Chapter 10 - The Battle Between Allies
POV: Xelqua + Myriel (switches like before)
Location: The "skies" above the Watcher Academy
My breathing ragged, I stared at Myriel, unsure of who she was or why I was feeling that way about her.
Her honey-brown waves blew in the wind of the void as she stared at me, unaware of who I was as of yet.
Then, my Watcher training kicked in.
Narrowing my eyes, I charged at her, my sword pointing out from my side.
She raised her own sword and blocked my attack.
After sparring for a few moments, we both realized the fight had to be finished with magic.
I swiftly put my sword in my other hand and focused silver magic into my clenched fist. Swinging quickly, I punched the Prime in the shoulder, sending her reeling away in the sky.
I put my sword back in my dominant hand and took notice that her wings were actually real, rather than a spell.
After dodging and sending a few blasts of magic, mine being silver and hers being golden, we both sent a continuous blast of magic through our swords at each other, creating a wind that nearly knocked the rest of the admins and Watchers out of the sky.
Myriel's golden blast soon began to overtake mine, causing me to get lower in the sky as she pushed me back.
Then, I remembered.
The image of golden magic overtaking silver came into my mind, reminding me of what I could do.
Putting on a cruel grin completely uncharacteristic of me, I pushed back harder, golden light slowly replacing my silver. However, this time it was from me.
I caught a glimpse of Verix looking at us in shock, his armor stained with the blood of other admins.
The blast of golden magic evened out, allowing me to fly back up to the Prime's level.
Her face turned from determination to surprise as my golden magic replaced my former silver magic.
The ball in the center of our magic grew and grew until it was too powerful. It exploded.
~POV CHANGE~
I gasped in pain as I was pushed backward in the sky by the blast. Both of our golden blasts had been canceled out when it exploded so there was no immediate danger of me dying.
I pushed my honey-brown hair behind my back as I steadied my sword, looking up at the ball of light.
Now, it was white with small swirls of golden magic floating around it.
I looked under it at my opponent, wondering for the twelfth time who the heck he was. He seemed so familiar but I just couldn't place my finger onto it before.
Then, it hit me.
The Watcher Initiate looked up at the ball with wide blue eyes, the same color eyes of the Prime that had gone missing 2 years before after Evo.
I gasped as if a blow had actually been dealt.
Breathing heavy, I waited until our gazes connected again. I watched in despair as the eyes of the Third Prime morphed into the eyes of a Watcher once more, his irises becoming a deep purple.
His entire behavior changed. He tilted his head down and glared at me, his sword clenched tight in his fist.
However, no matter how much either of us wanted to destroy the other's current group, we couldn't. And that was because of the ball of light. If we let it remain, it would blow up EVERYTHING. Not just the Watchers, not just the admins, but everything. All of the servers would be destroyed, all of the players killed, all of Minecraft would be gone forever. Unless we worked together to remove the ball.
A touch of blue returning to Grian's eyes, we flew up to the ball, each reaching out and touching it with our dominant hand.
With the battle lost to both sides, we knew we just had to save Minecraft.
Golden magic was never meant to be used against itself. If it was, someone could quite literally rip a hole in the fabric of reality. That meant that we had to work together to fix it.
Prime Admin and Watcher Initiate, we covered our eyes as the ball of light expanded until it disappeared, leaving us flying in the sky.
Our gazes met temporarily, purple returning to Grian's gaze, and we flew away.
The Watchers followed Grian while I summoned the admins.
I glanced at Xisuma, making sure he was managing okay after I went to help him.
I then looked at our few numbers, dread filling my heart as I realized how many admins had already returned.
I raised my sword and opened the rift, allowing us to pass through safely to the other side.
~POV CHANGE~
I breathed heavily as I flew down into the courtyard. Verix found me and placed an arm around my shoulder, his expression indistinguishable because of his gray helmet.
"You okay there Xelqua?" he asked as I nearly fell over.
I found my footing and nodded without speaking a reply.
Then, I stopped as three Instructors stepped in front of me.
My gaze flickered back and forth over the faces of Instructors Beidalia, Zerothke, and Darylev, worry filling my eyes.
However, what they said was different than what I expected.
"Well done, Xelqua," Zerothke congratulated, his expression unknown due to his mask.
"You have stopped the universe from exploding. That is always better than a win," Darylev said, encouraging me a bit.
"But it is concerning how that happened. Do you know why?" Beidalia asked.
I gulped but replied, "Golden magic isn't supposed to be used against itself. My instincts kicked in and I ended up using my golden magic against the Prime Admin. That nearly created an explosion that nobody, Watcher, Admin, or player, would want."
Zerothke nodded, clearly proud of how much I knew. "You should spend your last 3 years focusing on training that golden magic of yours. We do not need anyone blowing up the universe," he said, clearly making a point.
I bowed but kept my gaze on the middle Instructor's face.
"Yes, Instructor," I replied respectfully.
Raising his voice to speak to all of the Initiates still in the courtyard, he announced, "Return to your dorms and rest. There will be no classes tomorrow so you have time to rest. However, those with severe injuries will be allowed to rest until their wounds are not going to bother them again."
After a bunch of, "Yes Instructor,"s, all of the Initiates returned to their dorms.
Once inside, I pulled all of my armor off and collapsed onto my bed, well aware that I would have to change the bed sheets because of the blood still dripping out of wounds covering me.
Verix took off his helmet first and set it down, his white and black hair tamed from being in the helmet for so long.
Once he had gotten his armor off, he spun sideways in his desk chair and looked at me.
"So," he began.
"So," I continued, looking at him.
"So why do you think that explosion just so happened to occur?" he asked, narrowly avoiding a redundant word usage.
"Dunno. So why were you so determined to fight 'Xisuma?'" I paused, watching as his calm expression changed to one of anger.
Ah, touchy subject. Oops, I thought, half-afraid Verix was going to start hurling things at me.
He let out a sigh, his anger vanishing because of his exhaustion.
"He's my twin brother," he confessed.
I narrowed my eyes and furrowed my eyebrows in confusion. "Why did you want to kill your twin brother?" I asked, confusion coming out in my voice as I spoke Galactic.
He sighed. "Because he nearly killed me once and didn't even apologize for it," he said, his voice dropping to a growl.
My eyes widened and I straightened.
"What?!" I exclaimed in English.
