IV
I set it alight.
The ground, I watch it burn.
And watch the smoke as it churned
The skies into chaos.
The fire spread. It spread fast.
I step closer.
Towards my raging child
And urge it so it could bind
My heart. And hope that of all creatures,
These little suns won't let go.
I push a worded paper to the fire
And cringe as it blackens, curls and turns to ashes
As it lives and devours and lashes-
At my subdued mind, as it let goes-
Of all those lies made of ink.
Are they all I have?
I ask the stars as the fire rages-
Those lovely little dreams and pages
Which I burn and shatter,
Which I foster to destroy.
Well, they destroy me.
They do so every time I loved them.
Just like you did.
