Chapter 3: A Maudlin Rock-Rose

Poem up top. I think it's a worth it read. Song is next to it.
Korali's Pov.
I felt warm and not a normal warm but a swarming burning up as if I was little sitting on top of rotisserie; baking.
I felt paralyzed though like whatever was cooking me was underneath me, trapping me to the point where I felt like I was drowning in the heat.
I pushed at whatever it was but my eyes for some reason did not want to open. I screamed, because what else was there to do? I screamed blood curdling until I felt slight hands hesitantly moving my arm to wake me up. When my eyes finally opened Max came into view and I was actually disappointed. Where was Jordan?
"What's wrong?" Max asked genuinely concerned. It was dark but my mind didn't register it. "Jordan will be back in a moment, especially since that scream was loud enough to wake the entire campus."
"Wake? Wha-" I looked to my left to see that it was dark outside. "Jordan told me he'd wake me up for class. Why would he-"
"He didn't say much but I'm pretty sure it had something to do with the whole finding your process thing." I squinted still a little disoriented and confused on everything.
"What?"
"Well I would imagine because you are both werewolves that it affected you both. But finding you was very painful for him. Like excruciating for weeks on end."
I only felt like that for a couple of days though. Why would he feel it for so long?
"I might want to get out of your room with your clothes on the floor like that before-" he didn't even get his sentence out before Jordan broke our dorm door his eyes their separate colors running straight to the room and flinging Max across the room. Max hit the wall but not very hard because he was expecting the throw. Jordan growled at him for a second before landing his eyes on me.
"Max, go." I rushed and he quickly left the room closing the door behind him.
"You screamed." Was it really that loud? Where was he? Did he care?
"Something's wrong with me." I mumbled and he didn't even bother asking me to elaborate.
He hesitantly stepped closer to me. He pulled down the sheet I was holding up to my chest even though I was wearing a tank. He sat next to me and wrapped his arms around my waist his eyes clenched as if it hurt him to do. Then he stuck his nose into the side of my neck and inhaled deeply. For me it felt almost erotic and if I wasn't so intimidated by him I probably would've moaned. I did let out a small gasp and grabbed his biceps tightly. He did it twice more before letting me go and quickly stepping away from me. I frowned but he ignored it.
"You'll be fine for a while."
"Wait, what is it- is it my heat?" I noticed his eyes change into his wolf's at the word heat so I probably wouldn't use that anymore.
"Yes. But it doesn't seem close so you should be fine."
"How do you-"
"Shut up." He growled and I closed my mouth immediately. I looked at my phone and the time read 9:45 pm.
I sat up with my legs hanging over the edge of my mattress, my cotton shorts hiked up to where most if not all, of my thigh was showing and Jordan turned away. I was too grumpy to even care to ask what that was about. I tried getting up only lose balance and get a head rush. Jordan then brought it upon himself to stop being an 8 year old and help me up. He raised an eyebrow at me and somehow I already knew what he was thinking.
"I've been asleep all day. I'm hungry." I muttered only to have him drop me back down onto the bed. I landed roughly glaring up at him but he was already out of the room.
About 10 minutes later Max walks into the room with a literal box of food. It was from various fast food restaurants and looked like everything on the menu from most of them. Cailo, Jordan, and Kaliko walked in after him with the desserts and drinks.
"I said I was hungry, not trying to feed the entire building." The only thing Jordan did was raise his eyebrow and sit at the edge of my bed everyone else piling in different spots in my small room.
Seeing Jordan fold his legs in a criss-cross form on my small long twin sized bed was definitely a sight. We both sat sideways he had a couple of burgers, over 30 chicken nuggets, a grilled cheese sandwich, two large drinks, and 3 different desserts spread over his broad, thick, muscular legs-or at least I think they would be muscular, I couldn't tell because of his jogging pants and that it was dark in the room. We were all focus on a movie. Or well everyone else was, I was too busy self-consciously eating making sure I didn't scarf anything down so my mate wouldn't think of me a as a slob.
Maybe everyone was right; maybe he was the only wolf that could not feel a super strong connection to his mate. I mean I felt it towards him, but maybe it wasn't reciprocated. I had the intense need to touch him, to be near him to smell his scent of oranges. But it seemed as if it physically bothered him to be near me or touch me. Maybe it was just because he was out of his pack land though.
I sighed and finished one of my chicken sandwiches heading for the next one to see that Jordan and the rest of the boys were already finished. Kaliko was barely interested in her food; her eyes were on the exploding cars on the television.
When I looked up from observing everyone I met Jordan's eyes and he looked down at my sandwich then back at me, causing me to put it down and start to reach for a napkin. He got the wrong idea; he thought I stopped eating because of him.
"Eat," he demanded putting the sandwich up to my mouth. I hesitantly took a bite, before grabbing the sandwich from him. As I chewed, he and I kept eye contact the entire time. When I swallowed his hand came up and I flinched.
Mistake number 1
His eyes flashed their different colors before turning back to green. He quickly shoved his arm under my pits and lifted me from the bed, dragging me out of the room. He sat me on a stool before heading to close the door we just came from.
He glared at me, his breathing going rapid. Well if he was trying not to scare me, then he was doing a terrible job.
"I would never hurt you."
"I'm sorry. I let rumors get to me." I mumbled looking away from his stoic green eyes.
"We visit your parents tomorrow."
