Chapter 4: Growing Bonds
"STOP IT!!!!" Lynn cried out for mercy as a breeze blew past the Hashira and the Master.
In mere moments, Sanemi was shocked and gritting his teeth when he felt a hot and stinging sensation burning his neck. Everyone was shocked and the Hashira's all drew their blades when they saw you standing behind Sanemi, with your claws glowing green and a mist coming off your hand.
"You have no clue what real demons are. These weaklings that are swayed by human blood are nothing compared to the demons that came before your family was even thought of. If this demon girl is indeed swayed by your blood, then you will die by my poison claw, as an example of a true demon's power. If not, then she and the girl over there have just spared your life." You said as Himejima and Rengoku ran in front of the Master in defensive stances. "Now then, let's wait and see what this girl chooses to do with a vermin like you." You said as Sanemi was completely caught.
The atmosphere of the entire situation grew heavy and everyone was silent as they waited to see what the Demon girl would do. After waiting for a few more moments, the girl much to everyone's shock, especially Sanemi, turned away almost in disgust as the saliva coming from her mouth ceased. Seeing this conclusion, you stopped emitting the poison from your claws and withdrew from Sanemi as he jumped away from you to join his comrades, and as he did, the Master spoke up.
"What just happened?" The Master asked his daughters.
"The demon girl turned her back in disgust. Although she'd been stabbed three times by Shinazugawa, and despite his flaunting of his bloody arm in her face, she restrained herself and did not bite. Thus, sparing Shinazugawa-san from the poisonous claws of the other demon." One of his daughter's explained as Sanemi scoffed and you simply walked passed the slayers.
"Lord Y/N..." Lynn muttered as you walked passed her in silence and returned to the spot of the garden you were once stood in.
"So now, it's been proven Nezuko won't attack humans, right?" The Master said as everyone lowered their weapons and sheathed their blades.
"Tanjirou..." The Master called as he caught the young boy's attention. "I'm sure that even after this, there are some who can't accept Nezuko. You must prove it to them starting now. That you and Nezuko can fight as Demon Slayers. That you can be useful." He spoke in a gentle tone as Tanjirou instinctively bowed his head. "Go out and defeat a Twelve Kizuki. Do that, and you'll be accepted by all. And it will give more weight to your words." The Master said as everyone returned to their kneeling positions except you.
"I..." Tanjirou started as he rose his head up with determination. "Nezuko and I will defeat Kibutsuji Muzan! Nezuko and I will do it for sure! Strike with the sword that will stop the chain of grief!" Tanjirou said in the heat of the moment as the Master simply smiled in his direction.
"As you're ill-equipped to do so right now, Tanjirou, let's start by defeating a Twelve Kizuki, all right?" The Master proposed as Tanjirou realized what he said and grew extremely embarrassed.
"Yes, sir." Was all he could say as his entire face was red and his hair was stuck up.
"P-Pfft...! You mustn't laught! You mustn't, you mustn't, you mustn't!" Mitsuri had to bite her lip to stop herself from laughing out loud as Shinobu, Himejima, and Uzui struggled to hold back their chuckles as well.
"It goes without saying that the Hashira of the Demon Slayer Corps have phenomenal skills. After training themselves to death, they have defied death, and they've also defeated Twelve Kizuki." The Master explained to the young slayer.
"Yes! A good attitude to have!" Rengoku agreed whole heartedly.
"That is why Hashira receive respect and preferential treatment. So, Tanjirou, mind your manners when you speak." The Master gave the boy a small warning.
"Y-Yes, sir!" Tanjirou took his advice and warning seriously.
"One more thing, Sanemi, Obanai... Don't torment the younger ones too much." The Master reprimanded his two Hashira's for a brief moment as they bowed their heads.
"As you wish." Obanai simply responded.
"As you wish." Sanemi said while kneeling down on the tatami floor and lowering his weapon while Nezuko glared and made muffled angry noises at him.
