Kalos

I know I've mentioned before why I don't like Kalos, but I've never really gone in-depth about my feelings

The amount of Pokémon this gen did prove to be disappointing, especially what with just about every one of them being spoiled before I even had the chance to get the game ;-;

The rivals: too darn nice. It may sound weird, but I will the jerk rivals back.

-When a rival is really nice, it kind of takes away the fun of beating them. Think about it. Having to battle rivals that aggravate you is worth a whole lot more satisfying. Defeating nice kids kind of makes me feel bad ;-; (Or, if Im being honest, nothing much, since they never seem to have any profound reaction to being beat and remain just as nice as when you first met them.)

-The Kanto pandering.

It's pretty obvious how much people love Gen 1, and while I have no qualms with the first generation, what I don't like is all the pandering.
*I thought it was kind of messed up how in the XY game you get a Kanto starter that pretty much outshines your first. For example, none of the Kalosian Starter Pokémon can mega evolve, but the Kanto starters being able to do so makes the formers look so much bleaker.

Also, Mega Evolution
*Found it pretty weird/disappointing that none of the Pokémon native to Kalos, the region where Mega Evolution is being heavily explored/studied, can Mega Evolve. (I know there are some mystical Pokémon that can, like Diancie, but that still doesn't really help seeing as how most of the Pokémon that can Mega Evolve are all normal.)

*The graphics/region
-I think the region is fairly pretty, but the shifts in climate don't really make sense on their own. To be honest, I initially saw it as this: When you start the story in Vanville Town, it's Spring. When you travel and travel and wind up in Cyllage City, it's Summer. Then on to Dendemille Town, Autumn. And Snowbelle City, Fall. (Basically what I'm saying is that I initially took this for symbolizing the perceived time on your journey, and how it would take at least almost a year to travel around the region in -presumed- real time).

...But if that's not the case then it's just weird.

*The graphics looked amazing when the game first came out, now whenever I look at them I can't help but just think about how poorly they've aged. I think Sun&Moon handled the 3D much better.

-Also, just a personal thing, but I don't really much care for the 3D models in Gen 6. The colors aren't as saturated, making them look kind of drab and far less vibrant than their 2D predecessors.

*Gameplay
-I didn't find gameplay to be particularly challenging, and the Champion+Elite Four didn't put up much of a fight, either. The only rival I could take seriously was Calem, and even he wasn't as strong as I had hoped.

**ALSO**
The roller skates would have been much cooler if you could take them off. Seriously. Trying to move around outdoors with the circle pad was so annoying. I don't want to fly all the way down the street just by trying to move a few steps!

*Story*

-Honestly,,,,, I would have been able to forgive some of the other things I mentioned if only the story wasn't so... terrible.
-So we have Team Flare, whose grunts are so contrasted from their leader that it's a bit confusing. (Also, no, Team Flare is not and never will be anything stylish whatsoever.)
-Lysandre was actually kind of interesting, but I didn't really like him. I also found it weird how he'd just randomly burst into philosophical/suspicious talk and no one really cared. But this is the Pokémon World after all. No one bats an eyelash to something like that.

*
Other stuff... The Gym Leaders were okay. If I were being quizzed I probably wouldn't remember half of them, but they were decent, I suppose.

The Legendary Pokémon I didn't really have any problems with.

,,,,,,,

Chances are I forgot something and when and if I remember I'll probably add it in ;^^
