POETRY CONTEST - ROUND 1
Prompt: Write a poem about the seven sins (Sloth, Envy, Gluttony, etc.) Don't mention the name, (Let your readers guess).
Title: Whispers of Green
In shadows deep where whispers grow,
A seed takes root, begins to sow.
A heart once pure, now tainted green,
With silent wish, it weaves unseen.
Eyes that wander, glances steal,
Covetous thoughts they can't conceal.
Dreams of more, of what they're not,
A fire burns with every thought.
The gentle touch of what could be,
Transforms the soul, distorts the sea.
A yearning gaze, a silent cry,
For something more than meets the eye.
In daylight's warmth, a chill remains,
As discontentment courses veins.
The world, a mirror, reflects in part,
The endless hunger in the heart.
For every joy another's seen,
It stirs a shadow, cold and keen.
A longing for what others claim,
A silent curse without a name.
So heed the tale, this woven art,
Of restless mind and aching heart.
For in the quest for what's not ours,
We lose the peace of tranquil hours.
So could you guess which of the seven sins this poem is about? The answer is in the inline comment sections! →
