"There's," he cleared his throat and looked at Korali but not really at her. He was looking past her head. "There's only a couple of days till the heat starts and there's a treatment. It will take away the force that's hitting us. Before you to to your parents so you wont be in so much pain."
"I should probably visit my parents today so that I can make an excuse about why I'm there. My mom will like to think it's you. And even though it is, I'd like to not say she's right about everything; even if she is."
"Like I've told you when I first met you. I could care less what people think of me. Including your mother." He shook his head walking a little bit closer as if to intimidate her. "But know that my intentions are not to cause harm to you."
She nodded, "What is the treatment?" She didn't want to do it, but it would help if her brain wasn't so clogged with lust all the time. She would get some time away from Jordan to think and to breath and to feel like she's loved—at least by her family.
Her phone vibrated in her pocket, so she picked it up looking at the screen its glowed Peter's name and she smiled, Jordan's mouth twisting into a frown.
It read 'Hey, my friends are having a wedding. You think you could come? I'd like to see you, and it's an its adventure?'
Korali turned her back on Jordan laughing slightly and ready to send her message back. She most likely couldn't go, she knew that Jordan wouldn't let her go and it would be entirely too far to run away to.
"Is it Kaliko?" Jordan questioned. He only wondered because he hoped it wasn't that human Peter that she was so fond of. He wanted to call the human and tell him to never call back or he'd rip his teeth from his gums one by one.
"No, it's Peter." Korali laughed again when he sent a picture of a droopy puppy saying 'please? I miss you.'
Jordan's growl made Korali look up to see how he close he was and that he was reading her texts. She walked towards the house and into her room, only for him to follow her.
"It would make me very happy, Jordan." Korali muttered gently feeling tired. She's tried. She felt like she was getting nowhere with him. This all felt pointless.
"Seeing this human will?" She only nodded feeling small in the huge room her mate sitting like steel on his bed.
"If you do this I promise not to threaten to leave you again." In her mind she added I will just do it, if need be.
Jordan paused looking at her, his heart heavy in his chest. "Leaving would only hurt us both."
"Yes, but I think that staying here and watching you hate me; hurts worst."
"I don't hate you."
"My arcadia is gone Jordan. You're taking it away from me. Maybe God or fates or whatever got it wrong. Maybe were weren't meant to be. He made the rejection possible for a reason. And maybe we were just destined to be one of those rare examples." He turned away from Korali. He continued to breath and she stayed at my place near the bed. It hurt for her to even speak of rejection, the lump settled in her throat as she said the words. They felt like burning embers shoved up and out of her throat and singeing the tongue.
"Korali, I know you don't understand what's going on. But I do. And it's a burden that surrounds us all. It doesn't need to surround you." He paused and it had Korali thinking that, that was honestly the nicest things he's said to her since he's found her.
"Let me help with the burden" She spoke lifting her chin bravely.
"Fate should never had paired us; I agree" that's not what she meant or even said. She tried to tell him but he cut her off. "You don't deserve me, and I most definitely don't deserve you." Korali took that meaning differently than Jordan meant it and before he could backtrack and tell her that she was too good for him, he'd already dug the whole too deep.
"I don't deserve you? I know I'm not an alpha born Jordan, and I'm not quiet but you're not perfect either. In fact—" She was silenced by his lips on her and his large warm hands on her arms. They were like an oven heating up her skin and causing Goosebumps anyway.
His tongue dove into her mouth making her melt against him and her fingers claw down his arm. After about 10 seconds, he pulled away leaving her dazed and confused. "That's not what I meant. Despite how I may seem to you. I could never hate you. Us—me and you, being a partnership rather than a couple will be for the better, for you."
He looked at his hands in disgust ripping them from off of her and backed up, Korali closed her eyes, wanting to cry at the fact that the heat was having such a dizzying affect on she and Jordan.
"I'll take you. Just—just leave me alone." He turned from her and he took off from the room. She just needed to cry. Just a little. She was going to see one of her best-friends and that was something to be happy about.
***
Korali is practically bouncing in her seat. Her peachy sundress resting slightly above her knees, showing a nice even display of her thighs that were dotted with a couple of moles; but even that was too much for Jordan's wolf. He tried to reign in his arousal although he was sure that she could probably tell by his eyes. He tried not to flash them in her direction, but her voice caught his attention.
