Emotions

You woke up first taking in your surroundings that all three of you had shifted during the night. Shinjuro was flat on his back with Senjuro completely on top of him. Senjuro still had a light grip on your hand and Shinjuro's hand was laying on top of your lower back since you were on your stomach. Rolling over very carefully to not wake them up, you went on your back to stretch out your stiff limbs. Satisfied that everything popped you slowly sat up and padded out of the room to go to the spare room where your belongings are. Grabbing everything you took the overnight bag to the baths. They were still sleeping so you washed quickly, cleaned your teeth, and dressed in a short yellow, red, and orange kimono. You notice two things simultaneously. It matched the Rengoku household and, you really needed to stop fixing your kimonos to be short. It was like 100 degrees though so you should be forgiven. Rushing, you took everything to the kitchen wanting to surprise them with breakfast. It was the least you can do to be thankful for them extending your stay overnight. You made a quick egg over rice breakfast. They had leftover rice, so you heated up and made eggs with cheese. You remembered they liked it.

"Something smells good in here!" You turned to smile happily at Senjuro who came over to marvel at your cooking. "Wow, Nee-Chan! I love it so much when you cook or bring food. Dad doesn't cook well...." You stifled a chuckle at that bringing him in for a loose side hug.

"I can try to teach him so neither one of you won't die of starvation." You pulled him in closer to blow raspberries on his cheeks loving the way he screamed a laugh. "You and your dad finish getting ready while I serve breakfast okay?" You knew Shinjuro was up you heard him. Senjuro agreed to run off to do what you suggested. Shaking your head you finished breakfast while making some toast. Why not add some western flair to it.

"You didn't have to do this. You're the guest." You looked up from your spot in the kitchen watching Shinjuro take a seat at the table looking at the food you made.

"Well, Senjuro informed me of your exceptional cooking skill so I just had to one-up you on that." You giggled at the blush that covered his cheeks. He grumbled glaring at you playfully. That's when Senjuro came back down plopping in his seat. You served them their food before sitting down with your own plate.

"Itadakimasu!" All three of you exclaimed before digging in. Shinjuro had changed out of his plain dirty grey haori and had on a black kimono with a white haori over it. You liked it. Senjuro had on his usual attire but the black and white switched.

"I love the outfit change." You smirked at the snort the man let out. The rest of breakfast went by in comfortable silence. Shinjuro grabbed all of your plates to go wash them. You were about to get ready to leave when a crow came in startling all of you.

"Caw! caw! Rengoku family needed at Butterfly mansion caw! Caw! Immediately! Caw!" It got an affirmative from Shinjuro before leaving the estate. It was tense for a second before you got up.

"I'm coming with you guys. It's probably Kyoujuro." He said nothing as you grabbed snacks, water, and Senjuro's hand. "Shinju-San can you run for a bit?" He nodded his head not even really looking at you. He was worried about Kyoujuro. Without a word, you handed the bag and water to Senjuro and, picked him up maneuvering him to your back. "Hold on tight sweetheart." He did as instructed and, waited for Shinjuro to take the lead. With a grunt, he was off. Damn, he was still fast despite being retired. You ran right behind him following a path you didn't recognize. After about 10 minutes of running full speed, he slowed down to a speed walk. You did the same almost dying because of the grip Senjuro had on your windpipe. You put him down once seeing the mansion so the two of you can speed walk. Shinjuro entered the mansion with you in tow to be greeted by Shinobu the insect pillar. You have seen her a couple of times but, never conversed. She was extremely angry but, covered it up with a smile. Maybe it was for her little sister's sake.

"Ara, ara. I see you brought company with you Rengoku-San" She looked directly at you but, Senjuro tightened his hold on you plastering himself to you as well. "No worries though, she is fine. Come" The three of you followed her through intrinsic hallways until she stopped at one opening the shoji doors. Your breath hitched seeing a pale, unconscious Kyoujuro. He was bandaged heavily along with his eye. Did he lose his eye?

"What happened." You stood a little away feeling Senjuro slip away from you to kneel beside his brother with his father.

