Sophia took a deep breath, then another. Her chest felt like someone was choking her, her breath came out short, calculated.

Erica sighed in relief "Oh well, that's good right. When is that ass dropping her here?" She inquired. Erica didn't know that is exaclty what scared Sophia, the fact that her daughter was with the monster she didnt know what would happen next.

"No.." Sophia whispered. "No no no no.." she chanted again and again.

Stopping all the negative thoughts, she sprinted towards the kitchen. Picking up the wireless, she dialed a number.
As she held the receiver with one hand, she kept on rubbing her face with the other one. Her anxiety was killing her.

"Pick up god damn it!" She yelled over the phone.
''Sophia what's wrong? Just call him and ask when will he be dropping her-"
"THAT IS WHAT IS WRONG!" She looked at Erica with her red eyes,"He is not that good! You don't know him! He's a monster! H-He cheated on me and he'll do anything to get back at me for throwing him out of the house! You don't know him...you don't. ." She whispered the last part.

Erica stood there looking at her sister, she knew Sophia was acting too casual back there when she asked her about him but didn't want them to know.

Suddenly the thunder roared, and sound of heavy droplets hitting the ground could be heard.

Erica sighed and walked over to Sophia. "Let me call Xavier, he'll do something.."

Sophia sat there, fifteen minutes had passed and she was constantly calling Richard but he did not pick up. On the other hand Erica had called up Richard's office, but his Secretary told her ja had left a few hours ago. This just increased Sophia's tension. She was pacing back and forth in her drawing room with Erica constantly telling her everything will be all right.

The fact that scared Sophia was the most was that Richard was not someone you would mess with. Also, Serenity was not his real daughter, he could do anything to her. Anything.

If he could cheat on her and act like he did nothing wrong, he might as well show no mercy in case of her daughter.

Soon a car pulled up outside their house, making a screeching sound.

Xavier, Erica thought.

Erica walked over to the door and quickly opened it, but what she saw in front of her she nearly froze.

Conner was standing there, all wet. His eyes looked bloodshot red, his breath came out short. He looked like he would smack her neck in two just in a second, but he was refraining himself from that. He entered the house, slightly pushing Erica on his way.

"Hey.." Xavier growled as he walked up behind him and wrapped his arm around Erica protectivelly. "Don't ever do this again" He told Conner who of course ignored him. He walked towards Sophia who was standing there with her phone in her hand .

"Where is my daughter Sophia" He asked in a low voice.
"I-I.." Sophia couldn't answer because she was scared, for the first time. There was no jerk of a man standing in front of her. It was a father, an angry father.

"Answer me" He took another step closer to her, now just a feet away from her.

"I don't know..Richard picked her-"

"AND YOU LET HIM! SHE WAS GONE FOR MORE THAN 5 HOURS. WHAT KIND OF A SICK TWISTED MOTHER ARE YOU?" He yelled at her, making her flinch. Somewhere deep deep down she felt broken. She knew she had failed as a mother, when all she wanted was to be the prefect mother. She loved Serenity so much and if anything happened to her as small as a scratch, she would die.

Xavier frowned before walking towards Sophia and standing beside her. His brother was angry, yes but he had no right to scream on her.

"You left her when she needed you. I guess we all know who the sick twisted person is" Xavier told him in a calm voice, but Erica knew it was anything but calm. Erica too walked over towards them and stood beside Xavier,"Look I know you're angry Conner, but lets just think rationally now. Let's just go and find Serenity"

Conner stood there, his dark blue eyes looked like they were getting a shade darker, they were almost grey. Grey like the storm he was going to cause in that man's life.

Within a second, Conner grabbed Sophia by her wrist and dragged her out of the house. Xavier and Erica followed behind ''You go to his office I'll go to his apartment'' Conner yelled as the heavy rainfall cut all through the voice. Xavier nodded and ran to his car with Erica following behind.

Soon the two cars took off to different directions in search of the sick twisted man.

"Here, this one ." Sophia whispered as she looked out of the front window of his car towards a grand hotel.
They had called up at his office and took the information about where he was living. The secretary wasted no time in giving her the information, She was still his wife after all.

Conner did not even nod but quickly got out of the car. He tossed the car keys to the chauffeur and walked inside the hotel. Sophia was quick to follow. They made their way to the reception where a lady was busy on a call and another was helping someone check out.

"Richard Morin. He's here." Conner said in a monotone voice showing no emotion at all. Sophia quickly walked over to him and frantically looked at the two ladies. Before anyone of the two called the guards and threw both of them out of the hotel she quickly added. "He's my husband. He is supposed to leave for Carolina tonight and he's getting really late. Please call him and inform him we're here to pick him up."