"Thank you, Jordan." Those words caused his eyes to snap toward her glowing browns. Korali's eyes noticed his blue and browns quickly, her body responding quickly because of the heat activating slightly in her body. She still had two days of her period left, but the flow was slowing and everything in her and in Jordan knew; all instincts were based on this.
Her intake of breath caused him to abruptly stop the car. They stared at each other for a solid three minutes before they clawed at her seatbelt with jerky, rapid movements.
Korali threw her arms around him as he lifted her out of the seat and into his lap. Her nails dug into his scalene muscles eliciting a growl from Jordan. Their hungry lips lashed onto each other almost painfully, smacking sounds at their release and almost teeth clashing as they joined.
"Jordan," Korali moaned rubbing against his groin, causing a moan to come from him. She broke the kiss and began kissing at his jawline while he ground his body into hers. She peppered kisses breathily, her warm breath only adding to the heat of their skin. His hands gripped her thighs where he knew those moles were and he wanted to kiss every inch of skin they were on. Korali was sure that if they could be a color, that they'd be molten red; on fire and able to destroy anything in their path. His hands slid up pushing her dress higher and higher till it he touched her underwear.
He wanted to turn the car around and drive into the woods and show her how evil he was; how much they were supposed to be together in a bodily way; although he even knew that was a lie. He knew he couldn't. He didn't have a condom with him and he wouldn't want to risk her getting pregnant with—with his genetics. It would be horrifying. He was completely surprised at himself that he didn't just do the right thing and let her go and be happy; he was being incredibly selfish—for the pack of course. He was also shocked that she hadn't simply called him a monster based on the sheer fact of what she's heard about him and his—family.
He didn't want to become that, and he assumed that his bloodline it would cause it. She was a perfect girl and she didn't belong. She shouldn't have to be subjected to becoming crazy. He couldn't let her. Plus, her actual mating would be disloyal to the pack. It would cause and unsafe uproar of history's repentance and he wouldn't let that happen.
He pulled her away, breathing hard. Korali pushed her lips back to his and it took everything in him to rip her away. He could smell it; taste it, her heat was practically here; the last days of her menstrual cycle were dwindling. Her eyes were a bright brown, her lips attached to his neck causing him to moan, his hands tightly fisted at his sides, a small "fuck" escaping off his tongue.
"Korali," he forced but she mewled a small "huh?" against his neck that made him swallow his words. She grinded into him a little. "Korali stop. This should no—" his words were caught in his throat by her incisors nipping his skin. Because marking was completely primal and a male thing, female bites did nothing but act like a hickey; they wouldn't last very long but they were still arousing. It felt so good. So good that it felt impossible that it was happening to him—to evil. Jordan needed to absterge her, as well as evil could at least. He didn't deserve this. He felt as if he would probably ejaculate prematurely so he froze and caught her wrist forcing her into her seat.
Great, Jordan thought. Now he was horny, hot, and hard. He ran a hand through his hair licking his warm lips, tasting Korali's fruity gum.
Only their breathing could be heard, and he rolled down the windows to cool down their racing hearts and heated limbs. Jordan's body decided to calm down as well.
"I'm sorry," Korali said after catching her breath. "I—I don't know what that was." Korali would always remember this as a particularly halcyon.
"That was the heat." Jordan murmured quietly staring at his hands. He'd never lost control like that—nor would he let himself again.
A knock on the window caught the two by surprise, although Jordan would never admit it. He looked his left to see the valet was standing there looking nervously. "Sir, do you want your car parked?" Jordan nodded his head firmly before opening the door once the valet moved back. He was on the other side opening Korali's door before she could realize what was going on. She was still a bit dazed from just a few minutes ago.
She hopped from the SUV, smoothing out her dress and Jordan pushing her straps back over her shoulders.
He didn't touch her soft, corkscrew curly, tresses of hair; so it was fine. She would need to put on some more lipstick but other than she still looked good. Jordan straightened his button up and ran a hand through his short hair. He had cut his hair in hopes that Korali would hate it—therefore dislike him more. She didn't say anything. She commented once that she liked his hair long, so he did the opposite.
