New feelings
Connor was still getting used to having emotions.
He was still getting used to feeling simple things like happy, excited, or content, let alone processing things like pain or despair. He'd felt a lot of things since he'd become deviant, he just had a hard time understanding it. One thing he did, now that he could feel, was get upset with himself at the littlest things. It was new, but he was getting used to it.
However, there was one feeling he was in no way prepared for.
Connor strolled happily down the sidewalk, gripping Sumo's leash in his right hand as he took in the beautiful autumn scenery. It still slightly cold out, but Connor was a little less sensitive to the weather than Hank was, so he gladly volunteered to take his favorite Saint Bernard for a walk.
He had memorized the scenery he passed by, even considering the amount of time that had passed since last time he'd taken Sumo out. However, as he was walking, he stopped by a building he hadn't recognized.
"Android Coffee". This should be interesting.
As he walked in, the first thing he noticed was the beautiful android sitting behind the counter. She was a WR400 Traci with long, brown hair to match her sparkling brown eyes. He pulled Sumo along as he stepped curiously inside, glad that dogs were surprisingly allowed in here.
"Android Coffee?" Connor asked with half a chuckle as he moved to sit at the counter. He watched the gorgeous barista shift her eyes to stare at him with a fond smile.
"It took quite a while to figure out. Most everyone is scared to try it since it's new and unfamiliar, but I swear it works! After weeks of testing, I finally figured out how to make thirium both tasteful and edible, which is done with water, a pinch of sugar, and-"
"Hydrogen peroxide," Connor finished, his face lighting up with a smile. The Traci chuckled and returned the same grin, holding it for a second or two.
"You know your stuff," She noted, her smile never fading. "Connor, huh?"
Distracted by the beauty and charm from the android in front of him, Connor was almost taken aback by her knowledge of his name, but he then realized how obvious it was. His Jacket, with "Rk800" written in small letters on the top left side, was his uniform. The same uniform he was wearing when he brought hundreds of androids to the revolution that 100% made the news. The same uniform that declared who he was, an Rk800, which is guaranteed to be Connor considering he was a prototype. "That's me," He confirmed.
"I'm just your average Traci.. So you can just call me Traci. I'm simple like that." The small wink she then gave him, identical to his own signature wink, nearly had him swooning. He could barely focus enough to return the simple gesture.
"Alright... Traci..." He slid the stool closer to the counter so he was staring straight into her chocolate irises. "What makes this 'coffee' so enjoyable?"
"If you'd like, I can give you one on the house. One free sample will let you know that this is worth paying for."
Connor normally would refuse such a kind offer, but Traci seemed like the type who wouldn't take no for answer, and besides, who would turn down a free sample?
Traci returned quickly with a cardboard cup in her hand, one that looked like a cup straight out of starbucks, but missing the logo and replaced with a different one. Instead of the mossy green paper strap with the picture on it, it was a blue strap, identical to the one androids were previously forced to wear around their arms. She held it out with an excited grin. "Here."
When Connor took his first sip, he was left speechless. Thirium normally didn't taste like anything, it was just a simple part of him that he only needed when he was low on it... but this time, when he drank the blue liquid, a strange sensation washed over him. He liked it. He tested this feeling once more with another sip, and then another, and soon enough, the cup was completely empty.
"So, can I say I have a new regular customer?" Traci asked coolly, though inside she was nervous with anticipation.
"Fuck yes," He replied through what might as well have been a hissy whisper, to which Traci giggled with delight. A small bark reminded Connor of the reason he was out of the house in the first place, and he freed Sumo's leash from the chair it was tied to.
"We'd better go. Hank- er, the human I live with- returns home in..." He paused for a moment to check the time, "5 minutes. He'll wonder where I am."
"Got it," Traci nodded, glancing toward the St. Bernard that was panting and drooling at Connor's feet. She smiled at him. "What a sweet little... boy? Girl?"
"He's male, his name is Sumo," Connor answered, giving the dog in question a small pat on the head. Traci seemed to smile and giggle at this, clearly taking a liking to Sumo.
Connor didn't know it yet, but he was in love.
