Edmund lowered his eyes, biting his lip and he instantly recognized the figure standing in the doorway. The figure sat down on a bench.

"You are the stupidest person I know."
"I know." Edmund muttered, he couldn't bear to look at his older brother.

"Thats... thats why we all love you." Peter said softly. Edmund squeezed his eyes shut.

"I know." He whispered. Peter shook his head slowly.

"O Just One. What was it this time?"

"They weren't saying the kindest things about Narnia."

"Oh."

Edmund gripped the bars so tightly his knuckles were white.

"Please... please tell Elora that..." Edmund trailed off in dismay as Peter shook his head.

"No. I won't and I can't. You shouldn't have been so rash in your decisions."

"Peter, please." Edmund begged. Peter sighed and closed his eyes briefly. He opened them again and looked at Edmund, tears glistening in his eyes.

"I can't, Ed." Peter's voice cracked. "I can't tell Elora that you love her. I-I already had to tell her that you might not be alive when we got here. That practically tore her to shreds. I can't. I can't tell your kids, Edmund your kids. What am I supposed to do? Tell them 'oh you do know your dad loved you, even though he is dead?'"

Edmund let out a heart-wrenching cry and reached for his brothers shirt abd kneeled.

"Please, Peter! I beg you! Please tell them!" He sobbed. Peter looked at the wall. He couldn't even look at his brother.

"I-I-I can't, I'm so sorry, Ed."

Edmund opened his mouth to talk, but before he could say anything the guards told Peter his time was out, Peter left, casting Edmund a glance before he left.

Edmund pressed his face against the cold stone wall. He was crying so hard her couldn't breathe properly, honestly he didn't even care.

He knew his brother was only heartbroken and Peter just got angry when he was sad. Edmund didn't blame him. But the last words stung a little bit.

"I-I can't, I'm so sorry, Ed."