Korali quickly turned to the mirror on the side of the car putting on a fresh coat of her coral lipstick before the car drove off. She straightened up and Jordan took his eyes off of her butt.
Korali and Jordan's eyes watched as a man went to the door of his expensive Lexus and helped a woman who was super far along in her pregnancy out. She clawed at his hand, "I'm fine, Carson. I'm pregnant, not handicapped. But my back does hurt." The whine on the last sentence made the guy—Carson's hand go straight to her back rubbing small circle.
"Skarlet if you don't feel up to this, we don't have to go."
"Shh, we're going." She hushed him and she waddled alongside of him heading towards the white gates that led to the wedding. Korali practically sighed at the fact that was never going to be her.
Korali and Jordan walked down the sidewalk and towards the entrance when Peter caught her eye. "PETER!" Korali squealed running up to a male with curly black hair that flopped slightly over his face and a tall sturdy body. Jordan did everything he could to calm his wolf. Beating a human to a bloody pulp was beneath him. But that didn't mean he didn't picture it and want it. His hands tightened with the malice that he was raised with, that he was supposed to have, but didn't want.
Korali wrapped her arms around Peter, missing her old friend's comfort and laughter. He hugged her back long and hard and squeezing a bit. When he released her his eyes glanced up and caught Jordan's glared. He smiled whispering in Korali's ear, "Who's the tall guy glaring at me?"
"That's Jordan," she didn't know what to say—what to call him. But she wasn't going to lie to her friend. "We're complicated, but he's my soul-mate." She smiled up at Peter slightly. Peter didn't know about werewolves or anything magical. His idea of magic was pulling rabbits out of hats.
"Are you sure?" Peter asked quirking an eyebrow up at his friend. "Doesn't seem like your type."
"Maybe that's why he was picked."
"I've never questioned you and Kaliko on your weird ideas of soul mates and I wont now. If you say he's your soul mate and you're sure, then I believe you. Where's Kaliko?"
"Her brother's ma—wife went into labor. Little Lahela is being born and she couldn't miss it. She told me to tell you that she will come visit herself in a week or two."
"Okay," He shrugged looping his arm with her and casting a look that said "come along" in Jordan's direction. Korali knew that would just irritate the shit out of Jordan. He was an alpha, he didn't do well to commands.
Peter steered me into the gated part where the wedding would be taking place. The grass beneath her strappy wedges was leveled, cut to perfection, and as green as Jordan's eyes. She couldn't help but search around for Jordan. She found him seated at a stone bench near a fountain. The Greek sculpture next to him was nothing in comparison to Jordan. Nothing.
Korali turned my attention back to Peter who was telling her about everything that has been happening in his life. She joined in, paying attention and laughing along. It had only been about 3 months since she'd last seen him. He always managed to make her laugh when he spoke about his friends and their hijinks.
"Any girls in your life Philandering Peter?" She gave him a knowing look and he smiled sheepishly.
"There's one I have my eye on," He shrugged and Korali knew that was all she was going to get out of him. Although Peter moved away after the 6th grade, she and Kaliko kept in touch with him—they made a vow to be friends for life.
As they settled for the wedding she and Jordan sat towards the back, she didn't know how he felt at these kinds of things. It was a lot of people and she had already left him alone for more than an hour. Korali felt bad for that.
An old lady had to get passed them to her seat so Jordan and Korali stood, Jordan's arm wrapping around Korali's torso, pulling her back a little more. "You're a very attractive couple." The older woman said and Korali knew Jordan didn't like when people said things like that.
She fixed her mouth to tell the lady that they weren't together but Jordan cut her off. "Oh, he's n—"
"Thanks." Jordan grunted sitting her down with him. Korali smiled brightly at the older lady before fixing the skirt of her dress.
"If you're uncomfortable, I can always make an excuse to leave," Korali was trying to be understanding. He was out of his element, she was forcing him here and she had already spent enough time here.
"It's fine." His answer was simple and straightforward as always. Korali watched a girl and boy about her age running down the aisle into their seats fixing at their clothes. She held in a giggle, the girl's hair was caught in her dress straps and his shirt was poking out of his fly.
