CHAPTER 15 HOME SAFE AND SECURE

MARIA'S POV

Waking up I feel the nice warmth beside me that I can't help but cuddle up to. It feels like I am finally home, safe and secure. I have never felt like this before. I have never woke up feeling completely secure and safe.

I know this is just a nap but I am so rested. It's like I have had a wonderful nights rest. Come to think of it I woke up with the same rested feeling this morning. I wonder why I am sleeping so well with the baby due in a couple of weeks I'm surprised I am sleeping at all.

I start to stretch and realize that a strong arm is pulling me up against a lean hard body. Panic ... instant and complete. Who is in the bed with me? It's not Lewis. This body is ...Lean...Hard...not soft with a little gut. This is not Lewis. Don't get me wrong I love Lewis but the body I am being pulled against is a home I could get lost in. It's strong and toned. The eight pack rippling against my stomach is to die for. There is a large strong hand rubbing circles on my lower back and on my baby bump.

"Maria I know you are awake and all the sudden getting anxious. Are the contractions getting worse?" This strong soothing voice asks full of tenderness as I fell a soft but jolting kiss against my forehead. Come to think of it I can feel little shocks running all over my body coming out of the points of contact.

"Contractions? What contractions? I'm not having contractions." I say confused.

"I'm not in pain. How can I be having contractions? I would know if I were having contractions." I say almost in a panic.

"Sweetheart. You are definitely having contractions. You aren't really feeling them because at the moment I am keeping them from you. Plus I am keeping our baby girl quiet as well." I recognize the voice now as Michael's.

"Michael, why are you laying in the bed with me?"

"Well ... um... I was bring you from the conversation with the King and Queen because you were upset and it was more than what you could handle. Do you remember? You were finally letting out all the grief and pain you felt over loosing Mary and then us not finding each other until after you were married. You feel asleep again in my arms and when I laid you down you were very restless and crying in your sleep. After checking on DeNice I came over here and laid next to you. The King told me to stay with you until you were resting quietly. You haven't been sleeping. Every time I tried to leave you would start to whimper again then about an hour ago I noticed the contractions. I called Eve and she came in and checked. She said that you were definitely in labor. She has sent the helo after you doctor. There is another helo on standby waiting for the doctor to say whether or not you are in labor for real or not. If she deems that you are then Lewis will be brought here immediately." He tells me.

"Couple of questions? First, I can feel the contractions but they aren't strong so I don't understand how I can actually be in labor?" I half ask half state.

"Well that is easy sweetheart. I am your true soul mate and I have the power to take a lot of your pain away so up until right before the pup is born all you will feel is pressure and the constriction. That is as long as we are lying together and one of my hands is in contact with the pup and the other rubbing your back." He tells me.

"Okay but I don't think Lewis will like this?" I tell him.

"That is one of the reasons I asked that the helo not pick him up until I was sure." Someone new says as they enter.

"Oh its you. I didn't know you made house calls or travel." I tell my doctor.

"Maria, Oh Maria... You are not only my patient but family. Beside did you forget that Bill is my dad. I grew up here." She tells me.

"I don't want Lewis here until its almost time for you to deliver. Michael's presences means I don't have to give you drugs." She continues.

"Not to mention this is really the best place for your children to be born."

I look at my doctor and am very puzzeled over what she is saying.

"Why?" I ask.

"Well I don't like giving drugs when I know it is a wolf being born and your children will all be wolves. We know this now."

"How do you know? I mean Lewis isn't a wolf and these are girls." I say.

"Sweetheart, both Liam and Sabrina have both made this known as well as the prophecy." Michael tells me.

"He is right. When Michael told me this I had Dad check with Uncle Von as I was on the way here just to make sure." My doctor tells me.

"Liam needs to be present for the birth of each of your pups from now on because through Michael will not be there biological father Liam is their wolf father. That is obvious by the fact that at this point you feel no pain and you didn't even realize that I was hooking you up to the contraction monitor. Go ahead and look at how strong those contractions are and at the moment they are 2 minutes apart. So now Maria do you understand." She tells me.

"Papa" she says to David. "can you have the helo pick up Lewis. But I need to know just as soon as he arrives so I can get Michael out of the bed. I don't want to cause any problems. Now Maria, Lewis should be leaving to come in just a matter of minutes. I want Michael to stay where he is until after Lewis has landed here or you are ready for the delivery. Now Michael while I am actually checking to see how much she has dilated I want you to go get on a pair of scrubs and be sure to get the cap and mask because this will be the only time you leave this room until after this pup is her. Lewis doesn't need to know it is you when he gets here. Once he gets here you will become my assistant and will not speak but will continue to rub her back and if need be the baby. Is that understood?"

"Ugh I guess." Michael says as he leaves.

