The Bodyguard | An LGBT CEO Romance
Premise: Aiden Grayson is a bachelor and a billionaire who's never had to work for anything. He's left a trail of destruction in his wake, and now someone from the past is coming back to haunt him. For his own safety, he's assigned a new bodyguard: the handsome Julian McAndrew. At first, the two men are opposites forced to work together, but after a drunken kiss, Aiden can't deny his feelings. He throws himself into his vices, trying to sort himself out, while Julian continues to keep him safe. With a blackmailer one step ahead, can Julian protect Aiden from danger? Or more importantly, can Julian protect Aiden from himself?
Teaser:
"Jules?" Aiden grabbed Julian's hand to recapture his attention. "What do you want to drink? I got a coke. Do you want the same, or something different?"
Julian remained at a loss for words, something that happened often in Aiden's presence, as his eyes drifted to their intertwined fingers. Aiden was holding his hand in public?! This wasn't a dream, but real life. Their waitress, undoubtedly envious of Julian's position, rattled off the drink options for a second time. Julian, still somewhat lost in his own thoughts, opted for a Sprite. She noted it down and finally departed.
"Why?" Julian's voice was barely above a whisper. "You're holding my hand. She saw us... I thought that you didn't... I thought we were still..."
"No more hiding." Aiden interjected with a soft smile and lifted Julian's hand to his lips for a kiss. Chills shot down Julian's back as a new look settled in Aiden's eyes. "You're not my dirty little secret anymore, Julian."
1. Tell us about who you are outside of a Wattpad creator
Outside of Wattpad, I'm a goofy homebody. I enjoy reading (and buying books that I don't have space for) and watching low-budget movies on Amazon Prime (at this point, it's a guilty pleasure lol). When I'm not doing any of that, working, or writing, I make sure to spend time with family and friends because life is too short to not take advantage of every moment.
2.How did you start writing on Wattpad?
I think it was a year or so after I graduated high school when I found Wattpad online. I first started out writing poetry, and then I tried my hand at writing stories. I heard about others who posted their work online anonymously and figured it'd be cool to get my work out there and see how people respond to it, so I googled something like 'free writing sites' and Wattpad was one of the first websites in the results. I liked what I saw, so I created an account, and the rest is history!
3. What was the inspiration for your book bodyguard? If you could describe your story in only three words, what would they be?
I wanted to challenge myself and write something that wasn't quite as popular back then, or at least not dominantly featured on the home page, and that was queer romance. When you get tired of seeing the same stories again and again and you want something different, sometimes you've just got to write it yourself. To describe The Bodyguard in three words, I would say it's: relatable, passionate, and messy.
4. Which part of this book was the most challenging to write ?
There are MANY scenes that were emotionally challenging to write, but to keep from spoiling anything, I'll say writing the ending/epilogue was especially tough. The stories I wrote before this book were simply for fun. This book was different in many ways. It touched on serious topics, some of which I dealt with in real life, and over time I got so connected with the characters that by the end, I literally cried while wrapping it all up. I haven't done that with another book since.
5. Tell us about any new upcoming ventures that you may be working on and if you could give any advice to a new writer what will it be
Right now, I'm still writing queer romance and am currently in my biker boy era! I'm also hoping to venture into the world of self-publishing with The Bodyguard. My advice for new writers treating this like a hobby is simple—just write. Instead of stressing yourself about becoming the next big Wattpad hit, please, please, just write and publish what you love. You WILL get better with time and your audience WILL eventually find you. To those who are serious about making a career out of writing, I'd highly encourage you to check out Wattpad's Creators 101 Blog. It has SO much helpful information for aspiring, new, and established authors. Good luck to you all!
