First Day.

Janet's P. O. V

"Oh my God! I still can't believe it Jan! Senior year is actually starting!" Kiara sequels and jumps beside me and I nod my head enthusiastically.

Currently, standing in front of my school, Crescent High's gates, I can't help but observe its details all over again. Its huge parking spot filled with not so luxurious and branded cars. The stone pathway in the middle of the lawn, leading up to the double wooden doors. Inside, filled with people standing along the corridors. Its interior did not scream money but it was not in poor condition either. Crescent High is not a school for the elite. It is filled with students coming from middle class families.

Kiara and I begin walking towards the front gate. People are scattered around the place in groups, hugging and kissing each other. A group of boys slapping each other's back playfully and girls checking each other's nails or hair. Then there is this group of people who are discussing how many summer school courses or books they completed.

"If you are dreaming about winning the elections, you should snap out of it," that annoying voice breaks me out of my reverie. I blink and shake my head clear of my thoughts before looking around to see Selena, my sworn enemy standing with her gang, surrounding us from three sides. I could not stop the chuckle that escapes my lips.

"You need your entire clan for the two of us? That's the kind of backup you need?" I ask her and she scoffs before rolling her eyes.

"No loser, they're my friends. I, unlike you, have alot of people who got my back," she retorts and I raise my eyebrows at that.

Yeah, your friends, right. I wonder where they go and hide whenever you get humiliated, I think to myself.

It's not that I didn't have it in me to say that out loud, I just didn't want to. I think Selena already knows this and no matter how much I hate her, I don't want to rub it in her face that she does not have any real friends.

"You know what Selena, we really don't have time for this. So why don't you just back off for now and use all this energy during the elections?" Kiara speaks up from beside me in a bored tone before pushing past Selena and walking ahead, pulling me with her.

"Why are you so dazed today? You totally spaced out when I was talking to you back there," Kiara asks me once we enter the main building. The corridors are filled with people filling their lockers or catching up with each other. Luckily, our schedules were mailed to us so we have less work.

"Uh- nothing, just sleepy," I tell her and she nods. Just then, our third musketeer, Delna comes running to us with a grumpy Andrew following closely behind.

"Hey!" she yells before she comes and hugs me. She then does her weird handshake with Kiara. Andrew waves at me and I wave back. That's when I notice it. I stare at Andrew's slightly swollen forehead. When he notices me staring, he immediately covers it and looks away.

"Haha, are you serious? She actually said that?" Delna laughs out loud along with Kiara who is going on about how two girls exposed each other about their fake face parts. I usually never take part in their weird conversations. The three of us, Kiara, Delna and I are three very different people.

Kiara is my cousin and a true gossip girl. She knows everything that's happening in every corner of the school. She's fun to be around and always up to something.

Delna is reserved with the people she doesn't like. With us, she's the most straight forward person ever. She will past the most insulting comment and not bat an eyelid about it. She's very open about her thoughts, like an open book.

"Hey Andrew, why you hiding your face, huh?" Kiara asks Andrew when her laugh dies down a little. At that, Delna starts staring at her feet guiltily.

"Actually, what happened is that we both got drunk last night, me a little more. So while we were both walking back home, I was about to run into a pole and he saved me. But in an attempt to save me, he fell face first on the ground. So his forehead is kind of swollen..." Delna narrates the whole incident. Kiara shares a knowing look with me and just then the bell signals the beginning of the first class.

Kiara and Delna have their class together so they walk away after waving goodbye.

Andrew and I start walking towards our classes which are on the same floor.

"She's an idiot." I start a conversation and Andrew rolls his eyes.

"Not again Jan. You and I both know that I didn't do it because I like her. You would have done the same thing," he reasons and I shake my head.

"And fall face first on the ground? Nah. I wouldn't do that. I would have let her fall and laughed my ass off while it happened. I would have never missed out on the fun," I tell him and he gives me a dumbfounded look.

"So that means in times of need or in danger, you would not put yourself before her and save her?" he asks me and this time I scoff.

"First of all, she would not have died if she walked into the pole and I would take her immediately to put on some ice. I love Delna and I would put my life on risk if it comes to that, but there's a difference. In times of crisis, I would stand with her, help her get through anything, share her pain and stuff. You, on the other hand, alway take the blow first, before it even reaches her. What I do, is friendship and support. What you do is love and protection. You see, there is a difference," I explain my point to him like a love expert that I am. Note the sarcasm.

"You know, you talk like you have been in love all your life. Actually, in truth, you haven't even dated anybody. So quit giving advice," he tells me and I give him a sarcastic smile.

"Of course I haven't dated or fallen in love! It's because I know what it's like. That is why I have no intentions of doing it. When love walks in, logic walks out. It's a ridiculous idea," I explain and he shakes his head while chuckling before walking off towards his class.

I narrow my eyes at his reaction but ignore it anyway. I start walking towards my class, dodging the people hurrying to their classes. That's when I notice it.

The old chemistry lab. It is usually closed and used only in times of emergency, but right now, I can see two shadows inside. I look towards my class to see the door is still open, that means the teacher has not yet arrived, so I can check on who's inside. I start walking towards the class when suddenly those shadows move. I step aside from the door and wait near the lockers to see who exits the room.

A person in a black hoodie exits the room, efficiently hiding his face. He starts walking in the opposite direction and I walk into the classroom to catch the second person and confront him or her. It's easier to corner one person and get information.

I enter to see there is no one inside.

How's that possible? I'm sure I saw two people.

Just then the door swings open and I'm pushed into the wall.
