CHAPTER 13

The dance studio looked more like a mini market with dance and drama team scattered here and there. Noisy and the confined space smelled terrible than a fish market. 'Why aren't the windows open?'

The drama members had spread themselves almost half of the dance studio to practice their play, leaving the dance team a very little space to use.

Anuradha walked in the studio clapping her hands to get attention of the noisy bunch. "Everyone attention! Good news!!"

"Dancers you will now have the entire studio for yourselves, the management have finally given approval for us to use the smaller hall next to the auditorium." Everyone stood still and looked puzzled as though she had said something out of context.

"Let's move guys" after a momentary silent everyone cheered and started to move to the hall. 'Probably the smell is the reason for the delay in their respond?'

Last week have been a week of cramping in this dance studio and Anuradha had no choice but to listen all the complaints from both the actors and dancers due to lack of space and had to settle the bickering between the teams.

From a distance a pair of eyes filled with enviousness stared at the three who were in the midst of a conversation. Anuradha, Christopher and Manohar.

"Hey, president!" Audrey, the girl who is leading the dance team called as soon as Manohar and Christopher left.
"Thanks for making it quick" she said with a tight smile.

"That's part of my job" Anuradha casually affirmed.

"Anyways, I'm glad you are not in the dance team." She confessed.

"Oh... I'm glad too." Anuradha walked away but stopped, she thought for a second before going back to Audrey. "You seem to be happy about it" she asked.

"Absolutely, at least you won't be in the spotlight this time" Audrey huffed circling around Anuradha.

"Spotlight?"

"Are you going to deny it? The choreographer always picks you to be the lead and now in drama to top it off you are the president of the club, you are outshining everyone."

"Are you okay, Audrey. Me and outshining others? That too in drama? Ha... Catharine and Melisa are way better artists than I am, Audrey. You are misunderstanding things"

"Right, that might be wrong but Anuradha is good, she is excellent, multitalented, pretty, Christopher's butterfly, Cameron's gorgeous and now Manohar's Radha." Audrey made a face that annoyed Anuradha. "You have always been the centre of attention everywhere, don't you?" Audrey tautly whispered.

"I don't claim to be all that, Audrey. I'm just me being. By the way, are you jealous, Audrey? I mean what's the point of you telling me how you feel about my friends calling me by different names. I don't get it" the conversation seems to be trailing off track and Anuradha was quick to figure out that Audrey wasn't happy with Anuradha's fame and her acquaintance.

Plus what surprised her even more was the quiet Audrey started to talk.

A moment of silent followed as Anuradha waited patiently if Audrey had anything else to say about her and her friends.

Audrey used to be the quite one among her peers and mostly not cared about at all, her sudden change in behaivour said a lot about what she wants.

To be known.

"Audrey, to be loved you have to love yourself first. Just be you, you don't have to be loud to be known. Be you. I'm sure you do have friends who secretly care for you"

"But mine are not as good as yours" she said in a faint tone.

"Oh sweetie, we all have crazy bunch of friends of our own, you just have to see the uniqueness in your circle. Well, you might think my circle acts a little too much but that's just the way they are. Your friends would care for you in a different way, you know" Anuradha gave a light tap on her shoulders.

Audrey had been through a rough phase in her high school because of bullying. She always had the thought of those who are well-known, being under the spotlight, usually a bully and that Anuradha was no exception to her.

She recently started to try new tactics to avoid being bullied by making the first step to be strong and encountering the assumed 'bully'. That was what she just tried.

Anuradha was enlighten of Audrey's bad school experience last semester through Audrey's friend when she refused to do the routine with Anuradha afraid she will be a victim to another bully. Since then Anuradha had been silently noticing Audrey and her behaivour.

"Come on, cheer up. We need to get the Dancing Trophy this time" she cheered the girl who stood opposite her fiddling with her fingers.

Audrey looked up with shock evidently shown on her face, "I th_thought you wou_would ..."

"Bully? Audrey, I don't do that and I don't practice nor support bullying. I want you to understand that being well-known doesn't mean the person will be a bully. Well, I'm not, I can assure you that" Anuradha flashed her famous smile.

