Chapter 9

From their place away from headquarters, Black Mist, Astral, and Edward felt a huge surge if energy all around them, interrupting their talking. Black Mist stood at such a fast rate that Astral and Edward jumped in surprise.

"It's them," he growled, his tense nature returning. "We have to go as far away as possible."

"Who is it?" Astral asked, getting up.

"The Light Forces. Somehow, they got super mad. We have to go."

Edward sighed and puffed on his cigarette, which he found never went out. "I don't think they'll find us here. We're safe."

Black Mist whirled on Ed and growled. "They can and they will!"

"Just calm down for a second. If they're mad, then they'll concentrate that anger on the group that made them mad; I'm sure of it." He pulled Black Mist down into his lap and held him. The Dark Number protested, of course, struggling to get out of his grip, but he eventually gave up. He was still simmering down, but he was considerably calmer.

Astral looked in the general direction of the burst of angry energy worriedly, wondering if everyone was safe there.

~.~.~

All twenty-five people there covered their heads, as if the roar were a physical wave that threatened to drown them. The Light Forces were obviously angry.

"HOW DARE YOU!?" It was now clear that it was multiple voices talking because all of them spoke at different times. In the distance, they saw twelve figures. "WE ARE CREATING THE IDEAL SOCIETY!! WE ARE JUSTICE!!!"

All of the Agents plus Dark Mist covered their ears, squinting in the sudden light. Astral put up a shield to block most of the hurt.

"This isn't justice!" 17 exclaimed over the white noise. "This is instilling fear! You're even doing it to your Agents!"

"SILENCE!!!" In the near-foggy distance, all twelve figures covered their ears, as if in denial.

Dark Mist was about to go out there, but Astral held on to his wrist. "If you break contact with me, you will be out of the barrier and this dream realm."

"But if I can get closer to them, maybe we can have a normal conversation?"

"We can't," one Agent said. "Just look at them over there! It looks like they don't even want to hear anything we say."

"Then we keep persisting! We can't give up!"

The Light Forces seemed to regain their composure and linked arms, standing up straight. "We are the law that runs this corrupted world. None shall escape us. If we need to eradicate our own Agents, then so be it!" One of them separated from the group and attacked with surprising speed and power. Their victim was Astral, their intent to get Dark Mist out of their sanctuary. They both shot up in sync, and 23 had his blade ready to behead the figure. He stopped short, though.

"You have nothing to gain by killing us," he said calmly.

"We have a lot to gain!" The figure was set on his beliefs. He pulled himself back and joined the group again.

"We can talk about this," Astral said calmly. "You just have to have an opened mind."

The figures beyond talked for a bit, and then, their voices unified, said, "We're listening."

~.~.~

Edward laid on his back, looking up at the sky as both Black Mist and Astral rested. He wondered what was taking the other two so long, but he didn't dare let himself think that they were dead. Were they still having a talk? Was there a battle going on? He had no way of knowing.

Hours passed. Astral and Black Mist woke up, but the silence still hung. Both were worried about the other two, but then Astral sensed two people coming.

"I think they're back," he said, getting up.

Edward and Black Mist also rose when they saw twenty-five figure approaching them. Dark Mist was rushing to Astral and hugged him when he was close enough. They both fell to the ground, laughing in relief and joy.

"We did it!" Dark Mist exclaimed. "We got them to change their minds!"

"That's great!" Astral replied. Then, his face fell. "But we still don't know how to get back."

"We can help," a familiar set of voices whispered. "We sent our Agents to different worlds, and so we will do the same to you. Just imagine where you want to go, and we will send you there."

Astral and Dark Mist held hands, thinking about their home in Valkyrian. They felt the sudden feeling of falling, and soon they were back in GG's lab.

"Back so soon?" Ginyugoku asked, clearly confused.

"What are you talking about?" Dark Mist mirrored the expression. "We were there for days!"

GG wrote something down in his notes. "I suppose we can conclude that time works differently in different worlds, then," he mumbled. "Well, just rest up now. I'm sure the journey took a lot out of you."

Dark Mist chuckled. "You have no idea." The couple made their way back home to rest.

Honestly, this was a lot of fun to write ^^ I enjoyed this! Again, I don't really take requests unless I know I'll be interested enough to write it.

Thanks to RyuRan2200 for this idea and request! Until next time!

The End.