The one on the call gave them a skeptic look but nodded never the less. She told the person on the phone to hold and began typing something in the computer in front of her. "Richard right?.." She looked through the computer for a few seconds. "Yes he's here. 20th floor room number 2205" she told him and pointed towards the lift. Sophia thanked the girl and quickly jogged towards the lift with Conner following behind. Once in, she quickly stepped forward and pressed the specific floor button. She took a step back and kept on staring at the buttons.

How could she have been such a bad mother? Her daughter was gone for more than 5 hours and all she thought was about giving her a bit freedom. But she knew she wasn't wrong that way, every child needs his or her space. The only fact was that she felt terribly bad because those words came from him.

He wasn't supposed to tell her whar kind of a mother she was. He did not have any right to do so. But somewhere, deep deep down his words effected her more than she thought they would.

He didn't matter.. he wasn't supposed to.

The bing sound of the lift brought her out of her trance. She walked out of the lift and straight ahead from one door to another looking for room number 2205.

Finally she found the room at the end of the hallway, and stood infront of it and knocked.

There was sound of a shriek laughter heard from inside. It was Serenity's laugh. Relief flooded throug her as she could hear her daughter laughing. She was okay and that was all that mattered. The door opened and a smiling Richard came into view.

That made Sohpia heart stop. Suddenly all those years she spent with him came into her mind. Everything started replaying by itself.

Those morning kisses, those morning breakfast he made those gifts those walks those hugs those make up break up scenarios..everything.
How she wished it was all a dream, how badly she wanted all of this to be a dream and just wanted him to hold her in his arms like he did earlier.

Why is it so hard to move on from your first love?

"Sophia wh-"

Before he could speak any further a swift blow was delivered to his face right in the middle, making him stumble and fall back.

"Conner!" Sohpia yelled horrified. What was he trying to do!

Ignoring her, he marched up to him and grabbed him by his collar "Don't you dare lay you hands on my child or my woman. Do you get that?" He yelled at Richard who nodded, hunching forward in a painful manner. Blood oozed out of his nose, making him groan out in pain with each second that passed.

Sophia was too horrified to even think about what he said at the moment.

"Mommy?" Serenity came running towards them from a room somewhere inside. But her face fell as soon as it had lit up. She looked at her mother and then at her father who was bleeding. "Daddy?" She whispered mirroring her mothers expression.

"Your daddy fell. He hurt his nose" Conner said as he walked over the man on floor picked her up.

"Con-Con!" She smiled and wrapped her tiny little arms around his neck. A little bracelet dangling from her hands making a clinking sound. ''Daddy gave this to me" She brought it in front of his face and shook her wrist making it clink again.

Conner did not smile but nodded. ''Say bye to him. We're going" He told her in a voice void of any emotion but still it was soft. Serenity looked at her father and shook her head. "He's hurting" she told him . No daughter will ever leave her father if he's hurting.

Sohpia looked at Richard on the floor, his hand all bloody and the floor getting dirty too.

Even after all the forces that were stopping her, she walked towards him and helped him up. Richard looked at her shocked, not believing this. Sophia did not look at him but jist helped him walk towards the washroom. She turned the faucet and let the water flow. Richard lowered his hand nad washed them. Meanwhile Sophia took the side towel and started working on his nose cleaning it from all the possible directions and trying not to hurt him.

After a few minutes, his nose was still bleeding but was under control. Also, Sophia had brought him a pressed short from his cupboard. He was now a lot cleaner than before.

When all this was done, she walked over to the door where Conner was standing all this time looking ahead and rocking Serenity in her arms. "Lets go.." Sophia walked over to him and gave serenity a small kiss on her cheek before slowly walking ahead. But before she could go any further, she heard a small thank you from behind . She turned around and saw Richard leaning agaisnt the door frame with his one hand keeping the towel on his nose.

She was about to answer when suddenly Conner grabbed her by her wrist and pulled her towards the lift.
"Ow! What was that for?" She asked him her voice low. Serenity was now sleeping soundly.

"Why were you taking to him?" He asked, still not looking at her but the space above her head.
"That was not-" before she could complete her sentence, Conner pushed her against the lift's side and stood in front of her.
''Ms. Morin I do not care what that was. All I care is how it is going to be in future. I do not want that man to be around you."
Sophia looked at Conner who was only a few centimetre away from her "Get away" She whispered keeping her hand on his chest and trying to push him away.

Conner in return let out a deep chuckle which was anything but happy. "Make me."

Sohpia opened her mouth to say something but closed it as soon as the lift opened. Conner stepped back with a satisfied smile on his face and walked out confidently ignoring the couple standing outside. Sophia hung head head low and jogged out of the lift, ignoring the chuckle from the couple.

How dare he embarrasses her like this! She was going to get back at him for going this to her. But there was only one thing on her mind as she walked towards entry.

Did he just call her his woman back there?

I'm sorry I have a very busy life and i hate it when you guys have to wait.
I'll try to update short chapters every now and then.