I looked at him abruptly my eyes noticing his calm but demanding demeanor. He was leaned against the small kitchen island his hands spread across the off white counter. His fingers were curled slightly but even like that, I could see how large they were. I could only imagine how large his wolf would be.
"What? They don't know about this yet. I haven't-"
"Don't females usually tell their parents first thing?"
"I haven't gotten around to it Jordan. I don't even understand things."
His face turned into a frown his eyebrows creasing. "Things will be explained when they need to be" Was his vague answer. Then he stared at me for a couple of seconds before lifting me off the chair and taking me back to the room.
There he goes with the not making sense thing again.

I woke up later to Jordan on the phone. I lifted myself onto my feet and only wobbled a bit. My door was wide open leading into a dark living room, the only light on was coming from the kitchen. I took a glance back into my room to see Cailo, Max, and Kaliko on the floor sleeping.
I held my feet light holding on to the walls as support so I that I could creep in to see what Jordan was doing up so late.
I only heard his grunts in affirmation. He never spoke so the person on the phone must have been use to this from him.
"Situation" I heard him mumble. He was talking about me. The person on the other phone must have asked what was taking him so long to come back. When he hung up I turned around soundlessly trying to creep back to my room when I was grabbed from behind. I let out a yelp.
Jordan's arm wrapped around my waist distracted me from his questioning look he was giving me. I kept staring at his arm reeling in the feeling of it on my waist. The tingles and sparks shooting up from that body part was giving me some kind of love drunk or high.
He let go of me slowly making sure I could stand by myself.
"I-I honestly have no excuse." I shrugged not even trying. I knew he was type to spot a lie out of any poker face so there was no point.
He said nothing as usual. He picked me up bridal style and brought me back to my room laying me on the bed and turned to walk away but I grabbed his hand.
"Where are you going?" I hated that my voice came out so soft and needy. I didn't want to seem like that clingy girl or anything. I was just so curious because he was such an enigma already.
"Couch."
"Oh, uhm, there's room for you in the bed I'm sure we could make some-" I babbled nervously not trying to seem too eager or anything. When I cut myself off I looked back up to him to see his eyebrow raised at me.
Jordan brought his hand up and slid it over my shoulder to my chest above my breast. He sat there for a moment doing what I assumed was feeling my heartbeat; odd, but who was I to question him.
He stared at his hand for a couple of seconds before removing it and taking the sparks he was eliciting with him. He walked away and headed to the living room. I frowned and turned trying to let myself go to sleep. It was difficult when my body, my wolf, and my mind knew that he was only a few feet away from me and that I could be near him.
***
I woke the next morning feeling really comfortable, which was odd. I looked up to see that no one was in the room with me, but my mate's shirt was draped over my shoulders giving me his scent. I could drown willingly in his smell.
"Come on!" Max came in with a chipper smile and wet hair. I looked up at him with a 'you got to be kidding me face.'
"We're going to go meet your parents."
When Kaliko finally dragged me out of the bed I was sitting in the back seat with her and Cailo staring out the window.
"This is going to be as bad as giving rock-roses at a funeral."
"It'll be fine Kore, your mom hates surprises but I'm sure this will be a good one." Kaliko reassured but I'm sure she said that to make everyone else feel more comfortable.
My mom did not like surprises and this one would be the worst of them all. I mean sure she wanted me to find my mate, but she always told me that Alphas were possessive creatures and were much more of a hassle. And then on top of that the pack he's from is one of the most dangerous, if not, the most dangerous ones of them all.
Yeah, this visit wasn't going to go on too well. I didn't even know him that well to tell her that she was wrong, if anything he was proving her theories right.
My dad was a pretty chill-hippy kind of person he wouldn't mind a thing.
"Rock-roses?" Cailo asked with his eyebrow raised. His blue eyes were confused and it he was looking to for answers.
"Well Rock-roses symbolize death. And also Poseidon seduced Medusa in a field of them. Let's just say I use the term seduce, lightly because some legends say otherwise."
He looked at me still confused before turning to look at Jordan. "Yeah, you got a weird one."
Jordan growled at him from the front seat, his hand were on the stirring wheel pretty tightly. I didn't know if he was growling because of Cailo's insult/joke towards me, or the fact that Cailo was even bothering to make conversation with me. I had no idea but I just went really quiet and looked out the window.
"Don't worry Kore; I think it's cool that you know that fact." Max peeked from his seat in the passenger seat at me with a bright smile causing me to smile back at him earning a punch in his arm and growl from Jordan. "Oww," He glared at him. That instance made me question their relationship. Usually Alphas and Betas grow up together as best friends but because of how Jordan's childhood seemed to be from the rumors, I didn't think he would have that type of bond with someone.
We drove through the territory quickly, I was wondering how Jordan knew his way already, but I mean being the kind of alpha he's assumed to be, he would have to know these kinds of things in case of attack.
When we pulled up to a modest two story house, I noticed my mom outside in the front tending to her garden. If I could melt into the drain right now I would immediately. She lifted her hand that was holding her small shovel in her hand to block the sun so she could peer up to see who just drove up to her.
She stood up immediately, wiping her dirty hands on her apron and appearing ready to greet Jordan. When she looked at the backseat in the window her mouth dropped open and I honestly had no idea what was on her mind at this moment.
How do you think Korali's mom is going to react? What do you think of Jordan's attitude so far? Do you think Korali is overreacting? Do you agree with her reactions?
This will still not be fully written until TBMS is over. But I will update from time to time because I have soo much inspiration for it. Please share this story! Comment and Vote it means a lot.