"To keep it short and sweet he fought upper moon 3." You broke out in a cold sweat. Did he fight an upper moon? And lived? Wait he wasn't by himself "He did extremely well in protecting Tanjiro, Inosuke, and Zenitsu. The demon had to run due to dawn breaking. He saved everyone's lives on that train. You should be proud." She paused tilting her head at the gentle way Shinjuro was running his hand through his son's hair. "Nezuko the demon sister of Tanjiro used a form of blood art coagulation to keep him from bleeding out. All of our healers plus Nezuko managed to completely close the hole in his left lung, stomach, liver, and his intestines as well. I am keeping him medicated and changing his bandages to keep him from getting an infection." She said a few more things before leaving the three of you there. It would be quite a while before he woke up. About a week or two she said. Aoi had come in with a bale of water and rags before bowing and leaving.

"I am so proud of you." You looked at Shinjuro who was only looking at Kyou "I really hope you can hear me. I am so proud of you my son. You wear the Rengoku as well as the Flame Hashira title very well." He bent down placing a kiss on his forehead before sitting up. "Your mother is so proud of you as well. You protected and saved everyone. You truly are one of a kind." He said a few more heart-touching things before moving back to let Senjuro talk to him. He moved back to sit next to you.

"I am proud of you Shinjuro." He looked at you in surprise. You're proud of him? "Slowly but, surely. You're allowing the old Shinjuro to come back. The one who cared. The one who loved with all of his heart. The one who would do anything for his family. That's the retired Flame Hashira we all know." His eyes widen staring at you with some sort of awe. At least someone appreciated the way you talked. An image of Hina's soft smile every time you spoke popped up though. You shook your head not wanting to think about them right now. You were here for the Rengoku family.

"Thank you...." Two words that held a whole lot more meaning than you'll probably ever understand. The three of you stayed a bit longer, taking your leave when it started getting dark. You timed it and, figured that on the way back you guys are going to pass by your estate first. The walk back was silent just a little tense but, understandably so. It was a silent agreement that the two of you would take turns seeing Kyoujuro all the way until he came back home. Shinjuro was also going to stop drinking and get his act right.

"Thanks for walking me home." You bent down to hug Senjuro and kiss him on top of his head. You turned to Shinjuro for a hug and, he wrapped you up in a hug about to let go just as fast but, you quickly pulled him down to kiss his forehead. He blinked at you before coughing and turning away. He's so shy. "The two of you get home safe." They waved going on their way as you turned to go inside. You had an eventful day. Emotionally draining as well. You had an emotionally draining week if you're being honest. Too many emotions and feelings went wild. "I'm taking my ass to sleep I'll bathe really well in the morning." You threw yourself on your futon, you'll change the sheets and whatever else once you wake up in the morning.
‐--------------------------------------------------------------
For the next week, you busied yourself with going to the market for yourself and, for Shinjuro to teach him how to cook. You also, visited Kyoujuro every day bumping into the rest of the pillars there. Mitsuri was the sweetest out of all of them and, Obanai the Snake Pillar glared at you the whole time. You wished he would confess to her already so she can stop finding a husband. Lord, give you strength. You saw the Wind Pillar come in but, the nasty look he gave you was to be used as a deterrent but, you ignored him. Not your fault he's feral and ugly. His brother Genya was just as mean but, was easily flustered and, loved his big brother to death. The only pillars that were present that you got along with were the Love Pillar, Water Pillar, Mist Pillar, and the Stone Pillar. Muichiro just wanted to sleep in your lap, Mitsuri loved everyone, Giyu was reserved but liked your presence and, Gyomei was just...a gem. Pure. The purest of the pure. You remembered a conversation the two of you had.

"I do not know what weighs so heavy on your heart but, I hope you find peace within yourself and, with whoever or whatever is causing so much turmoil." He was crying and, you didn't like it. Without really thinking- maybe you wanted to die for a second who knows- you wiped his tears gently. He simply smiled.

