"He pushed her, didn't he?" Aria observed as the girls watched the video of Alison and Ian for the millionth time.
"All that mumbling and groaning? Maybe she was gripping the ground because she was—"
"Looking for a weapon to defend herself." Spencer cut it.
Hanna whipped her head over to Spencer, "Why are you snapping at me? I'm just trying to give your creepy brother an out."
"In-law." Spencer stated, "Ian is my creepy brother-in-law."
"Okay," Aria interrupted, "Whatever he is, he just married your sister and he might be a killer."
"This definitely proves he was with her the night she died," Emily said.
"I think we should give this to the police," Valerie said.
Hanna sighed, "Can we just watch this video one more time and figure out what they're saying."
"No, please. I can't watch this again." Emily pleaded, turning away.
"Yeah, Ems right. Let's just give it a rest." Valerie agreed.
The girls all sat around on the couch, cuddling against the pillows for warmth, "Is anyone else freezing?" Emily asked.
They all agreed, "I'll make some hot chocolate," Spencer said.
"Hot chocolate?" Hanna scoffed, "What is this camp tamarack? We can't just sit around singing kumbaya, we have to hand over that video!"
"What video?" A voice asked. Valerie felt her heart drop as Ian walked into the house. And noticing the looks on the rest of the girls' faces, it looks like there's did too.
Luckily, Spencer managed to stay calm and come up with a lie, "Uh, Hanna rented Tootsie, but she left it at home." She explained.
"Well, you're more than welcome to hang with us in the barn. Your sister picked some chick flick on demand." Ian said, rummaging through the drawers. As he turned around, Hanna pointed to the laptop. Spencer inched her way over, discreetly trying to get to it before Ian could see the screen.
"Oh, Emily. I've been meaning to ask you. Are you ready to trade your goggles in for a field hockey stick? You know we could use some speed on offense. Right, Spence?" Ian said. Spencer nodded shortly.
"Thanks, I'm still into swimming," Emily spoke nervously.
"What about you Valerie? Tired of playing soccer yet?" Ian asked. Valerie swallowed hard.
"I still haven't been cleared to play any sports yet," Valerie said. It was true, she hadn't been cleared.
Spencer managed to close the laptop slowly, making the girls all sigh in relief, "What's the matter? Did I walk into a chick flick or something?" Ian asked. Nobody said anything, "Okay, I get it, no guys allowed." Ian walked out of the house. Valerie sighed in relief as she felt her racing heart slow down.
"God, that was close." Aria sighed, "Spencer, how can you even sleep here knowing that he's living in your backyard?"
"We have to give that tape to the police. Tonight." Emily spoke demandingly.
"And when they ask where we got it—"
"Forgot the salt," Ian said, walking back into the house to grab the salt.

Valerie sits next to Hanna, watching her send out emails for the dance marathon. Emily and Aria are standing on chairs, putting up a banner.
"Okay, does this look even?" Aria asks, looking at Hanna who was too invested in her computer to hear anything.
"Earth to Hanna?"
"Sorry, what?" Hanna says. Aria points to the banner, "Oh, uh, yeah, it's fine."
"Okay, remind me why you're the chair of the decorating committee and we're the ones decorating?" Aria questions.
"I can't get up there. I'm saving my one good leg for tomorrow night." Hanna reasons. Valerie rolls her eyes at her friend's excuse.
"Hanna, the printer guy needs to be paid. Did you order six Barracks and no Michelles?" Sean questions, walking up to the table. Once again, Valerie rolls her eyes. She couldn't stand Sean.
"Are you kidding?" Hanna scoffs, "Tell him no Michelles no money."
"Uh, maybe you should tell him. He says this is what you ordered," Sean says.
"I'll be right back," Hanna says through an irritated smile.
"Oh and it's a little low on the left," Hanna points out.
"Can we just break her other leg?" Aria sighs.
Valerie gets up from her seat, grabbing her books for her next class. Aria, Valerie, and Emily all go to exit the cafeteria when they run into Spencer.
"Hey, are we still doing this at lunch?" Spencer asks, her brown tote bag slung over her shoulder.
