The classy pub was buzzing with people.
It was lunch hour, and the waiters were sprinting back and forth to serve, one of them nearly knocking into Nila.
"I'm so sorry ma'am." The ginger in her work uniform kept repeating.
"It's fine." Nila reassured her.
"I'm v-"
"Oi! Alice get a move on!" Someone called from behind them.
The waitress apologised one last time before rushing to the kitchen.
Nila then went to sit in one of the empty booths at corner, and ordered herself a drink whilst she waited for her companion.
"So sorry that I'm late." She heard him before she saw him.
"Oh, I've only been here five minutes." Nila smiled as the boy pulled onto the seat in front of her.
The two shared a bit of small talk and ordered their lunch, Nila often mentally noting the similarities he held with his brother.
They had the same brown eyes, but Amjad lacked the same warmth.
They both smiled a lot, but Amjad didn't smirk as much.
They were both so friendly, but there wasn't ever a necessity to fill the silence with Amjad.
And she could talk about politics with him without feeling judged.
"India passed the law for LGBTQs."
Nila said.
Amjad's smile dimmed a little. "Yeah, wasn't exactly something necessary."
"What do you mean?" She raised an eyebrow.
The boy began to explain, but they were interrupted by the arrival of their food.
Both tucked in quickly, and forgot all about their conversation.