"You do not have to cry Gyomei. I am not the one who needs to fix it. The others do. It's just...I dislike them so much but, at the same time I love them." Since you were still standing in front of him he raised a hand to rest on your shoulder.

"If Uzui-San and his three wives really care. They will come around and, maybe you can become their wife again." You looked at him surprised. Once again you were reminded why he was considered the strongest pillar. "I knew who you were the whole time despite only meeting you once in passing." You bowed your head willing the sudden urge to cry back down. The two of you sat together in silence praying over Kyo who had gotten a lot of his color back and, wasn't sweating. The wound was healing really well too.

You shook your head. It really hurt to think about them. Your ex-husband and ex-wives. It hurt your heart to think about them but, you were serious about needing space. You needed peace of mind. If they cared like Gyomei-San said then the time would come when they would come to you. If you're being honest, you rather make up with Suma and Hinatsuru first before Makio and Tengen. They both were very head-strong individuals. Too head-strong. Neither one knew how to set their pride and ego aside. Not even for their wives. Especially you. Dammit. To hell with emotions. You were so lost in thought about recent events you forgot that you were standing in the Rengoku household.

"What are you thinking so hard about?" You turned to Shinjuro who you forgot you were in his kitchen here. Senjuro was at school at the moment so it was just the two of you.

"How complicated emotions and feelings are." He hummed in agreement at that. You were happy that the man was keeping his word and hadn't had any sake. At the market, the usual man he goes to, to buy it was shocked and kept trying. You don't blame him for trying, Shinjuro had plenty of money that he dropped off weekly. Now, the guy was losing a shit ton of money he was dependent on weekly and, monthly just from Shinjuro alone. There were plenty of other drunks whose pockets he can rob. You were pretty sure you saw silver hair at the stand but, as soon as you took a second look it was gone. The feeling of eyes on you though quite never went away no matter how hard you looked for the source.

"I'm all ears if you want to talk about it." You decided to tell him. He was an amazing listener and when he wasn't drowning in his depression he gave pretty solid advice. His experience as a father, a man, a Hashira, and a swordsman shined through. You told him how you would rather make up with Suma and Hinatsuru. Well, Hinatsuru first because Suma was easily swayed by Makio's and Tengen's headstrong personalities and, she would follow in their footsteps which is annoying. She has her own personality to be acting the way she acts when those two are around. Makio and Tengen were something different entirely. They needed to communicate and, take actions to make you feel wanted again. If they really wanted a chance.

"So, you have problems with all of them as a whole, however, your real deep-rooted problems are with Tengen and Makio. This is understandable, I remember Makio as a little girl. She was always like that. It's a miracle really that she and Tengen get along so well. Well, probably got Hinatsuru and Suma to thank for that. More Hinatsuru since she is the most level-headed out of all of them." You nodded in agreement with the older man. "I think Tengen is a bit too arrogant for his own good. All of the Hashira's are including my Kyo in his own way. However, no one calls themselves a God but him. I think you made the right choice in leaving him. Make him work for something. I don't know everything so, I'm just working with what I got."

"It's more than enough Shinji-" He smirked at the nickname running his hand through your hair in a comforting matter. You loved when he did that. He was so sweet. Perfect father material. "What should I do if I run into any of them? I would like to say that'll I'll be brave enough to face them but, I'm pretty sure I will run. Not ideal if I want them to fix their wrongs." You gave a humorless laugh the hand never moving from your head.

"I'm not going to lie and say it'll be easy. It won't. Nothing about romance, feelings, emotions, love is easy. Anyone who tells you that never truly been in love. There will always be tribulations in all relationships whether big, small, or in between. It's up to the participating parties what they want to do. You made up your mind. You want them to work on it, really digest and take in your absence while you give yourself some much-needed reprieve. At the end of it, only the five of you can determine where you go. Will you cry and move on? Or cry and become their wife again? Crying will be involved either way. That's just the way it works." You stood silent taking in everything he just told you. You said nothing as you simply leaned on him and, he moved his hand from his head to your shoulder to pull you in.