"If by 'this' you mean taking your laptop to the police, then yes," Emily says.
"But, no one called over there, right? They don't know that we're coming?" Spencer questions, looking between the girls.
Valerie raises a brow, "Why would it matter?" She asks.
"It's just..." Spencer mumbles, "I was up all night thinking and- what if this is a setup? A could've planted this video on my laptop knowing that we'd turn it in."
"Guys, let's not try to second guess A," Emily whispers.
"Yeah, the last time we did that we were freaked out over a horny teenage boy who tried blackmailing Mr. Fitz," Valerie adds sarcastically.
"Yeah, let's not forget that A also tried to kill you and Hanna for knowing too much," Spencer reminded. "We could be walking into a trap."
"We're already living in it," Aria shakes her head.
"Ian... might've done other stuff," Spencer says, sending a subtle glance to Valerie, "But he's not A."
"Yeah, I mean there's no way he'd want us knowing this video even exists," Valerie agrees.
"But it does, and the police need to know what happened that night. Toby gave Alison his sweater before she saw Ian. And Toby shouldn't go to jail for a crime she didn't commit," Emily reasons, causing Valerie to nod in agreement.
"She's right," Aria shrugs, "Hey, I'll drive you to the station during lunch."
After the girls went their separate ways Valerie and Aria moved to a different spot, cleaning the area in preparation for the dance.
Valerie kept looking up from wiping down the table, feeling her sister's eyes on her, "What?" Valerie asks.
Aria hesitates, "I was just wondering... about... you know... you and Jason," Aria revealed, awkwardly fiddling with the rings on her fingers, "I mean, we haven't really had a chance to talk about it with everything going on."
"Ask away," Valerie shrugged, setting down the rag on the table.
"Did you guys ever...?" Aria started, feeling too awkward to finish the rest of her sentence.
"Did we ever have sex?" Valerie finished. Aria nodded her head with an awkward look on her face.
"Yeah, we did," Valerie answered, tucking her hair behind her ear.
"Was it good?" Aria asks in a mumbly voice.
"You really wanna know?" Valerie asks with a small smirk on her face. Aria nods slowly.
"It was... the best sex ever," Valerie said, leaning her elbows against the table with her chin in her hands.
"Really?" Aria asked with a playful smile on her lips.
"Mhm," Valerie said.
"How did you guys even become a thing?" Aria questioned.
"Do you remember that day when we were going through the yearbooks at Ali's house and trying to figure out who are future husbands were gonna be?" Valerie asks.
"Yeah, and you lost your phone," Aria recalls.
"Yeah, well, when I went into Ali's room to go find it Jason was there and he found it first. So, he started messing with me and then he kissed me and then we... you know," Valerie rambled, shrugging her shoulders nonchalantly.
"Wait," Aria gasped, "You did it in her room!"
"Sh!" Valerie chuckled, "Could you be any quieter."
"Sorry, it's just, that she would totally kill you if she ever figured that out. I mean, she would definitely kill you if she knew you were dating her brother," Aria noted. Valerie bit her lip, looking down at the floor. Alison had found out about Valerie and Jason, but it was the night she disappeared, so nothing ever happened.
Just as Aria went to question her sister some more, someone popped up from behind Valerie, "Surprise!"
Valerie turned around to see her mom walking with her and Aria's former babysitter Simone.
"Simone?" Valerie says with a smile playing on her lips. She rushes over and throws her arms around the blonde.
"What are you doing here?" Aria asks, joining in on the hug.
"She's in town visiting her parents so I highjacked her," Ella said enthusiastically.
"Mom we don't need a babysitter anymore," Aria joked.
"No, but my first-period English class does," Ella said.
"Your mom asked me to speak to her class. You know, try to convince them that there is life after Rosewood," Simone said. Valerie could only hope that was true. Sometimes it felt like this town was a never-ending cycle of pain and suffering.
"It's actually a very impressive life. Guess who's a published author now," Ella spoke.
"Congratulations! That's amazing!" Valerie marveled.
