Chapter Thirty Five

"I've never despised a male to such extent, my ex husband? Sure. Hate him- but Connor Manhattan needs his head butchered." Sophia Dixon was seething with pure rage, the lone thought of his face edged with that classic smile
made her want to commit a forbidden sin.

Alice chuckled lightly, certainly enjoying the little commotion as her friend ran hither and tither to obtain every item on the list. They were at Target, and honestly Sophia didn't even believe this man knew about this place shopping from LV and Gucci. Exactly 89 items on the list, nothing less nothing more. What the hell was this man up to with items so vague.
An hour later she had managed to find 28 of them, they were all spread across the aisle and lord help her under the heat. Why would this man need ... apple cider vinegar? A wrench? A sheet of pink paper? All the things on the lost were random, and when she promised him she was willing to do anything for him to not call the cops, she didn't think he'd make her go shop Apple cider vinegar with 88 more items.

After two hours of hard work and Alice straight up laughing at her with little help, the two ladies managed to return to their office with four enormous packets carried by the two. It was almost five pm, but she was just glad that her job was over.

The two ladies reached the entrance and the guards were nice enough to make them wait at the entry and go through every item in the packet, which took another hour before the two entered their office after loading the bad again.

This was all so pointless, and frustrating.

"Do you think Connor is just messing with you?" Alice asked, inside the elevator.

"When is he not messing with me? I feel like sometimes he stays up writing notes on his laptop under the subject 'how to make Sophia cry'. That bastard."

Alice laughed, even though she was tired but watching Sophia quivering with pure rage was beyond laughable. They eventually reached their floor and exited the elevator, walking over to Connors Cabin.

Placing to packets down on the floor, Sophia almost rolled her eyes as she knocked on his door, earning a quick 'come in'

Sophia pushed down on the handle and pushed her knee up to swing that door open fully, clearly infuriated by how stupid she looked. She was quick to pick up her bag and slip through the little space as the door closed, followed by Alice using her back to push open the door with her back and waddle in.

Connor sat on his throne, an amused smile playing on his luscious lips. Oh this was delicious, her sucking up her anger and working like a robot getting the most useless of things.
"Oh should I help?" He questioned, his smile widening as he made no attempt to move from his chair, what so ever. This infuriated Sophia furthermore and at the point if she could, she would love to swing that packet right at his face.
Forcing a smile, she shook her head no and so did Alice. "No, it's no problem."

The two ladies placed them down on the side and were ready to run out of his cabin, grab something to eat and go home to rest, when suddenly Connor spoke. "Miss Dixon, a minute please. Alice, you can leave." He dismissed Alice which made her wiggle her furry brows with uncertainty. "Oh- right." She replied, glancing at her and then back at her boss before walking right out of the cabin.

"What!" Sophia seethed, glaring at the male as she turned around, her voice stern. "What is it? Do you want me to go through every thing on the list again because let me tel you I've gone through it in the supermarket, at the exit and in the security check of your building. What more do you want?"

"First of all-" he started, gesturing her to sit down on the chair across him. When she didn't comply right away he sat back and didn't speak any further until she understood what he wanted. Sophia was seething with anger, oh lord did she want to throttle his neck but decided to give up on her pride and comply to his 'request'. She slumped down with a sigh and Connor smiled.

"Oh Conner! I'd do anything for you! Oh Connor please don't call the cops!" Connor mimicked her pleading from a week ago in the worst way possible. Her mouth fell agape, how dare he mimic her and with such a bad feminine voice! Plus she didn't expect him to bring it up in such a manner.

"I do NOT sound like that!" She complained, only to have Connor mimic her again. "I do NOT sound like that!"

She couldn't believe a man like him was being so childish, "Can you stop you prick!" Without thinking, she reached down in the packet and grabbed the first thing that came in her grasp, and threw it right at the man sitting across at his funny face. She saw his eyes widen before he ducked in time, saving him from a.. shampoo bottle? She didn't care, she reached down in the packet again and this time took her time to grab the next best thing, a little container and tossed it at him, which he caught this time. She inhaled deeply and looked away from him, sitting back with her arms crossed over her chest trying her best to act professional.

For a minute neither of the two spoke, and then suddenly a orchestrated series of laughter fell from his lips, his deep voice chuckling lightly. She couldn't hold in the laughter either, and joined him in his silly show.
"You're horrible." She laughed, her eyes closing as her head fell back.
"Oh yeah? Well unfortunately you're the one who's acting all unprofessional, throwing things at their boss?" He put across a great point, which made her roll her eyes.