"My butterfly knows nothing but breaking our heads" Christopher voice came out of nowhere.

"Haven't you left to the hall yet, Chris?" Anuradha asked.

Christopher shrugged in respond and gave a toothy smile while Cameron joined them with his hands full with bags of props.

"Yeah, breaking head is her forte" said Cameron giving the ear to ear smile. "Her aims are bullseye."

Anuradha simple shook her head to the two annoying friends, "See I told you the crazy bunch"

*-*-*-*-*

Since it was a Friday and most of the students who were in the play had no classes, the practice had started before noon right after they move in to the hall from the studio.

Mrs. Gracie had been doing the supervising and separating the forty-four members who is involved in the Drama into groups to make the preparation for the necessary props, costumes, sound and much more.

Getting the essences of the scene, the dialect, the feel and memorizing the dialogue for a couple of scenes, Manohar was finally allowed to leave the stage till he was called for the next scene.

Scanning the view of empty seats, Anuradha was seated three rows behind where Mrs. Gracie sat. She looked engrossed in her work, Manohar decided give the lonely Radha a company.

"Busy?" Manohar whispered ever so softly frightening the daylights out of her.

"Manohar!" she said picking up the pen she dropped. "Mrs. Gracie let you go?"

"We are almost done for the day, Radha" he plopped himself on the seat next to her and started reading the script he was having.

"So soon?"

"Soon? Radha, we have been in this hall for..." looking at his watch, "six hours now. Minus the lunch hour." Manohar looked up to see a perplexed Radha, trying to figure out how the six hours passed by soon.

"Six hours..." she muttered. "Codswallop!! I have been doing this for six damned hours?" she sputtered picking the pieces of paper that she has been writing on.

Manohar shook his head in disbelief, "Radha, are you alright? You just came and sat here like two hours ago."

Anuradha was sent off to prepare the name lists for the preparation and works that need to be done for each play.

"Really? Oh god! How did that slip out of my mind?" she said throwing all the paper into a file and dumping them inside her bag. Lowering herself in the seat, Anuradha sighed. "It was a very productive day" she mumbled.

"Manohar?" she called after a long silence.

"Hmm..."

"Have you'll decided on the band name? I hope you guys aren't sticking to any of Cameron's suggested names. Please" she prayed.

Manohar chuckled and shook his head, "we are still figuring out."

One by one the students begin to walk out of the hall bidding good bye to Anuradha and Manohar as they passed by them. Mrs. Gracie had finally given mercy to them after a six and a half hour of rehearsing.

They were later joined by Manoj, Shika, Cameron and Christopher, taking a seat on a row ahead of Radha and Manohar.

"What's cooking here without me?" Christopher who was on a row before them jumped up the seat and sat next to Anuradha.

"Have you'll come up with a name?" she asked again to the newly joined.

"uhmm.... I did" Cameron raised his hand with a confident smile.

"Shika and I were discussing about that a while ago... what do you think about Brotherhood?" Manoj suggested.

Anuradha begin to notice a certain closeness taking place between Manoj and Shika and it's quite visible to others as well.

"So, you both had your separate discussion, huh" Christopher teased as he passed a packet of chips he just open to Anuradha.

"No, it wasn't a separate discussion. We... we just happen to talk about it earlier" Manoj and Shika blushed like any rose.

"Manohar? Have you thought of any?" Cameron asked, hoping on the seat and grabbed the chips packet from Manohar.

Nodding his head side to side, Christopher came up with a name "how about Butter-Romeo" Christopher pointed to him and Anuradha, wiggling his eyebrows for his new creation.

"It's a combination of the name we both call each other" he explained, as he took the chips packet that came back empty, crushing it Christopher gape as all fixed their gaze to him.

"What?!"

"Nothing" they said in unison.

They continued to think of a name for the band that's about to make its first public appearance. They want it to be perfect, the band might not continue for long but the six of them wanted the first to be known as the best.

After a day of brainstorming, they finally came up with a list of names that could possibly be perfect for their band, yet they weren't sure which one to choose from.

A long moment of silence prevailed before Manohar and the rest suggested Anuradha to list down the names and let the readers pick the best name for their band.