"Slow down. Two short stories and an online journal and your mom thinks I'm J.K Rowling," Simone said sarcastically. The girls keep up a good conversation while Ella walks away, but when she returns, she's not alone.
"Okay, so we're all set. Mr. Fitz is in and Simone you are booked till lunch. If you have time for a cup of coffee while you're in town I think he would really like to pick your brain," Valerie couldn't help but look at her sister the moment her mother said that. She just knew Aria was fuming on the inside.
"Say yes. He's very single and very handsome," Ella pleaded. Oh, how wrong she was. But it wasn't like Aria could tell their mother she was hooking up with her English teacher.
"Am I wrong?" Ella asks, looking at her daughter who was wearing an uncomfortable expression. Aria shakes her head with a fake smile on her face.

The girls all meet up in the courtyard where Hanna's sitting at a nearby table looking for somewhere to work.
"Come on, Han. You can look at the help wanted on the way over. I hear Rosewood PD is hiring," Spencer jokes.
"Well she does have experience with them," Valerie adds.
"Just the wrong kind."
"Come on we have to go, we only have 45 minutes," Emily urges. The girls were finally going to turn Spencer's laptop into the police, and Ian would finally go to jail for what he did.
"Wait, hold on," Hanna says as she clicks off tabs on her computer, "What's this?"
"What am I looking at?" Spencer asks, observing the blonde's screen.
"How come it shows your music library is online when your laptop's on your shoulder?"
Spencer pulls her backpack off her shoulder, pulling out the laptop only to be met with a yearbook.
"Why are you carrying a yearbook?" Valerie asks.
"I'm not," Spencer says in a worried tone.
"Where's your laptop?" Emily questions.
"It's in my bag except it's not," Spencer says as she begins digging through her things, "This is insane, I mean this bag has been plastered to my shoulder all morning."
"What about P.E.?" Emily asks.
"It was in my gym locker, but nobody has that combo," Spencer explains.
"The coaches do," Valerie sighs, running her fingers through her hair. It made sense, Ian had to of seen the video the day the girls got it.
↬
The girls were at the dance, watching Ian from afar as they discussed their plan to steal Ian's bag which was more than likely hiding Spencer's missing laptop.
"You're sure your laptop's in that bag?" Aria asked, looking toward the taller brunette. They needed to be sure just in case their plan went wrong.
"There's only one way to find out," Spencer whispered.
"Why would he bring it to school when he knows that we're all gonna be here?" Hanna asked as she shot a subtle glance over to Ian.
"Maybe he thought you'd bail out early," Emily said to Spencer, "Go home and sneak through his things."
"Why don't you?"
"I already did. We need the bag," Spencer sighed. The girls all looked over to the stage when they heard the sound of Ian's voice. He announced the beginning of the dance, making sure everyone knew there was no stopping.
"What if he already erased the video?" Aria asked, looking back over to the girls.
"Well then we know for sure that he's hiding something and we go to the police," Spencer mumbled.
"With what? Our intuition? The cops already think we have something to hide, that'll just give them more reason to set their sights on us," Valerie reasoned.
"Look, we saw what we saw," Spencer spoke, "Something went down between him and Alison and he buried her in the yard to shut her up." Valerie felt a shiver run down her spine at Spencer's words. She hated thinking about Alison's death, but as of lately, it was the only thing on her mind.
Valerie snuck off to get Ian's keys. It was one of the things she was good at. Sneaking around and stealing things without anyone noticing. Along with other things she'd rather not get into.
Valerie crouched down as she tested out all the different keys to Ian's desk. So far none of them were fitting and there were only a few left to try. Valerie just hoped one of them would work before someone came looking for her.
"Need some help with that?" A voice asked, drawing Valerie away from what she was doing. Valerie's heart dropped as she saw someone standing by the door. It was the guy who Emily paid to "fix" her phone.
"Uhm, I was just looking for—"
"A chainsaw?" The boy asks raising his eyebrows in amusement. Valerie stands up slowly, going through a list of ideas in her head on how she could get out of this, "I can pick that for you if you want."
Valerie stares at him for a minute, "Could you close that door?" Valerie whispers, pointing to the door that he was lingering by. Her words only encouraged him to push the door open further, causing her to roll her eyes.
