Seasons leaving

Halls full of Holly
The spread of joy and happiness

Christmas tinsel lining hair
Eyes shining bright as the silver bells
I'm chasing the sleigh tinkling in the distance.

I hear reindeer braying
Hurried hoofs blasting through the snow
Leaving me in the dust.

I run and run through the white blanketed fields
Chasing after the ringing of sleigh bells.
I have no idea what I'm doing and suddenly I'm at pause

Frost bites my cheeks in the winter wonderland
Storms billow over me and I've suddenly found myself alone in the field.
I'm in the field of darkness and ice 
I cannot see myself any longer
I cannot hear the reindeer hooves
Only the wind howling in the tundra

My legs go weak and numb in the frozen field.

It was lonely here without the warmth
And the comforting sounds of bells.
The laughter of friends and family
Gone.
Just a void of ice and darkness...

When I least expected it,
Warmth instantly entangled my body
Softly whispering into my ears
And enveloping me in a sweet heat.

In the middle of a barren frosty wasteland
But wrapped in the bright sunlight.

It didn't feel so cold and dark once the sun peeked past the clouds.

I didn't feel so alone
Drenched in vanilla sweetness and joy.

The field was warmed with sunlight
Snow glittering like the ornaments catching the light on a Christmas tree
And I'm here dancing in the snow
Alone, but content.
Listening to the sleigh bells ring in the distance.
