Contemporary Lit is bringing you a sizzling new challenge with a focus on helping you improve your writing while giving you an opportunity to share your work with our community.

Our request is simple. We challenge you to write a scene based on one or both of the summer-themed prompts provided below and post your completed scene in the comment section of this chapter. Our team of ambassadors will be on hand to read your posts and offer their feedback during the challenge timeline. We encourage members of the Contemporary Lit community to offer feedback as well.

Be sure to keep reading through our guidelines so you understand how the challenge works and you're able to make the most of this fun opportunity. At the very least, you'll enjoy some writing practice. At the very best, you'll attract a new reader to your profile and they'll become a fan of your work!

You can choose one or both of the prompts below to write a summer-themed scene and share it in the Comment Section of this chapter.

Prompt #1 - Summertime meet cute (your love interests meet for the first time)

Prompt #2 - Summertime plans gone wrong (the summer plans that your character(s) made don't go the way they'd hoped)

1. This challenge is solely intended to help you improve your writing and no prizes will be awarded for participation. But you can expect to receive feedback from one of our team ambassadors during the challenge timeline listed in the guidelines.

2. This challenge will be active from July 1st through July 5th, 2024. Scenes submitted after this time are not guaranteed to receive feedback from a team ambassador. 👉 Please, wait until July 1st to start posting your work. This will make it more likely that your post is seen by our ambassador team and not buried under unrelated comments. 

3. The word count should not exceed 500 words.

4. You do not need to include the prompt in your post or add it to your word count.

5. The scene must be written in English.

6. To make the most of this challenge, we ask that you write for the prompts provided above. These will not be judged, so we hope you will take this opportunity to put in some writing time rather than posting something you've already written.

7. We ask that you keep the Contemporary Lit genre in mind when writing your scene. (See our Profile Guide for a description of Contemporary Literature.)

8. You can participate multiple times, sharing scenes for one or both prompts.

9. Mature scenes are accepted but must follow Wattpad's Content Guidelines.