"That means a lot to me Shinji...Thank you for being so kind." He hummed rubbing his hand up and down your arm in a soothing manner. You don't know how long the two of you sat there but, it was long enough for Senjuro to come home. Both of you greeted him, passing him his bento to eat when he came back out of his room. Ever since the change in his father, Senjuro has been very open with his affection for the man. You watched the two interact and, you couldn't help but smile at them. They were so happy. Even if Shinjuro didn't want to openly admit it. He will come around though. You just know it.

"Caw caw! Rengoku is awake! Caw! Caw!" The three of you looked at each other before running out the door. This time Shinjuro was carrying Senjuro on his back. Senjuro had on blue pants with a white haori tied like a shirt. Shinjuro had on the same thing except for red pants and a black haori. Both were very clean, and both smelled good. His stubble was gone, hair clean and tied up in a high ponytail, tamed. You had on only a haori borrowed from Shinjuro tied haphazardly. Fuck it. The three of you made it to the butterfly mansion in record time. Maneuvering through the hallways, Shinjuro entered the room first with Senjuro in his arms to a beautiful sight. Kyo was wide awake, sitting up, and, was staring with both eyes at his family. Well, only one eye was good, the other had a milky film covering it. The left eye had the film. You waited by the door watching the three interact. Shinjuro put Senjuro down to run to him as he slowly made his way to them. Kyo's eyes never left his father's. They were having a silent conversation. Shinjuro kneeled in front of his son and, carefully pulled him towards him to slowly embrace him in a hug. He rested his head on top of his son's, tears coming down his face.

"I'm so glad to see you're awake Kyo. You make me so proud. You did so well." It took all three seconds before Kyo clutched onto his father and, wailed. You decided to give them some privacy to go roam around the halls. Maybe you can see Tanjiro...

"Y/N-Chan!" Jumping you turned around to see Tanjiro with...Inosuke the boar-head kid and Zenitsu the loud scaredy-cat.  "How are you?" You smiled at him as you went to embrace him in a hug.

"I'm glad to see you're doing okay." You rubbed his chin finding it cute how he reacted like a cat. Until the blonde one exploded.

"FIRST YOU KEEP NEZUKO-CHAN ALL TO YOURSELF AND NOW THIS PRETTY GIRL!? WHAT IS IT WITH YOU AND HOGGING ALL THE PRETTY GIRLS HAH!?" You watched confused as Inosuke yelled before head-butting Zenitsu.

"SHUT UP MONITSU! FIGHT ME!" You watched the trio interact making you giggle. Sensing a fight despite the three of them still recovering you grabbed the blonde one to hug him, resting your chin on top of his head. It was funny to see how he both seized up and sagged into the embrace.

"It's not very nice of you to fight your friends Zen. Be nicer." You moved away watching him amusedly melt to the floor to go to Inosuke. You swiftly removed his boar mask before grabbing him and, placing a firm kiss on his forehead. You ignored the way the blonde screeched. "You too Inosuke. Fight him later on when all of you are feeling better okay?" With that said you left the three of them to go back to the Rengoku family. You wanted to pay your respects. When you got back, everything seemed back to normal. Unfortunately, he had a visitor. Someone you didn't want to see. Shinjuro was the first one to see your frozen form in the doorway.

"I see you've healed flamboyantly!" Before you can leave your eyes met Kyo's who lit up at the sight of you. Oh no.

"Y/N! COME HERE!" You ignored the way Tengen's whole back tensed. You took a deep breath and, with more haste than you thought capable you were within range of Kyo who grabbed your wrist with a yank making you fall completely on top of him. You heard Tengen take a deep breath.

"Kyo! You're still injured don't act silly!" You moved to get off of him as he simply laughed. He didn't let you get far as he got you comfortable in his lap. You wanted to melt on the spot straight into the floor. Is there a blood demon art like that? You quite literally saw Tengen's eyes glaring holes into the side of your face. Did you want a look? Yes. You took a look quickly averting your eyes. Oh, he was livid. The veins around his eyes from his temples were bulging despite the smile he had. His Fuschia-colored eyes looked red. Shit. Stay strong.