"Feeling a draft?" He asks sarcastically.
"Okay, look, uhm... java junkie, this is way too complicated for you to understand," Valerie spoke. She didn't remember his name, so resorted to nicknames.
"What's complicated? I don't live in a cave I get it. The rich girls steal, pretty girls lie, smart girls play dumb, and the dumb girls spend all their days trying to be all the above," Caleb says.
"Yeah? Well since you think you know everything which one of those categories would I fall under?" Valerie asks as she crosses her arms over her chest.
"Haven't decided yet," He shrugs simply, "And— the name's Caleb by the way, in case you forgot."
"Well, I can assure you that I did," Valerie says, a playful smile on her face, "So, Caleb, how much is it gonna cost you to forget you ever saw me here?"
↬
Valerie met up with Aria and Spencer after trying all the keys and running into Caleb. To her dismay, none of them worked and someone had witnessed her "crime."
"What did this kid see? Did you have to pay him off or something?" Aria asked as she swayed back and forth.
"Thankfully, no. He wouldn't take my money but I'm pretty sure he'll keep quiet," Valerie shrugged as she danced beside her sister, "It's not like he doesn't have his own stuff to hide, right?"
Spencer and Valerie eyed Aria curiously as they saw her staring off into the distance with an angered expression on her features, "Aria?" Spencer spoke.
"That is it! I will kick her back to New York if I have to," Aria grumbled as she went to stalk off.
"Wait Aria stop!" Spencer said as she grabbed the shorter girl by the shoulders, "Before you do something that you regret."
"Spence, let go of me," Aria demanded.
"There are teachers here, and parents— your parents!" Spencer reminded her.
"I don't care," Aria exclaimed before stomping over to where Ezra and Simone were standing. Spencer and Valerie looked at each other before rushing behind Aria.
"We need to talk," Aria said angrily to Ezra, causing Valerie to regret every existence.
"What's going on?" Ezra asked in concern.
"Mr Fitz," Spencer spoke up, "Will you dance with me?"
"What—"
"We're allowed, come on," Spencer said as she dragged away their English teacher. Valerie felt herself sigh in relief.
"Wow," Simone said, "Someone's crushing on their English teacher." Valerie sent a small smile in Simone's direction before staring off into the distance with a distraught expression.
After Spencer finishes dancing with Ezra she walks back over to Aria and Valerie, "What the hell was that about?" Aria asks angrily.
"Saving your relationship," Spencer says, "Five more seconds and you would've ended up on YouTube! That was a suicide mission and you know it."
"What is going on with Emily?" Valerie asked as she watched the girl sulking in the corner, playing with the tassels dangling from the ceiling.
The girls walk over to her noticing her less than sober state. They guide her over to a seating area and Aria walks off to get her some water.
"He shouldn't be here," Emily mumbles as she glares down Ian, "He's not a chaperone he's a killer!"
"Emily!" Aria exclaims.
"Why is Toby at home wearing a lojack while thing freak can go anywhere he wants? Do whatever he wants, marry your sister!" Emily goes on a tangent.
"Emily, come on," Valerie says softly as she helps up her friend. Before anyone can do anything Emily stalks off and over to Ian. The girls follow quickly behind her.
"I know what you did, we all know, and you're not gonna get away with it," Emily mutters drunkenly.
"Emily, let's go," Valerie mumbles as she pulls her away from Ian.
The girls all grabbed their things before helping Emily out of the school. It was certainly a three-man job considering how drunk Emily was.
"Was that tree always here?" Emily asks as she points to one of the trees off in the distance.
"Here take these, she's not driving," Spencer says as she hands Hanna the keys.
"No, I am not taking her home," Hanna protests, "If my mom finds out it was my flask I'm gonna be feeding the bears with Maya."
"Fine, I'll drive her," Spencer sighs.
"No!" Emily argues, "I'm not going home."
"Just crash at my place then, okay?" Spencer says softly.
"You guys too?" Spencer pleads, "I don't wanna be home alone when Ian walks in."
"Of course," Valerie says with a comforting smile.
