"This day is not supposed to be like everyday.No,not at all.It is supposed to be full of promise,adrenaline and proving myself."

This is what I had said to myself this very morning and now I regret saying it.Not the promise and proving myself part,but the adrenaline cause when I asked God for adrenaline,I did not know about the creeps which come with it.

Seeing somebody's dead body is fine, witnessing a murder is fine and even seeing a human turning into a werewolf on full moon night is fine.But the the only thing that is not fine,is seeing a dead body which looks just like you on the footsteps of the police station.

And guess what?I saw the latter thing!That too on my first day!Cheers for Detective Samantha Wilson!

And now I am sitting outside the autopsy room,waiting for the doctors to finish off with the post-mortem of the body.With me,is none other than the most successful detective of LA,Detective Adrian Owens who is,like a typical rich person,being cocky.I totally understand that you have created a big name for yourself in just two years but look at me,I have to deal with a corpse who looks just like me on my first day!But that doesn't mean that I am not excited to crack this case.

"Wilson,Will you please stop daydreaming?"Adrian asked me in a cool,collected voice.

Thank you for being so supportive of  me,Detective Owens.

"Can we please be on first name basis?My name is not so difficult to pronounce"I replied.

Adrian looked at me with a irritated face but did not say anything.Uhhh!

"Sir,Ma'am"a voice said from behind.

I quickly stood up and turned around.A man in a white lab coat and a mask hanging down his face was standing a few steps away from me.

As soon as we approached him he said, "This woman,Maria Brown,as identified by the police department is said to have been killed by stabbing ;this is the reason which will be given by my team"

"Thank you"Adrian replied in a authoritative way.

With this,me and Adrian started walking towards his car.When I closed the gate of the passenger's seat I asked, "Who could have put her on the footsteps of the police station in the morning?"

"And the murderer knew when you will reach the police station cause if he had left it for a long time then the old lady who comes out of her house at exact six would have seen her"Adrian said.

"And what about the note we found?"

"Take it out and read it"

Hey Maria,So you got to know the truth,eh?Want to go back to your loved ones?Want to meet your mother's another one?Sorry,but it cannot happen.

"Nice use of the Harry Potter thing"I commented

"Please be serious for a moment?"Adrian growled.

That's it.

"You think I am having fun,Owens,do you?Well,then I am not.Think how much creeps you will get if you see a body like yours on the footsteps of the police station.It's like you have seen your future and found out that you will be left penniless without any friends or family.It's nothing but scary!"I screamed at him.

For the first time Adrian looked at a loss of words.

"Let's go to her home"Adrian announced.

"But Miss,why are you not telling us anything?"I asked.

But the woman in front of us remained quiet.Adrian had lost his patience a long time ago so right now I am the one who is talking to Maria's mother.

"You don't wanna know,so please leave me alone"she said between sobs.

"Miss,we are detectives,we can help you get justice for your daughter"Adrian reasoned.

"She is not my daughter!"

"Wait.What?"I asked astonished.

"I was asked to play this role,I am an aspiring actress.A man in a black coat came to me one day and asked me to do it.I was in dire need for money so I said yes and no,I did not ask him for any details"She replied.

"But why are you telling us the truth now?"Adrian asked.

"Because now I recognise you"she replied.

"Okay.Fine.Come Wilson,we are going"Adrian said.

He was lying.He had  found something,I thought.But like all the times I followed him outside.

When we were in the car again I said, "You have found something"

"Yes I have.I know you are a good observer"he said.

"So?"

"So,we need to do a bit of sleuthing"

"I know that she is lying"

"About what?"

"About not knowing Maria;she was shocked when she saw me and even called me Sam before I told her my name.So,she knows me too"

"But she is not the killer cause she got scared in between the talks and the criminal never gets scared.My personal experience but yes she was scared of something"

"Let's ask the people around here"

In a nutshell,we found out that Maria had come to her house at nine or so with a man and then left around eleven.When they were in the house a lot of screaming which can be heard from the house.

"The man who was here gave me this thing in the morning .I will show it to you right now."the neighbour of the Browns told us.

Then the woman again came back and gave us a letter .On top it was written

BY-YOU-KNOW-WHO

You wish you know me,Samantha.But well,you do.I know you.Oh,yes I do.
I killed Maria because she knew to much.The woman at her house is connected to all of this too.Go arrest her.I am a calligrapher but for you I am not changing my handwriting.By the way,Maria is your sister.

P.S I have left a note on my desk.

"You know this man?"Adrian asked.

"Car now!"

I opened the door of my house and went straight to my father's study and what I saw was horrific.

My father hung down from the ceiling with a tie.Somebody had put him there or he......

All the cheerfulness from his face gone,his eyes blank.

I looked towards the desk and surely there was a letter.I went there with Adrian trailing behind me.I opened it.It said,

You found me.Congratulations,you cracked your very first case,Sammy!I am so proud of you!

Maria found out the truth.She got to know that she has a sister.

It all started when me and your mother divorced.She wanted to keep her children and so did I.In the end,you were left with me and Maria went with her.You and Maria are identical twins.Your mother left LA for good but two years ago she returned.She told me about it.Asked me to meet Maria and expected me to bring you to her house too but I did not and your mum did not like it.I wanted you to be my little secret.I thought that when you will meet your mom ,you would want to leave me so I did not take you to her.But Maria,she found out everything.Came to meet me when you were not here,demanding to meet you.But I did not let her.She grew angry,promised me that she will meet you somehow and due to my lack of anger management I STABBED HER.I told your mom everything,she was so angry with me that she took Maria's body and left.

Today when you left for the police station,Your mum called me.Told me that she has left Maria's body on the footsteps of the police station.So that you can meet her and I get justice cause she was too scared to explain you everything.

And I was too scared of seeing you putting me behind bars.So,I was planning to.....but your mum said that she will kill me.And she is coming to the house to kill me in an hour or so"

If I say I was speechless then it do be an understatement.Behind me,Adrian was calling someone to get my so called mum arrested.Soon he ended his call and came over to me.

"Shhhh.It's alright"he said.

And that's when I realised that I was crying.I crushed the paper in my hand and embraced him.

"I am sorry,Samantha,I am sorry"he said and I nodded.

I don't know for how long I stood there in Adrian's strong arms but what I know is that I cried for a very long time.
