Four | Heroic Disappointment

>Four | Heroic Disappointment<

After Midoriya's trip to the hospital, which lasted for about three days, he was finally let out and could return to his normal life. At first, he didn't like the idea, what would people think of a kid who hasn't been to school for days and returns with a quirk, suspicious right? But he wanted to see the looks on everyone's face when he begins to breathe fire out, when small objects like pens and pencils are suddenly attracted to him.

"Such a shame no one will get to see my new quirk at school." Sighed Midoriya childishly, almost letting out a small whine from his voice box as he got up from his seat on the bed and headed to the mirror. Instead of his usual hunched and cowering position, he stood tall and pridefully.

Today was the day that they had the physical test at U.A and he was brimming with happiness. It was the school he had always wanted to go to when he was a child, but now it was for a completely different reason completely.

"Hmmm," he hummed underneath his breath as he straightened his black uniform, his hair was wild as usual with a two toned colour of lighter green and darker green, his whole uniform was clean and pristine, it was new since Katsuki Bakugou burnt through the last one, there was only one feature which changed on his body and that was his eyes, it didn't have the same scared look it used to have, the twinge of fear and worry he didn't wish to have, instead it was replaced with confidence, strength and some may even say valour, "I kinda like this toned me."

"Izuku!" He heard a yell come outside the door, he quickly moved through the door and met up with Inko, his mother, at the front which led to him being attacked with a giant hug, "good luck yeah?" She said.

"Ok mum," Said Midoriya with a smile. Despite knowing his mother did discourage him, she was the only one by his side for comfort. Telling someone something and not helping them is one thing but inko, despite doubting him stayed for his comfort, "see you."

Midoriya left to U.A, in every step he took closer to the school, he felt himself getting closer to All Might's destruction which pleased his thoughts immensely. A note fell in front of his face and curiously Midoriya grasped onto it, and read the contents which said:

"You MUST get in. - T.S"

Midoriya knew exactly who it was and made a mental note not to exceed the standards of his peers, he didn't wish for attention from them as he would never really want to get to know the naive little liars, it reminded him too much of himself.

On his arrival, he was overwhelmed by the many quirks student had in the building, he analysed each and everyone in his head, not noticing a can below his foot. He stepped onto the can and ended up almost tripping, his reflexes were about to kick in until he felt a pat on his back and was hovering slightly.

"Sorry for going crazy with my 'quirk' there," said the girl awkwardly as she pressed her fingertips together and huffed onto her hands, "I just think it would be a bad omen if you tripped." She continued with a smile. The girl then proceeded to leave Midoriya standing still in his stature gobsmacked, "well, good luck! Later."

Midoriya felt it was nice when people didn't know about his quirk, but doubted the girls friendliness, would she have spoken to him if she knew he was once quirkless.

"I doubt it." He grumbled, but even then Midoriya still owed the girl and so he sighed. He took steps heading into the auditorium excitedly. He sat next to Katsuki and watched the stage, where the hero Present Mic was standing, he kept calling out the audience who replied with only silences.

"Present Mic, a voice-based quirk, despite being a hero his quirk is still quite magnificent." Muttered Midoriya getting an angry response from Katsuki next to him.

"Shut it." Said Katsuki whilst kissing his teeth. Present Mic went on ahead to explain the courses of the exam, the different villains that they may have to face. Midoriya began muttering to himself about the many different plans he devised in his head for the event.

One boy a few rows in front of Midoriya stood up and began questioning the mistakes on the paperwork, then he turned and called out Midoriya himself, "if you think U.A is a place to chatter, you better think otherwise and stop distracting people."

"Apologies." Said Midoriya, the boy's bluntness had caught him off guard and so he scowled as the people in the rows in front of him giggled. He glared at them but didn't say anything else. Katsuki beside him looked at him oddly.

"Since when was a Deku one to scowl." He thought whilst watching the boy, but still listening to the hero in front of him, he realise two different things about Midoriya which no one else may notice: firstly, he had this air of confidence when usually he was usually shaking in his boots half the time. Secondly, his eyes were always glowing with glee from the sight or even presence of a hero and now he didn't give any reaction at all.