"For your kind information, office hours are over. So you're not my boss, you're like a weird roommate that comes free with the house." She pointed out, then glanced at the four enormous packets on the floor. "You clearly did all this to entice me. So please tell me, what are you even going to do with all of this?"

"Probably donate everything. That's the most logical thing." He mumbled, smiling as he gazed at her smiling face. "Also- considering we're roommates you know exactly what's going to happen now."

Sophia looked at him, confused. "What do you mean what's going to happen next?"

He paused, smiling in a devious manner.
"Prank wars."

————————————————————————

Mitsuma Ayazawa was the new baby sitter assigned to Serenity was waddling behind the little child as she ran towards the little toy store. Connor had arranged a little trip for his daughter to buy anything she wanted with her babysitter while he had Sophia occupied with work, because if she knew he had a plan to spoil him like this, she'd have his head on a platter with no dressing. So all in all, the hard time he gave Sophia was a sort of distraction.

"M-Miss Serenity! Please- Oh please wait!" She called out, the old lady having trouble keeping up with her and this girl absolutely refused to hold her hand or stop running.

"Con-con said we have to be home before mama comes!" She mumbled, before turning right around the corner and stopping momentarily, her eyes widening at how big this building was, and all the toys on display. Of course Sophia was a businesswoman and she gave her little daughter everything but a child is never satisfied.

She pushed open the door and entered, the guards giving her a suspicious look but deciding not to say anything. She wan straight to the doll aisle, that had massive nine feet doll house, life sized barbies and a whole wardrobe that wouldn't just be for the dolls, but could fit Serenity herself. This was a big thing, and in her little mind she knew big things cost a lot. Back at home dad told her about the shiny and big objects being very expensive, but he loved getting everything for mommy because he loved her.
She was looking around, waiting for Mrs. Mitsuma, and waiting impatiently for her to arrive. While she did, Serenity ran over to the other side to look at the teddy bears, but the white panda on the top shelf caught her eyes. It was beyond fluffy, and looked cute. Maybe she could skip the big doll house and get the ganda instead, that wouldn't cost much money would it?

Being a child, she shouldn't be worried about money but Sophia made sure she knew she was lucky and blessed to have everything at such an age.

So she decided to get herself the panda stuffie, but the question was how. Perhaps she could hop and try? So she pushed her feet together and started hopping trying to reach the shelf but couldn't.

"Oh- here let me help you!" A strange voice from behind had her stop and turn around, round blue eyes staring at him. She didn't answer but stepped back as the stranger reached out to grab the toy, handling it back to the young girl.
"There you go."

"Thank you!" She squealed, her tiny arms wrapped around the soft plushie as she felt the soft fur touch her arms and face.

"Of course. Did you check out the other side? A whole lot of legos!"

"Lego!" She gasped, recalling the lego movie she watched last week with her mother.

"Would you like to have a look?" He questioned, flashing her a charming smile. But Serenity was a little apprehensive. "Huh.. but I don't know you.. what is your name?" He asked, looking at him a little confused.
She held the toy closer to her, and that's when her baby sitter walked in huffing and puffing, having looked all over the shop for her. "Oh Miss Serenity! Thank god you're here."
She smiled, then glanced up at the male who stood before her, surprisingly her smile just widened.

"Oh Serenity, I see you met your mother's friend." She pointed at the tall male, and the male smiled back.

"Mommy's friend?" She asked, the confusion slowly fading away.

"Yes, I'm your mother's friend. My name is Salvador." The lone word would have had Connor pull Serenity away from the man, beat him to death or perhaps call the police for breathing the same air as his daughter. But now, with their baby sitter being payed double by his worst enemy and him not having a clue about it, Serenity was left to some real danger.

"Now, how about we take a look at the legos and then grab something to eat?" He questioned, as Mrs. Mitsuma just smiled, her eyes twinkling with the amount of money he was ready to offer and all she had to do was make her like him. Easy.

What she didn't know, was at this point he had Xaviers mother by his side, a share of Connors company and earning his daughters trust wouldn't be too hard either. Sophia too was in some sort of debt, after he kept her little secret and the game hasn't even started. He would avenge his sister, and a lot of bloodshed was on the way. He just hoped, Connor and Xavier Manhattan were ready.