"Tanjirou, we have concluded our business with you. You may step back." The Master relieved Tanjirou of his presence there as Shinobu raised her hand and spoke.
"In that case, allow me to take Kamado-kun into my house." Shinobu offered as Tanjirou took a moment to process the situation.
"...Huh?" Was all Tanjirou muttered when Shinobu clapped her hands.
"All right, then! Take them away please!" Shinobu said as the two Kakushi in change of Tanjirou and Nezuko arrived immediately and took them away in a swift manner.
"Now then, for our next order of business--!" The Master was suddenly cut off when Tanjirou's voice called from the corner.
"Hold on a second!" Tanjirou came yelling while flying around the corner as he escaped his two escorts.
"Huh?! Why is he coming back!?" Lynn thought with a shocked look on her face.
"What an annoying racket..." You said in an irritated tone.
"Come back here!" His Kakushi yelled as he yanked his ankles and tripped him to the ground as Tanjirou glared at Sanemi.
"Please allow me to head-butt that man covered in scars! I gotta--!" Tanjirou was cut off by the two Kakushi who were pounding away at him on the ground.
"Shut up! Keep your mouth shut!" The one of his back yelled in fury over how rude he was being to the Hashira.
"I gotta head-butt him as many times as he stabbed Nezuko! Head-butting isn't a violation of the Corps rules, right?" Tanjirou yelled.
"Shut up! Settle down now!" The female Kakushi carrying Nezuko in her box demanded as they tried dragging him away.
"Let go of me!" Tanjirou tried fighting back.
"Cut it out!" His Kakushi groaned while pulling back, when all of a sudden, a small barrage of stones came flying from out of and knocked out Tanjirou.
"You're not allowed to interrupt the Master." The Mist Hashira, Muichirou, said while tossing a stone in his hand up and down while the Kakushi repeatedly bowed their heads in apology.
"We beg your pardon!" Tanjirou's Kakushi bowed to the Hashira over and over again.
"We beg your pardon, Master!" The female Kakushi bowed her head over and over to the Master as they repeated their apologies again and again.
"Just get out of our sight." Muichirou said plainly to them.
"Yes, sir!" The two Kakushi yelped as they picked up Tanjirou and immediately ran off.
"Tanjirou..." The Master called out before they were out of ear shot. "Give Miss Tamayo my regards." Was all he said as Tanjirou had a shocked look on his face as he was dragged out and away from the mansion.
"Now then, onto a bigger manner of demons among our ranks..." The Master said as he turned forward towards everyone. "Shinobu, Tomioka, you've brought an even more interesting case than Tanjirou's here...Who is the Slayer that is accompanied by a demon not affected by the sun?" The Master asked with curiousity.
"If I may, Master, I feel it would be more clearer if I let her explain for herself." Shinobu said as gestured Lynn to speak up.
"U-Um...It's a great honor to be in all of your presences. My name is Lynn, rank Mizunoto." Lynn bowed respectfully to all the Hashira and the Master.
"Lynn-san, please explain your relation to this demon." Shinobu asked in a serious tone as Lynn grew nervous and gulped down a breath of air before speaking.
"Before I explain my relation to Lord Y/N, I feel as though it would be better to explain his origins and strength as a demon." Lynn said as she turned to look at you while you simply stared back at her. "Lord Y/N has lived for over hundreds of years now, possibly more than two or three or even four hundred years, and is a full fledged demon from the Feudal Era. He is the pure bred son to the great Lord Sesshomaru, great conqueror of demons at the time." Lynn explained as they were all visibly shocked from hearing how long you've lived.
"To live for such a period, it's unheard of for a demon." Rengoku said in disbelief.
"The demons you are referring to are mere insects waiting to be swatted away compared to the strength of the demons that have come before. It's disappointing to see the current state of strength today's demons have. The powers that demons today possess, what you call blood demon arts, string from the demonic powers of their ancestors centuries ago. They cannot even come close to a fraction of the power I currently possess." You said as all attention was on you.
