clenching in pain he had fallen for her. He fell in love with her throughout the years. Yet Helena never liked anyone, she was so hard to talk too. She didn't think anyone was worth her time.
A week had passed with no news of Helena and Rowena fell desperately ill. She was pale, weak, she couldn't think without her mind hurting. She knew she would end up dying. Yet she always slapped the rumors of her daughter betraying her.
People came and went to see Rowena, and one night Baron came.
"Baron," Rowena coughed.
"Rowena," he said looking at her, then looked away from how much she looked like Helena.
"I need you-to," Rowena coughed, "please go and look for Helena, please bring her back to me at least for one more day," she finished and laid looking at the celling.
"Of course, madam," Baron told her, he went to leave but a hand on his hand stopped him.
"Please Baron, please, take care of her, she deserves it," with those final words he left quickly his heart pounding. The exact words, Slytherin had left all those years ago when he left and never came back.
He sent an owl to her, he followed it until he reached his destination, Albania.
He found her on the coming out of a forest.
"Helena!" he called out to her, she turned her eyes wide. How could it be that she was found. Her eyes narrowed when she saw just who it was calling out to her.
"What do you want," she sneered at him.
Baron looked at the girl he had fallen in love with, she was so beautiful, she had to come back with him.
"Please come back, your mother is dreadfully ill," Baron pleaded with her.
"That's not of my concern," Helena responded with an uncaring look in her eyes.
"She needs you," Baron tried once more.
"Well what of me! What of me when my godfather! I needed him, but my mother made no move to stop him! What of me when I needed help!" Helena shouted at him, her face angry.
Baron couldn't stop himself as he pressed his lips to hers, she struggled and moved away from him slapping at his chest, "how dare you, get your dirty hands off of me!" Helena shouted at him slapping his cheek.
Baron grabbed her arm as it was coming down for another hit, "come back with me," Baron begged her.
"No, now get of me!" Helena struggled trying to think of what to do.
Baron's anger got to him and he grabbed his knife, he stabbed her once in the stomach, her screams filled the air, he stabbed her again and again in different places until she stopped and all he had in his arms was her limp body.
Baron stared in horror at what he had done, his hands were stained a crimson red, he had broken his word twice now, and too the girl he loved. How could he keep living? He grabbed his knife now stained in Helena's blood and stabbed himself. He laid next to her as he took his final breath. His last thoughts, 'I'm sorry I didn't take care of you like you deserved to have been taken care of'
Far off at Hogwarts, Rowena Ravenclaw screamed like she was getting tortured, she screamed until her lungs were raw, she screamed like never before. Helga and Godric had barely gotten to her but it was to late she was already gone. Just like that it started to rain outside of Hogwarts.
Helga weeped and Godric did as well as he held her.
That night the world lost three special people.
Helga and Godric heard the news of Helena and Baron, Helga weeped harder then before, they were all gone. Godric knew what he had to do he left to the owlry to write to Salazar.
Salazar got the letter in a days time, as he read the letter for the first time in a long time he cried.
Why? Why Rowena, why his precious little goddaughter? He should have written to her. He should have just gone back when he had the chance to fix his mistakes, it was all to late now.
'I'm sorry I didn't take more care of you,' Salazar cried.
Witches and Wizards from all over came to the funeral of the three, they all raised their wands in goodbye, they all cried and prayed to Merlin for them to find peace in the afterlife together.
A/N This was a very hard prompt for me, I had so many fandoms, but argh I wanted it to be idk unique and something people hadn't seen before. I thought long and hard and then I realized I could play with the founders stories!
Either way I really hoped you enjoyed it!! :)