As the wedding music started Korali noticed Jordan mouth fix into a frown and his eyebrow crinkled looking down towards the grass. She wanted to ask what was wrong, but she refrained simple because she knew he would tell her to stay out of it.
The bridesmaids walked down first, followed by the bride in her traditional dress, her smile bright and happy. She met her blond husband to be at the front and he took her hands into his own and smiled.
Korali felt like she was a secondary character in a romance movie when they finally said their "I do's."
"I now pronounce you husband and wife, congratulations Mr. and Mrs. Taylor. You may now kiss the bride." Their kiss was sweet and loving. Nothing like the heat induced kiss that the heat inspired between Korali and Jordan.
Jordan watched Korali and the wedding the entire time. He could see the look on her face. He hated it. He was taking that away from her—he wasn't going to give her any of this. He was evil, and she needed to know that.
Once the reception started the dance floor was found by most of the guests right away. Korali and Jordan stood near the door. Jordan merely followed Korali not understand what she was doing. He only stood like a statue waiting for her move.
Peter rushed over to them hugging Korali and squeezing her causing her to laugh and beg him to put her down. Jordan almost snapped he growled lowly in his throat causing Korali to push Peter away and grab Jordan's hand giving it a squeeze.
She let go of it quickly knowing how he felt about touching for too long. But it left Jordan feeling empty without her touch. Jordan didn't like Peter--in fact he almost downright hated him. But the human made his mate happy and killing him wouldn't be in his best interest. But Jordan did want Korali to hate him right? He thought about it for a second till the human spoke again.
"You should go dance Kore. I promised that little girl that you would." Peter gave her a little push after she glared playfully at him. When Jordan saw her response he realized he couldn't do it. Sure he wanted her to hate him, but not because he murdered one of the best humans out there. Jordan scoffed.
"I see the way you look at her when you're sure she's not looking." Peter said suddenly looking slightly up at Jordan to make eye contact. Peter was tall, standing at 6"1, but Jordan had a couple inches over him. "I don't know what you did to make her fall in love with you but don't take it lightly. Not even fate could make Korali stay where she's unhappy." Peter chuckled scratching the back of his hair.
He was an unknowing human Jordan thought. if only he knew that it was exactly fate that had Korali sticking around. And in love? As if. Korali wouldn't fall in love with someone who was treating her so wrongly. He knew she was above that and he didn't deserve her love. Evil couldn't love back.
Jordan just looked at him. He knew so much more about her than he did, and in a way it bothered him. He was jealous despite not wanting to admit that freely. Was this the human that would love her if he wasn't to? He wanted to wrap his hands around his throat and squeeze the li—
"Look at her." Jordan's eyes swept the crowd to find his mate's peachy summer dress. As she danced he could see splotches of those thighs he had caressed earlier that day. "I don't know what she's been up to for the couple months but, she seems different. In some aspects happy in some ways sad. I mean this is dimension for Kore. She's always just had one attitude and that was a shrug and its worth the try. This attitude is tempestuous." He paused watching her dance at the wedding with a small child flailing her arms at a faster pace song. "She seems more adult like. Like she took on responsibility and accepted it."
Jordan didn't speak. Peter was doing most it for him. He was telling him things about his mate, that he should've, but never bothered to pay attention to. It bothered him. "You don't seem like her type. I can say that." Jordan's eyes flickered towards the the human male in front of him. He wanted to frown but didn't let the emotion pass onto his face. Jordan knew he wasn't Korali's type—he shouldn't have been hers at all.
"Kore didn't date much, but you got the whole condescending—the exact definition not some word of mouth definition; suffer in silence, feelings are dumb, kind of vibe."
Korali suddenly lifted her head feeling the two stares on her. She gave a breathtaking smile at the two, aiming it truly at Peter because she knew her friend would have a reaction to her; would care. That thought alone caused an ache slightly in her chest.
Peter waved enthusiastically back causing her to laugh. But Korali did notice Jordan's hand open and close he looked down at it and back at her and she knew. The ardor in her eyes were clear and if there were any werewolves in her near vicinity she was sure they'd smell her attraction to her mate at the moment. Hell any moment for Korali.
