 CHAPTER 21 AS TIME GOES BY

MICHAEL’S POV

It’s been six months since DeAnna was born. I am now living in Huntsville, AL and running our family’s business which is actually a company that owns several other company’s.

All of our companies employ mostly wolves and those humans who are mated to wolves. We have a publishing company, an advertising company and a computer software company. They are all subsidiaries of our parent company, Wolf Enterprises. The headquarters was moved to our Huntsville Office building when I decided to move to Huntsville to be closer to my mate and her family. Our pack owns large strips of land along the Tennessee River. The Royals it appears owns a lot of the timberland along Smith Lake in both Cullman and Walker Counties. I have recently acquired more land connecting to theirs in Tuscaloosa along the Warrior River going all the way up to the University Of Alabama where we will be opening what appears to be Frat and Sorority House but in truth they are really pack houses for wolves going to the University. We will take part in the Greek Counsel and have both bid week and rush as far as everyone at the University is concerned however the only ones to actually gain entrance to the Houses will be either wolves or their human mates.

The young wolves going to the University of Alabama are part of our pack or they are children of our allies or their betas who have sworn allegiance to us while attending the University or they are part of the Royal Guard and under my command. The young men and woman who are the children and grandchildren and such of the Royal Family automatically become part of the Royal Guard along with their mates unless their mate is an Alpha King, Alpha or Beta then they take their place in their mates pack like my mom did. This is rare because female descendents are very rare. My mother was the only female born from the children of John, Tonya and Tony line and she was the youngest child of their youngest son at that.

Maria has taken over as Administrator of both houses. Many of our wolves call her Luna as is her rightful title though most do not know who she really is and they know she is married to Lewis, but because she acts like a true Luna and I am the sub-alpha with no mate as far as they know. Well many of the royal guard know who she really is and will refer to her as Your Majesty when no one else is around. She gets a little embarrassed when they do that and have asked them to call her by her given name. They do not know that she is my mate though; they only knew that I am over the Royal Guard here and over her and her family’s protection. The Royal Guard members know that she is David and Eve’s granddaughter even though she hasn’t gone through the change. Most of them realize the importance of the female royal because of their history lessons when they were younger. However, the wolves from both my pack and the royal guard do not let the other wolves know who she really is. As far as the other wolves and humans know we call her Luna because our house symbol is the wolf pack and she is the house mother and Administrator. The Frat house uses the black wolf which is my wolf but the Sorority house uses the white wolf which is what Maria’s wolf will be when she comes out.

So much has been happening so quickly as of late. I was able to get the land that attaches to the royal’s so I have almost a straight shot if I need to run from my place in Huntsville to her with only about a ten mile stretch that does not belong to the Royals or my family and most of that is wooded and swamp land and in an emergency I can run it without much interference or worry of being seen.

The one thing that bothers me is that I’ve only had one dream where Maria and Lewis were together and that was last night. I’m pretty sure she conceived last night as well.   I’ve had a few dreams where I saw her alone trying to ease her sexual frustration. All I can say is that last night’s dream made me want to cry. Not because I had to watch my mate with another man but because watching her eyes I could see that she took no pleasure in the act though she did everything to please her husband, I am beginning to think that she has never found pleasure in sex and that just breaks my heart. Don’t get me wrong because it’s not that I want to know my mate is enjoying another but at the same time I want her happy. I don’t think she really is. She is doing her duty and that is all. That’s what I sentenced her too. I think knowing this hurts much worse than knowing she is sharing herself with her husband.

“Hey Lewis,” I say as he answers the phone. “I was wondering if you would like to go over to Atlanta with me to a Brave’s game.”

“When?” Lewis answers.

“There is a double header Saturday but I also have access to the game on Friday night as well. I thought we could go up Friday afternoon and stay the night. That is if you feel like it. I think Dad is planning on going to. Mom said something about spending the weekend with Maria if you do. I think she wants to spend time with the girls. You know she thinks of the girls as her grandchildren. She has given up on me and well she has thought of Maria as hers since she was young. Plus with the exception of Mary she had boys.”I tell Lewis.