"Maria, Lewis can't know Michael is here in the room. It will cause too many problems but Michael has to be present or you will not live through the delivery. Do you understand?"

"No I don't. I mean I delivery DeNice without him." I say confused.

"Well your wolf is awake and so is DeNice's. If my guess is right so will this baby's be when she is born."

"What do you mean?" I didn't think the wolf woke up in my bloodline until it came across its mate.

"You have come across more wolves during this pregnancy and I am hearing wolf and now seeing a wolf in you. She will turn back into her human form shortly before delivery of her wolf father tells her to. So that is the reason Michael must be present. He will have to order her to shift before delivery but she needs to stay in this form up until ready so she will be fully ready. After all she is a little early by human standards. Once she shifts back into her human form she will not be able to shift again until her mate claims her, but somehow she has been in the presence of her mate." She can tell I am so confused.

"Where would she have come across him?" I ask.

Eve supplies the answer.

"Maria darling. Have you come across any pregnant wolves since you have been pregnant? I know that you and Dottie are close so have you been introduced to another pregnant woman while with her? Or maybe a young mother with a son?" Eve says.

"As a matter of fact I do remember just after I found out I was expecting meeting a young woman with a small son." I tell everyone.

"Great now I have to find two small pups and make sure they trained and meet the girls again." Michael says as he crawls back in bed .

"What are you talking about?" I ask Michael as we get comfortable.

"Well DeNice already has her wolf." Michael tells me.

"What???? How do you know?"

"Remember when she was calling me Daddy. Well she wasn't actually calling me Daddy she was calling Liam Daddy. When I rocked her to sleep that night Liam and her wolf talked. Apparently there was another little boy on the helo and he is her mate. Her wolf is awake just like yours is but until she is claimed her wolf can't come out." He tells me.

"So now you have to find out who that little boy is and then what?" I ask him.

" I will have to make sure he receives the training to be a royal without knowing it. It will be special alpha training that the King will order. As for this one I will have to get with mother and see who she could have possible introduced you to that had a small boy. Problem with that is that mother may not know or she may have introduced you to many. I know my mother. This could end up being a big job. I do believe mother hosted a group of Luna's not too long ago. It will be my luck that that is when you came across her mate." Michael sounded tired.

"Michael are you alright?" I asked him.

"Yes but these labor pains are rough." He says.

"Michael they aren't bad at all." I say.

"Hahahahah" I forgot that David was in the room.

"Oh Maria, you aren't feeling the worst of the pain because Michael is taking for you. He feels the full extent of the pain. It is a trait that only kings can do and with him being a future king he can take all your pain away as long as he has you in his arms. That is the reason your doctor wants him there until Lewis enters the living quarters of the palace. Then he will have to get up but still hold your hand until the pup s here so she doesn't tear you up trying to get out." David told me.

"Hey doc???? I don't think Lewis is going to make it. You may want to check to see if she is crowning because it feels like this pup is coming." Michael says.

The doctor lifts the sheet and sees the pup's snout trying to come out. "Michael you need to ordered that pup to shift now or it will kill her." The doctor says.

"Shift. Shift now my daughter." I hear Michael say out loud as well as in my brain.

I also her a little whimper in my brain as I can tell Michael is talking to DeAnn as she comes into this world. Once the doctor has her out. Michael who got up when they put me in the stirrups. Took the baby and started cleaning her up.

About that time I heard Lewis coming down the hall. Michael I noticed was covered up so Lewis would not recognize his best friend.

Maria she is beautiful. Her wolf is also just as Liam remembers her. I will see you later. I need to let Lewis have his time with you. I will be around always. I love you and though you may not see me just know either I will have my eyes on you or someone under my instruction. You and the girls will always be under my protection. Michael says through our mind link.

Maria I don't know when we will be able to talk again. I will not cause problems between you and Lewis and I know that you don't want me to so we will have to be careful. I love you and our girls. Never ever doubt that. Michael links back and leaves.

I feel his departure all the way down to my soul and though I know I should be very happy because of the birth of a very healthy DeAnn I just feel empty.

It will be alright. He will never be far away and his love and devotion is strong. Most wolves would either give up and reject you or force the bond. He hasn't because he knows to do so would be even worst. Maria you must be very careful not to put too much strain on him because his natural instinct is to take you even if it is by force. David links me.

Thank you Papa. I tell him. As I watch and feel Michael leave.

I REALLY HATE THAT IT TOOK SO LONG TO UPDATE THIS TIME. I WAS TRYING TO FIGURE OUT JUST WHAT I WANTED TO DO NEXT. I HAVE SO MANY THINGS FLOATING AROUND IN MY HEAD I JUST WASN'T SURE. I REALLY HOPE YOU LIKED IT.