"See, I got a smile laugh. You got that look." Jordan rose his eyebrows up at him. "You know, that look of concuspience and pure love."
Jordan's eyes went back to the girl who was smiling at the child. She had the Luna capabilities that's for sure. But he would be committing an injustice to his pack.
"You don't speak much huh?" Peter asked and Jordan just looked down at him, "I didn't think so. Well treat Kore right. She's a flower, delicate, but needed."
The human stalked off towards her and a smile glowed from her as he began to dance along other small children joining. She was more than he deserved. He was from worst and it was cruel of fate to have even placed her in this situation
"What did I do to deserve someone like you?" She had said and that stuck with him the most. It replayed in Jordan's mind like a skipping CD.
He wanted to say "I wondered the same" or "fate being unfair to you and too generous to me". She didn't deserve to be here, he knew that. Life was a cruel and unusual game and he knew. He had to test fate multiple times only to draw the same conclusion.
Korali was an outstanding number of good and he was the complete opposite. Why would fate cause her to be in such an evil situation? What angel had played such a sadistic game with her life? To be connected, bound to life to him? He didn't understand. But deep in his heart, the only small smidgen of optimism he had left, he was glad that she was here. She made him feel.
She was beautiful—almost too beautiful. Her dark eyes peered into his soul slicing his heart every time they'd water to cry because of something he did. Every time he'd remind himself that this was for the better. That this was for a bigger cause. That she would be safe, and in the end she'd realize that.
***
Korali and Jordan were on their last day of Korali's period. She felt a mild burning sensation at her thigh but she kept that to herself, not wanting to be shot with whatever the medicine to stop the heat, early.
"Hey Flower, have you seen Jorda—woah!" Max stopped in his tracks and put a hand over his nose. "I'm saying this as a male, trust me I would never say this about someone mate, but Korali you smell, so good." He turned his head, "This is weird." He saw Korali as a sisterly, but the heat blew the scent of ready female around. Actual family members of Korali would have no effect of her heat. He didn't actually have the urge to be with her or anything, it was just a very strong pheromone of her being attracted to her mate—but it wouldn't go away unless her mate did something about it.
Heat only comes when the mating process is postponed. Its to push along the couple who are taking too long of time to realize fate.
"The heat starts tomorrow." Korali whispered. "Jordan is staying away from me. He's in the office if you need him."
"Well we need you too actually Flower. But I don't know if Jordan's going to let you out like—like that." Max was uncomfortable, Korali could tell and she felt bad. Although this was all Jordan's fault.
"Jordan, Max is here for us." Korali called out knocking against the wooden door. He grunted and she took that as an invitation.
The instance she walked in his head shot up from the desk his eyes flashing blue and brown and staying there. His breathing came out harsher and his eyes dilated.
"Not the time." Max cleared his throat, "there's some sort of plant leading from the forest around this field. We all thought since Korali's better at plant knowledge that she could come investigate." Jordan looked reluctant but agreed to it anyway.
"Korali go dress for heavy winter. You don't need shoes since your body temperature drains from it."
Korali went placed on three heavy sweaters and three jogging pants a hat and a scarf. This was Southern California, there were no harsh winters here. They didn't have snow. She could tell that her smell died down by a long shot because it was enough for Max to breathe in relief and Jordan eyes to go back to their green.
They approached where the wolves were gathered. They were standing far from the spot where the petals laid. They were a bright pretty purple; they were for show. They could be the deadliest if too much.
"Aconitum." Korali whispered her hand against Jordan's chest. He grunted at her touch but she kept the hand there ignoring the tingles to look closely at the heads of the deadly flowers on the ground. The heat was only getting stronger and tomorrow she would need to be away from him or shot with the medicine soon.
"What?" Jordan ground out harshly. He was having a hard time taking her scent in. He didn't want to fuck her on the grass next to the flowers, in front of his pack members, but he was tempted.
"Wolf's bane. In its normal form." Jordan growled causing Korali to jump away from him and step on one of the petals, her foot being burnt from the poison. She jumped again and away from the flowers and her fell onto my back. Max went to help Korali to only be growled at by Jordan.