"What is your goal?" Shinobu asked.
"To destroy that vermin, Kibutsuji Muzan. I've been hunting his bloodline for the last three centuries, and I've finally narrowed it down to just him." You said as they were in disbelief that you were hunting down the king of demons.
"If that is your goal, then why did you slaughter the slayers that accompanied me the night we came across you the first time?" Shinobu asked as Lynn was shocked when she heard of this news.
"...You were annoying vermin standing in my way." You said as this seemed to strike a string in the slayers hearts as their hands all twitched to reach for their blades.
"Then why show restraint and even care for the girl here?" Shinobu asked as you furrowed your brows at her and she felt even more uneasy after asking that question.
"L-Lord Y/N has been very close acquaintances with my ancestors from long ago. Before he was born, his father, Lord Sesshomaru was accompanied on his travels by a human girl, my ancestor. Since then, we've been under the care of Lord Sesshomaru and Lord Y/N." Lynn explained as best as she could.
"Is all you're after Kibutsuji Muzan?" The Master asked as you looked over at him.
"Yes, that's all." You answered.
"...Then, it seems we have a common goal. I hope a we can come to agree on terms and aid each other in the destruction of Kibutsuji Muzan." The Master simply responded as his Hashira were all shocked at what he said.
"Master! We cannot let this demon simply do as he wishes! If Kibutsuji were soon defeated, what of the threat he poses?" Uzui said as Lynn spoke up.
"Lord Y/N won't hurt anyone unless provoked into doing so! I swear on it!" Lynn yelled as loud as she could.
"We cannot simply take the word of a child on this manner. What makes you so sure that he'll remain neutral after the death of Kibutsuji? You've spoken of him as a all powerful demon, why wouldn't he try and eradicate us all?" Sanemi asked Lynn.
"Your lives have no worth or meaning in me ending them. There would be no meaning in me slaughtering you humans." You said as the Hashira were all on edge at how serious were speaking to them. "If that is all you have to ask for me, I hope we never cross paths after this." You said as you turned and began to walk away.
"W-Wait, Lord Y/N!" Lynn jumped to her feet ran over to you as she grabbed your hand that was hidden under your sleeve. "Please, if we work together, finding the Twelve Kizuki and this Kibutsuji person will be a lot more efficient. Please, stay here to work with us..." Lynn said as you felt her hands shaking and you glanced back as she hung her head. "...I don't wanna be alone anymore...Now that I know you really are real, and that the stories my family has passed down from generations ago are true, you're the only family I have left..." She said as she gripped your hand a little tighter. "Please...let me stay by your side...please...please..." She muttered and begged with tears landing on the ground as the Hashira merely watched the pleas of a girl try and reach a demon.
"...You're injured." You said as she grew confused and looked up to see you facing her and looking at her scratched and bruised body. "You..." You looked over at Shinobu as she perked up from your call. "You can heal her wounds at your home?" You asked as Shinobu was shocked at hearing the concern of a demon for a young human girl.
"Y-Yes. You can still catch up with the Kakushi that are transporting Tanjriou and Nezuko if you leave now." Shinobu said as you turned to the Master.
"I won't promise to interfere with your slayers, but I will spare them should they come across my path to that vermin, Muzan." You said as the Master simply bowed in the direction your voice was coming from.
"I hope we can both benefit from this truce." Was all he said before you used one arm to scoop Lynn into your grasp as she blushed.
"L-Lord Y/N...!" She yelped as you simply turned toward the direction you smelled the Kakushi run off toward.
"Hold on." You warned as she held onto your fur that was wrapped over your should.
