Everyone has a soul mate, a red string that has tied you together since birth. The strings tug you to your soulmate till the day you meet. Uraraka walked through the halls of UA high school with her friend Tsyuu. She played with her left pinky finger instinctively. It's been said your string is tied around your left pinky finger, and when you get married you see it briefly at some point during the day.
"Ochaco are you thinking about the red string again?" Her friend piped up, popping her out of her trance.
"Maybe," she chuckled as Tsyuu rolled her eyes.
"You don't have to keep fiddling with your finger, your string is still there, ribbit,"
"I know that, I was just thinking about who mine could be is all," she smiled as they walked into their classroom. The class had a few students inside, talking, laughing just interacting with each other. Momo and Todoroki sat talking. Kirishima, Kaminari and Kyoka were stood around Deku's desk. Deku sat nervously looking at the three students. Ochaco blushed at the green haired boy. Her crush on him had not dissipated yet and secretly she hoped he was the one her red string was attached to.
"Well a lot of our class hasn't found out who theirs are yet either, I mean I haven't, ribbit," she said as she sat down in front of her friend.
"Actually that's not true, a lot of the class has, some in the school and some outside of school," She said, just then Kyoka and Kirishima walked up to the pair.
"You two talking about something interesting?" Kirishima smiled.
"Actually we're talking about Ochaco's red string, ribbit,"
"Oh really? You figure out who the lucky person is?" he smirked, leaning against the desk directly across Uraraka.
"No, not yet,"
"I mean it must be someone you know already," Kyoka said, "I mean that was my experience, I ended up with Denki as mine."
"You shouldn't complain," Kirishima piped up, "I'd kill to know who mine was. Even if she ended up being a complete idiot." He laughed.
"But Kaminari isn't so bad, and like Kirishima said, you at least found him," She smiled. "It could've been Mineta." she laughed.
"Well sorry Uraraka, but I believe you're my red string so I had to disappoint Jirou here," an all too familiar voice piped up. It was Mineta. He'd gotten taller since they were first years, but he was still short two years later, and more pervy somehow. Mineta flinched as a hand hit him on the head.
"I think that's enough out of you,"
"Mineta I must say I pity the girl who ends up your soul mate," Kyouka sighed. Just then Bakugou walked into the classroom, unusually grumpy. Aoyama and Mina stood in his way.
"Move! Or I'll make you!" He growled. When he eventually reached his seat he threw his legs onto the desk.
"Kacchan are you-" Deku started.
"Fuck off Deku!" he spat.
"Someone woke up on the wrong side of the bed," Kirishima said, Bakugou glared at him angrily.
"I'll kill you," he spat.
"I think if looks could kill, buddy, you would've kept that promise," he teased, receiving a middle finger from Bakugou. Uraraka snickered at the banter presented, Kirishima was right though. If Bakugou's quirk worked with looks the entire school would be rubble.
"Say what you want about me, but I pity anyone who is tied to that guy," Mineta spoke up. Tenya walked in and ushered everyone into their seats, they all complied. Uraraka sat in the same spot a she did in their first year. They were now third years, they had started in April and they were now their second term, it was starting to get colder as December approached, meaning it was the beginning of November currently, and they had changed homeroom teachers in the beginning of the year as expected. All Might walked into the classroom and stood at the podium. She remembered Deku's reaction when he realized All Might was their new teacher. Surprisingly Bakugou wasn't that excited about it. The class started and ended and so did the next and the next. The last lesson before lunch was Mathematics. Midway through taking notes she felt a pen touch her arm, ink appearing on her arm. She looked down at what was written, but was met with a squiggle. What was he doing? She wondered. Another perk of having a soulmate was that you received marks on your skin when they did, it did have limits though, depending on how in sync you were with your soulmate. The ones who weren't too close would feel their writing on the arms, seeing what they do, but if you and your soulmate were completely in sync you'd feel everything, bruises, cuts, stubbed toes, anything, they could even feel the tiniest things, like something touching their skin.
Uraraka wasn't too close to him, but she would get scar like lumps when he cut himself or she would feel the bruise but not see it. She drew a question mark on her arm concerning the squiggle. She turned back to the lesson. It was a while till her other half replied.
'Broken pen' he wrote. She smiled shaking her head turning her attention back to the teacher but quickly wrote on her arm.
'Need me to lend you one?' She teased.
'Useful until you realize I have no clue who you are.'
'Someone's grumpy' she wrote.
'Whatever' she was taken aback by the comment.
'Sorry, I'll go then' she wrote. She focused on the lesson. She turned the page of her note book but the paper slipped down her index finger, drawing blood.
"I hate paper cuts," she mumbled under her breath, sticking her finger in her mouth.
'Be careful! I felt that too you know!' she removed her finger from her mouth shortly afterward. She smiled at the message on her arm, he stilled cared, even if he was in a mood. For the first time ever she felt something strange touch her finger. He kissed her cut. She felt his lips envelope the surface of the cut softly, and quickly. She blushed heavily.
"Uraraka!" a voice called. She shot her head up looking at the podium.
"Yes sir?" she stuttered. She felt all eyes on her.
"Does your finger hold the answer to the question on the board?"
"No sir, I had just given myself a paper cut accidentally," she said sheepishly her face blood red.
"Then if you were paying attention all along what is the answer to the question on the board? Come up and show us please," he said sternly.
"Yes, sir," she said as she stood up walking to the board. She worked out the equation in her head, she had a pretty good grasp on the current topic. Easily solving the question she was given leave to take her seat. The lesson ended shortly after.
"Finally lunch time!" she stretched in her seat. She stood up and walked to Tsyuu.