"It's so nice to see you Y/N! I heard everything you would tell me while I was in a coma. I'm surprised I remember all of it to be honest." You turned to look at him in surprise feeling flustered. That means he heard you venting about Tengen and your ex-wives. It made sense why he was being so bold about it. Technically you were single even though your heart wasn't.

"So am I...Any good news?" He nodded his head, his smile dropping just a tiny bit.

"There's a chance I can get some of my vision back in my left eye which is a miracle. I'll take even a quarter of my vision back if it means I can use it in any way! Also, the wound on my stomach is healing really well. It will be a while but, I know one day I'll be back brand new!" He laughed forcing a chuckle out of you. You chanced a look at Tengen again holding for a few seconds. He looked the same but, his eyes were different. You couldn't tell what he was thinking.

"That's fantastic news, my friend!" You hated that you can tell he was tense.

"How're your wives doing?" Is it too late to kill him? Would he truly be missed that much? You didn't look at anyone. He was doing this on purpose. You felt the sweat on your face as you clenched your jaw. You can literally feel the flabbergasted look Shinji was giving his son. However, he was smiling staring at Tengen waiting for an answer.

"They could be better." It was tense now. So tense. Awkward. God, help you. Someone intervene. You were going to combust right here in his lap. "Going through a few...things that could hopefully be fixed." He was staring at you the whole time you knew he was. You felt it. "Hopefully it can be fixed." You were going to die. Goodbye world. You heard a noise coming from outside the room assuming it was the Kakushi.

"Ah, you're awake!" It was not them, it was Mitsuri who scared the shit out of you.

"HI MITSURI!" You screamed it out of fright, even though to her it just seemed you were excited to see her. She took it in stride.

"Y/N!" In a flash, you were off of Kyo's lap and, being swung around. She was cute you'll give her that. She rubbed your noses together and, you swore you felt the jealousy coming off in waves off of Tengen. "You're so adorable! Ah! I wish we can get married! I know you love women, I can make you so happy!" What was going on?! First Kyo and now Mitsuri. She was going to get you killed by Obanai. Or get herself punted into next year by Tengen.

"I thought you wanted a husband?" You screamed at the voice behind you latching onto Mitsuri tighter who just squealed. She wrapped both arms more securely around your waist to hold you against her. Dammit, Obanai.

"Don't be mean Obanai! I have nothing against Y/N! She is perfect. She can cook, clean, fight, heal, is a great listener, and knows how to make anyone happy. She is the best wife anyone can ever dream of. If a man or another woman was to ever disappoint her I'll be sure to make her forget all about them." She made you turn to her, flustered beyond relief, to see her smirking uncharacteristically  "Isn't that right babe?" What the fuck. What the actual fuck. She's hot. When did she get this hot? No wonder Obanai loved her. You love her too.

"What the hell are you doing?!" Once again, the Hashira's are a different breed because you screamed at the sound of Sanemi so fucking close behind you.

"MAKE NOISE YOU ASSHOLE!" You couldn't help it. Way too much was going on for you to truly comprehend what was going on. There was a lot of tension as well. You were unaware of even when Shinjuro left with Senjuro in tow.

"You make too much noise." In a blink of an eye, he was in front of you squeezing your cheeks together roughly. "Why don't you be a good girl and be quiet for a bit." That's it. Heaven here you come. "Or I'll make you." You need to get out now.

"WOOO, IT IS GETTING HOT IN HERE. I NEED AIR. WOOOO BABY! I'LL BE OUTSIDE IF ANY OF YOU FUCKING GORGEOUS ASS PEOPLE NEED ME! HOLY SHIT!" Mitsuri let you go watching as you practically ran out of the room to head outside and fall flat on your back spread eagle. You don't know what was going on but, holy fuck you weren't going to make it. Neither was Tengen.

"Someone better explain to me, and explain to me quickly what the fuck that was." He was beyond livid. He was stuck between wanting to attack everyone in the room and, running outside to talk to you.

"You're a fucking ass who messed up."