In a few moments, the slayers were shocked when they saw you suddenly fly off into the air with Lynn, heading for Shinobu's home for her treatment. Lynn had her eyes shut from feeling herself be lifted away from the safety of the ground, but scrounging up enough courage, the girl began to slowly open her eyes, and what she was saw was nothing short of a dream. Her eyes lit up light stars and she was jaw dropped by the beauty of the scenery down below and how peaceful and precious the land scape was. While looking out far and wide across the lands from just under the few clouds that were moving across the sky, Lynn heard a few clanks of metal and down to the side of your hips to see your blades. Curiosity getting the better of her, Lynn looked up at you while you remained looking forward.
"Lord Y/N?" She spoke to get your attention.
"What is it?" You asked calmly.
"Where did you get those swords? The one with the red hilt doesn't look like a normal blade that would be forged today." Lynn asked as you put your free hand over the Tokijin.
"This blade is the Tokijin. I wandered the lands for sometime before stumbling upon this once broken blade." You explained.
"Huh? It was broken? How did you fix it?" She asked in wonder.
"The blade was no ordinary steel, it was created from the fangs of a demon from long ago. My father wielded this weapon for some time until it was broken and discarded by him. When I learned of the blade and my father wielding it for some time, I decided that it would be an ideal weapon to use against him. So in order to make it stronger, I used my own fang had a swordsmith repair the blade." You said as you looked down and saw the Kakushi running along a dirt path with Tanjirou and his sister in tow. "Imbuing the blade with my fang and demonic energy made the blade not only stronger, but completely submissive and loyal to me." You said as you slowly descended down towards the Kakushi.
"Then, what about that blue hilted sword?" Lynn asked as you moved your hand away from the Tokijin and grabbed the blue hilt at your side.
"This is nothing more than useless blade that cannot cut even flesh." Was all you said as Lynn was perplexed at the strange sword, but noticed that below her was the Kakushi and Tanjirou.
"Ah, Tanjirou-kun! Excuse me!" Lynn called out from above as the Kakushi came to a stop and looked around in confusion before yelping as you landed in front of them.
"Y-You're the...!" The male Kakushi couldn't finish his sentence as he was too scared of your intimidating stature.
"That demon from the mountain...and the girl..." Tanjirou thought as he was surprised to see you carrying the girl in your arms.
"You two are taking that boy to have his wounds be taken care of, correct?" You asked as the two Kakushi nervously nodded 'yes' to you. "You will also be taking her in to be treated." You said as you referred to Lynn.
"Huh?" The female Kakushi said in confusion as she took notice and saw the cuts, bruises and scratches that covered Lynn's body and bits of her face. "Ah, you were there at the Master's home." She said as she turned and looked at you. "W-We can take her, as well." She said as you turned and the white fur hanging off your body fell in front of them.
"Grab it and hold on tight." Lynn said with an excited smile while looking behind you to watch them.
"Huh? Uh..." The two Kakushi were confused and hesitant about what they were doing.
They looked back and forth between the fur and Lynn who had an excited smile on her face, and slowly began reaching for the fur. Once their hands grabbed onto the fluffy cloud of fur, your feet left the ground and you flew into the air as the Kakushi and Tanjirou all yelled in shock of being lifted from the ground. They all held on with all their strength and closed their eyes to keep from making their stress level rise any higher by looking how far they were off the ground.
"Excuse me." Lynn spoke as the male Kakushi slowly opened one eye and looked towards her. "Um, where exactly is the home of that butterfly lady?" She asked in a calm tone.
"K-K-K-K-Keep heading this direction, we'll spot it soon...!" He said as he immediately shut his eyes once more and Lynn tilted her head in confusion before shrugging it off and getting comfortable in your arms, almost snuggling into your fur.
"This girl..." You thought as you glanced down at Lynn who seemed to lay happily in your arms and stare out to everything in the distance.
"...promise me you'll watch over my family..." Those words echoed through your memory as you stared out ahead, remaining silent as you spotted a manor that you assumed was the home of the Insect Hashira that would take care of Lynn.
"Lynn..." You spoke as she stared up at you with a curious look. "...No, never mind." You finished as she raised a brow and could only wonder what you, her lord, could be thinking of as you all began your descent to the Shinobu Manor.
