Annie Chapman (murdered on 8th September, 1888)
Age: 45 years
29 Hanbury street was the murder site. This street was covered with zigzag buildings (some of them were commercial complexes) which leave narrow spaces between them. It was around 5:40 when John Davis, an elderly resident found the body in a yard near a fence with almost her throat lacerated severely, her skirts yanked far above her waist, the knees bent outside with her feet on the ground and her stomach brutally mutilated. This sight shot the bones of Davis with utmost savagery . He rushed from there and found two workmen to show them the scene of trepidation. They followed him nervously and when they found the body, all the three bustled out to search for the police.
Henry Holland ran across the commercial street in the hope of finding a cop. He finally succeeded in so, but when he panted out the news, the cop rejected to go with them as he was on point-duty. Meanwhile, Davis founded the Commercial Street police station and brought down the inspector Joseph Chandler. By that time, there was a throng of people. Police carefully driven the body to hospital where Dr. Philips conducted post mortem and found that she was strangled by a rope and mutilated after her death. Whats more shocking was that her womb was missing and perhaps the killer had taken away with him. This murder had shaken down the entire Whitechapel and filled the streets with terror.
