Better Than Ever: Team Rancher
Timmy- er, Jimmy's Perspective-
A couple of days later Jimmy was back to normal.
He went to go and pick up Tango, excited to see him again when he was well.
Tango was waiting outside and when he saw Jimmy he blushed.
"Hey Tango!" Jimmy said, smiling and waving.
"H-hey Jim!" Tango waved back, looking very red.
"You okay? I didn't get you sick, right?" Jimmy asked in a mocking tone.
Tango rolled his eyes but looked like he was waiting for something.
"What?" Jimmy asked, confused, "You look like you're waiting for something."
Tango looked disappointed and looked away, "Er- no...I'm not."
He coughed awkwardly, confusing Jimmy even more.
"Well... something's clearly wrong. What is it?"
Tango blushed, "Do you, uh- remember anything from when you were sick?"
Jimmy thought for a moment.
"I remember you visiting and us talking but that's all. I was pretty sick. I just remember you comforting me." Jimmy said, making Tango look heart broken, "Why?"
"No reason." Tango whispered; his voice shaky.
Jimmy looked worriedly at his crush, wanting to comfort him.
"Are you- "
"Yes." Tango said sternly, wiping his eyes.
"Hmph. Will you tell me tomorrow when you're feeling better?" Jimmy asked in a pleading way.
But this didn't seem to work.
Tango looked even more hurt.
"What?" Jimmy asked, clearly, he was terrible at comforting people, "Did I say something wrong?"
Tango stood up and turned away.
"I'm, er- not feeling well today. I think I'm just going to go to bed. See you later Jim."
And he ran up to his house.
Jimmy stood up, watching Tango run.
Run with his heart.
Leaving Jimmy confused and hurt.
"W-what did I say?"
He started to cry.
-
"Is Tim here?"
Jimmy turned over in his bed when he heard Grian's muffled voice through the walls.
"Yes, he's in his room. He won't tell me what's wrong. Do you think you could help? He came home..." His mother lowered his voice though Jimmy could still hear her, "He came home crying."
Grian gasped, "What's wrong?"
"I don't know. He's in his room."
"Thanks."
Jimmy acted asleep when he heard his door open.
"Hey Tim."
Jimmy didn't respond.
"Stop acting asleep. I can tell you're not." Grian said, sitting on Jimmy's bed.
"How?" Jimmy asked, sitting up.
Grian smirked, "You're not snoring softly."
"Well, that's hard to act!"
Grian rolled his eyes but then saw how wet Jimmy's face was.
"What'd you do? Spill water on your face?"
Jimmy folded his arms and didn't respond, making Grian laugh before getting serious.
"Your mother said that you came home crying."
Jimmy was silent, trying to ignore him.
"What's wrong? I thought you were going to hang out with Tango." Grian said.
He knew that Jimmy had kissed him, though Jimmy doesn't remember that.
"He- something is wrong with him, and he won't tell me. He looked like his heart broke."
Jimmy explained what had happened and at the end, Grian nodded.
"That makes sense." He said after a minute.
"What do you mean?" Jimmy asked, surprised that Grian had understood.
"Well... look Tim I'm going to be spilling a lot right now, so try not to interrupt me."
Jimmy nodded.
"You might've... well let me start from where Tango started." Grian recounted what Tango had told him a couple of nights ago, "You were laying your head on his shoulder, and you confessed your love for him."
"I DID NOT!" Jimmy gasped.
"Not only that." Grian said, "You kissed him."
Jimmy's mouth fell open.
"Yeah. And when you pouted and said that Tango had to tell you tomorrow. Basically, you told him that you loved him, and he whispered it back to you, thinking you were asleep, but you weren't and heard him. You said that he had to tell you what he had said the next day. He didn't, but what you said today reminded him and since you don't remember kissing him... well you hurt his feelings since he likes you back."
Jimmy hesitated, but then laughed.
"Good one. That didn't- "
But by Grian's look, he wasn't joking.
"Better go tell Tango the truth."