In history wolf's bane, an numerous of its other names were thought and are poisonous. Shakespeare referenced it as a suggestion to break up relationships type poison, in greek mythology Medea tried to poison wine with some in it. But his dad Aegeus got in the way.
Jordan lifted Korali by the back of her shirt into his arms before glaring a mind-link to Max to tell the pack to clean it up.
It reminded Korali of a puppy being carried by the tuff of its fur by its mom. When they were away from the pack he held me closer to his warming chest as he trekked to our home. Instead we arrived at the pack hospital.
"Jordan I'm fine. Let's go home." Korali didn't like doctors. At all. She would have a fit before she'd go in there.
"Shut up." Jordan left no room for argument. His warm chest felt blistering against hers and her body practically screamed in ecstasy at his embrace. She moaned when he pressed her close and he faltered in his steps.
"No!" Korali screamed and squirmed before breaking out in fake hysterical tears. Jordan went still before setting her down. She broke out into run as soon as he did, limping a little because of her foot.
"Korali." His voice carried throughout the empty space so she tried to pick up her pace.
The house near the far end of the field that she saw had the lights on when she first gotten there was the pack doctors hospital of sorts. She wasn't going there. She ran across the open green, not daring to look back; although she knew that he was an alpha, he could easily catch her.
After a few seconds of running Korali looked to her right to see a wolf that was a dark brown color was running at the same pace. He growled at her but when she kept running it only made him angrier.
Korali knew this was Jordan. He glared and pounced, giving her a short burst of avinosis as his body collided with hers. He threw them so that his body took the impact of the ground and she landed on top. He quickly turned his body so that he was over her and staring down into her eyes.
Jordan's heavy breathing on her face, his teeth beard, and his ears were low. He was growling at her again. She wasn't going to cry–she couldn't, that would only show him that she was weak and despite her perseverance, she and her wolf wanted him no matter how much he seemed to not like them–or rather her.
"Jay?" Max asked hesitantly, when did he appear; Korali didn't know.
Jordan turned his head and gave a warning growl to him, because Max was stepping closer while he was enraged and sadly he listened to him. Max gave her a sad pitiful smile and left her here to face Jordan's wrath. Its been known that werewolves are unable to hurt their mate on purpose, but maybe that didn't apply to Jordan.
When he turned back to Korali and started to lean his snout down she flinched–which he didn't like at all. When she opened my eyes again, Jordan's eyes were flickering from his normal eye color to the two colors of his wolf's.
Jordan started to whine burying his head into her throat. She wasn't use to affection from him and knew it wasn't smart to get use to it. But the feeling was all too wonderful. It felt like all Korali's favorite things combined. It felt anomic when compared to everything else between them. But the heat caused a lot of things to happen.
She felt his body twisting and opened her eyes to find Jordan in his human body completely naked and on top of her. His face was blank as he stared for a little. She released her grip around his neck and slid her hands leisurely down his shoulders and laid herself back on the ground. His eyes flashed again before rising off of Korali. So many ideas flashed in his head at what was possible to happen in that moment, but his self restraint was stronger than that—he would force it to be.
Korali tried to avert her eyes away from his package but as she was trying to get up–without any help from Jordan, because he never offered it. Her eyes couldn't help but look down. It was at full stance and something for him to be proud of. She looked away embarrassed and waiting for him to scold me but he didn't. When she looked into his eyes they were blue and brown; his wolf's lust was showing literally and figuratively.
"Korali," his voice was coated and thick with lust. "Why did you run? My wolf doesn't like that?"
"Only your wolf?" She doesn't know why she even asked. She felt like such an idiot.
"No. I don't either. My pack members know not to run from me."
She looked away and down at the small dandelions growing in the grass that needed to be cut.
"Your foot. We're going to the hospital," he grabbed her wrist tightly—not enough to hurt, but enough to where she'd hurt herself if she ran away.
"No!" She yelled forcefully, acting like a child who didn't get their way.
He raised an eyebrow. "Yes." He grabbed Korali's hand, pulling her into his arms and dragging her back to the big white building. She tried the tears again only for him to wince but manage out.
"The tears aren't going to work."