"So Uravity," Kirishima teases using her hero name. She turned to look behind her. "What really happened with the "paper cut"?" He said putting his hands up to show air quotes.
"I really did get a paper cut," she held her index up to him, showing him the small cut on her finger.
"So you weren't talking to your soulmate?"
"No, he was talking to me," she shrugged. She had known his gender a few weeks after her 17th birthday. They didn't exchange names out of fear. They weren't sure if they would ever meet and they needed to focus on studying. A lot of students didn't exchange names. The thrill of the chase, or something like that gripped them to keeping it quiet. Tsyuu kept hers quiet because she wanted to focus on class.
"You two were still talking though," he smirked.
"And? What of it?" She teased. Bakugou stood at the door waiting for Kirishima.
"Let's go Kirishima!" He growled.
"Nothing just making sure," he smirked getting up and walking towards the blonde boy. Uraraka looked at Tsyuu with a confused look.
"What was that about?" Tsyuu shrugged.
"He's just being weird," she said. Uraraka and Tsyuu started walking to the cafeteria. She felt her arm prickle with the feeling of a ballpoint pen touching her skin.
'Have you eaten?' he wrote. She smiled at the text on her arm as she walked to the line to get food.
"You got a pen on you?" she turned around expecting Tsyuu to be behind her, but instead she met with a pair of differently coloured eyes with red and white hair hanging in his face. "Oh Todoroki! I didn't realize you were behind me, I was looking for Tsyuu." She said nervously.
"Here you go," a feminine voice said behind him. A hand stuck out with a pink marker appearing out of some psychedelic sparkles. Momo smiled at Uraraka. "Keep it, it's easy to remove from your skin. It's made for your skin actually, specifically to speak to your soulmate." She smirked slightly. Uraraka blushed furiously.
"Thank you Momo," she blushed, taking the pen from her. "Was It difficult to make, since your quirk relies on you knowing what's in it?"
"No not really, I saw some being sold in a shop a few days ago, all I had to do was search what it was made of," she smiled.
"It took her a few hours to master, I could feel her working on it almost all night last night," Todoroki said. They had moved to the front of the line and got what they wanted. They had started moving to a table.
"Oh that's right you two are each other's red strings," she said, "I'm so used to not knowing mine that I forget that you two found out almost instantly." She chuckled awkwardly.
"Yep,"
"But back to the pens I feel you could make good money with them," she smiled.
"Oh I don't need the money, if people want them then they can just ask, I'll trade them for a cupcake maybe," she laughed. Uraraka giggled along as they sat. Todoroki stayed silent most of the conversation.
"Your red string is getting impatient there," he piped up as she felt a pen on her cheek.
"I'll be back!" she stood up quickly, placing her hand over her cheek. She ran to the bathroom.
Once she reached the mirror, she removed her hand and looked in the mirror.
'Where are you?' she signed turning on the tap and rolling up her sleeves. Ink was all over her arms, frantic questions about her safety. Boy, he could spam she thought a smile playing on her face. She washed off the ink on her arms and face. Drying off her arms she grabbed the pen, popping off the lid and writing on her arm.
'I was talking to a couple of friends, sorry,' She finished cleaning up and started walking back to the table. Deku, Todoroki, Tsyuu, Momo Kirishima and Bakugou were all sat at the table. Her spot had been taken by the her frog friend and her tray had been moved next to Bakugou. She looked down at her hand.
'You eaten though?' she was spotted by Deku, who sat next to Kirishima.
"Uraraka!" He waved her over, he sat on the far left of the bench when facing her, meaning she would have to sit next to Bakugou's left side. She hurried to her seat, blushing at how excited Deku was.
"Sorry, normal ink takes a while to clean off," she chuckled.
"Speaking of, how is it?" Momo asked.
"It works great! Thank you! I need to send one to him so I don't have to scrub ink off my hands every class and it saves on wet wipes," she laughed.
"What's going on now?" Kirishima piped up.
"Oh Momo started making these pens that you write to your red string with that are easy to remove, it's like the ink was never there in the first place, show them!" Uraraka giggled. She handed Momo the pen. Momo wrote on her wrist, Todoroki reluctantly held up his hand, she wiped her fingers across the text, and it wiped away easily. The group stared.
"So you used your quirk to make this?" Bakugou asked. Momo nodded. "You can buy these at the store." He spat.
"Actually could you make me two? Red if possible? It will definitely make mine more tolerant of me and then I can give the spare to Bakugou over here," he flung his arm around the blonde's shoulders. "Maybe then his red string might answer him faster."
"Kirishima, I will kill you!" he growled as the group laughed.
"Sure Kirishima," Momo laughed and produced two red markers.
"You owe her a cupcake now for her efforts!" Uraraka leaned over and poked the red heads shoulder. Her arm brushed against Bakugou's back briefly, making the already on edge teen shoot a death glare in her direction.
"I will buy her two cupcakes when they offer them at school again," Kirishima grinned at the girls. The rest of their lunch hour was relaxed, full of banter and chatter. Uraraka noticed Bakugou looking at his left arm throughout lunch. At one point during lunch he checked his arm, resting his chin on his hand, she remembered that she hadn't replied to her red string yet. She popped the lid of the pen off with her teeth. She placed the marker on her left arm writing a reply.
'Sorry, I was busy with friends, and I have eaten,' she wrote. Bakugou stood up abruptly and left.
"Bakugou? What's up?" Kirishima asked at the boy. He received no answer from the boy.
"What's his problem?" Uraraka asked watching the boy storm off.
"Beats me," he shrugged.