“Well let me talk with Maria and find out what she says. Personally, you know I love a good baseball game but let me make sure Maria doesn’t have anything planned.” Lewis tells me.

“Give me just a minute I think I hear Maria coming in now.” He tells me and then I hear Maria in the background.

“Lewis, are you busy? Oh I’m sorry I didn’t realize you were on the phone. I’ll talk with later.”  I hear Maria say in the background.

“No wait I needed to ask you something,” Lewis says to her.

“I have Michael on the phone and he wants me to go to Atlanta with him and his dad to watch the Braves place. He said that Dottie is itching to come spend the weekend with you and the girls. What do you think?”  Lewis asks her.

“I think that is a wonderful idea. I just wish Michael wasn’t so alone. Lewis does he ever date?” I could hear her ask him.

“No baby he told me years ago that he would never be with anyone other than his mate.” Lewis told her.

“I just wish he had someone. What if he never gets her?” I heard her ask.

Did she really think that we would never be together? Did she really not want me?

Don’t be a dumby? Liam says in my head.

I thought you had forgotten me. It’s been so long since you spoke to me.  I tell Liam.

No I haven’t forgotten you. I just don’t have much to say. I mean other than missing our mate you do pretty well and I just watch. Liam tells me

Do you ever talk with Sophia?  I ask him.

Yes we have to.  Liam tells me.

How are they? Does she ever ask about me? I heard her tell Lewis that she worries about me well I heard Maria tell him that? She also told him she wish I had someone? Doesn’t she want us?  I asked Liam all the questions.

First they are fine. Sophia understands though she isn’t exactly thrilled. She tells me that Maria worries about you. They are both in love with us and the separation is horrible, but they made a commitment and for as long as Lewis is alive they will not break it. Sophia and I talk often but she knows that Maria worries about you being alone. She knows that you are an alpha and should have strong sexual needs but at the same times doesn’t understand that because you have met your mate you only desire her and no other. There are things that Sophia keeps from her because she doesn’t think Maria could handle the guilt. Maria loves you and is in love with you where her relationship with Lewis is more of a friend with benefits. She loves him as a friend and she will be faithful but he doesn’t own her heart and never has. Apparently Sophia keeps Maria in the dark about a lot of thing, even more than I do you. I will tell you anything you ask but I was told not to volunteer anything unless it was something that you needed to know. Well because of Maria’s ignorance of wolves she doesn’t know to ask though she wonders a lot of things. Whereas I know if you are wondering you I know that means I am to answer if I know, Maria doesn’t know to ask and expect an answer. So Sophia keeps her in the dark most of the time. Liam tells me.

Liam, about what I saw last night. Was that what I think it was?  I ask him.

So what are you thinking it was? You know that is part of our punishment.  Liam said.

Is she? Did she? Last night?  I don’t seem to be able to ask him.

If you are asking did she conceive our son last night the answer is yes. We were there so it could happen.  Liam said.

Liam, that is the first time I have seen them have sex since she had DeAnna.  Does that mean they don’t? I asked him.

What do you think?  Liam said.

She has never had an orgasm according to Sophia. She has had sex but I am now convinced she has never been made love to. Our mate needs us and will really need us in the future. Be patient.  Liam continues.

Easier said than done.  I tell him a little sarcastically.

I know. The other thing you need to remember is not to take any of this out on Lewis. He was there when we weren’t. He has supported her for years when we were too busy to realize that she was right under our nose.  Liam told me.

 I know and I am thankful that he has been there when I wasn’t. I know that it wouldn’t be right to try and get her to break her vows.  I couldn’t live with myself if I did that.  I tell Liam.

I AM SO SORRY FOR TAKING SO LONG TO GET THIS CHAPTER UP.  I REALLY HAD SO MANY WAYS I COULD TAKE THIS AND I REALLY WASN’T SURE WHICH WOULD BE BEST.  I’M NOT INTIRELY SURE I LIKE THE WAY THIS TURNED OUT.