He managed to get her into a room and onto a bed tied up. She squirmed and tried to get out but when she couldn't she glared at him.
The doctor walked in surprised to see Jordan here.
"Oh, good afternoon Alpha, Luna," he greeted bowing his head.
"So what seems to be the problem?"
"There is no problem. Now can you untie me?" Korali didn't care about the burn on her foot, she just wanted to be as far away from Jordan as possible. The burning was rising from her thigh and going to uncomfortable places. It wasn't in the way of a yeast infection or a rash, it was just an uncomfortable yearning and terrible horniness.
Jordan growled again causing the doctor to look at him for answers. "Wolf's bane on her foot." He mumbled and even with werewolf hearing Korali was surprised the doctor heard it. But he did and went into a cupboard and pulled out some sort of thick cream. It was a pale blue in the color but thick like a butter or deep conditioning treatment/hair mask.
"Korali this is going to feel really cold but the burning will stop and then we'll wrap your foot and then you can go." She swallowed and nodded. She wasn't necessarily even feeling the burn on her foot. The burn elsewhere was something that require and forcefully made it clear that the one on her foot didn't really matter.
The doctor placed the balm on her foot Jordan not taking his eyes off of it. When she winced he growled at the doctor who just chuckled not taking his threat seriously. It made Korali have somewhat of a bit of happiness that he at least cared that much. She knew its little but it felt good. Anything from him other than the cold shoulder was good.
"Doctor, what does the medicine to stop the heat do?" Korali was curious. She didn't want to inject her body with anything that wasn't safe.
"Oh nothing that's not reversible. It may have slight side effects though. Cold or hot flashes, vivid dreams, and mild headaches." He rattled on but Korali and Jordan were both lost in thought.
"Can I be—be away from Jordan and be fine?" She knew it was for the best. It was the only way she'd be able to get away from him and be perspicacious. She needed this freedom. Because being around him only made her think of two possible outcomes and they both seemed unfair to herself.
"I believe so. As all medicines go, effects vary on the patient."
As he carried her home she was constantly switching from gazing up at him, to burying her head in his arm and smelling him. She knew it'd be close to the only shot I would get to do this, if not for a while, or any.
To be honest Korali figured Jordan would probably mark her within the time of him having too much pent up sexual energy or when he wanted to keep her quiet or something. She knew she was going to go through heat alone. She knew he wasn't going to mark her during that time even though it would be the easiest time and she doubted that medicine would work, it wasn't natural and heat was. He said he wouldn't touch other women and Jordan's vows are always serious, he doesn't joke, so she knows he means it. It was either they sleep together or masturbation and he didn't seem like the type to Korali.
"Stop." His voice broke Korali out of her daydreaming of him.
"Huh?"
"Stop gazing up at me like that. Its unsettling."
"Like what?" Her voice couldn't help but change into some kind of seductive tone, flirting if that was possible for them.
"Like that. I'm taking you home to your room." He told her as if he knew where her thoughts were. And even if he was telling the truth, it made her angry that he'd just assume. Although stupid of her because she knew that he could obviously smell her attraction to him at the moment.
"What? It's just the heat. Why would I let someone who hates me touch me? There's plenty of guys who would love the privilege of being this close to me." His grip got tighter on me almost painful.
"No other guy will ever touch you." Korali hoped that didn't mean him included.
"Never said I'd let them. My own mate treats me like poison." They arrived at the house and Korali pushed herself out of his arms limping up the stairs and to her room and slamming the door.
"Stop acting like a child Korali!"
"Stop treating me like a child or a prisoner and treat me like your mate."
"I already called your parents earlier. Get some shoes on. I'm taking you there now."
He was taking Korali to her parents so she could lie to their face and make some excuse about why she needed to visit for a couple days. Her home being only a little while away made it perfect for her to just up and leave to come back here for her shot of meds and then be on her way.
How did you like the before the wedding scene? Did you like Peter and what he said about Korali? How do you think that made Jordan truly feel? Jordan making Kore go get her foot treated? What did you think about the wolfs bane showing up? Should Jordan worry about letting Korali go to her parents because of it? Did you like hearing Jordan's thoughts? How do you think the excuse with her parents will go?