Katsuki was going to comment on it but hadn't had the chance when they were put into separate groups. He wanted to cuss Midoriya out ever so badly for making him overthink about him.

"Fucking Deku, should've destroyed his ass." Swore Katsuki as he turned away from Midoriya and parted ways with him. His rubbed his hands together and become warmer and warmer, the pores on his skin soon let out sweat which was encased with nitroglycerin.

Midoriya's heart was pounding, it wasn't nervousness or fear but instead glee. His palms and body shook with anticipation and joy but the people around misinterpreted his body language, and began calling themselves lucky. He scoffed at their stupidity but didn't do anything to deny it, they would have to see who he has become.

The girl who had helped him earlier was there, pressing her fingertips together and looking around.

"And start!" Said Present Mic, getting a confused look from the other students, but Midoriya had just began running into the field, "what's the matter? There isn't no countdown in a battlefield now go!" He had yelled as the other followed behind Midoriya.

The first robot came along and so Midoriya held his hand out, and started to make a spiral motion, the screws of the robot soon came flying towards him and the brittle robot fell onto the floor.

"Only a one pointer." He sighed as he continued to run into the depths of the battlefield. He kept on getting one pointers and sometimes a two pointer but that was it, he hadn't gotten anything more which started to get his blood running cold in anger. Everyone had taken on all the other robots before he had a chance to use his quirks.

Midoriya smiled.

"6 minutes and 2 seconds." The announcement made.

The gimmick then appeared in the midst of the crowded area, destroying buildings around it and scraping the bottom of the floor. Everyone ran away from the gimmick, it was completely useless them and they knew no points would be gained from and Midoriya too began to run away.

"Ouch." He had heard a voice from behind, curiously he turned and saw the girl who had helped him up. He cursed underneath his breath and turned to her direction, he didn't do it for the heroic person he once was, he had did it as a favour so he wouldn't  owe her anything.

Smaller objects from the rubble began to combine together at his feet and propelled him upwards to the robot and then he inhaled a large amount of air, and held it in until he was close enough and then he breathed out many flames out his oesophagus, the high temperature of the flames had melted the robot's top half.

The surrounding people watched in awe of his powers, wondering why he hadn't used it when he should've, it was overwhelming to say the least and for Midoriya to not use it was odd.

Midoriya fell from the sky, he opened his arms wide and looked at the sky above, slightly distracted from the beautiful marshmallow clouds from the scene above, small pieces of items slowly came up to his side and embraced his body completely as he fell downwards onto the ground, he slowed it down but his weight and gravity made it harder to control.

"Ah, I'm gonna injure myself." He sighed disappointedly in the midst of the rubble. Then a smack came making contact with his hand. He quickly turned to see the girl had once again saved him, as he was floating in midair, "zero gravity huh?"

Though it did save him, he was still in debt to the girl. He fell from a small distance and collapsed onto the ground, he winced but it wasn't painful as he had thought. The girl hurled up by his side and Midoriya disgustedly turned around.

"If I could get a few more points." He sighed as he laid upon the ground, but despite this disappointing tone his voice took, there was a small warm feeling he had in the pit of his chest which made him feel ever so guilty for feeling.

He felt happy. From saving someone nonetheless and he couldn't help but think how he can save more.

"No. No, no, no." Midoriya grumbled as he watched the girl beside him flinched. She looked shocked at him tiny outburst but was too sick to say anything about it.

"The test is over!" Yelled the announcer.

The other ones taking the exam had came over to Midoriya's direction and started to babble about him but not one helped him up. He stood up on his two feet and looked around at the people staring.

Iida Tenya, the boy who had honestly criticised Midoriya had looked at the boy amazed, despite having a barely enough points to actually enter the school, he had jumped in to save the girl.

A lady came through with a walking stick shaped like a large injector handing out some Haribo sweets to the surrounding kids and came to Midoriya. She gave a smooch to his forehead and all minor injuries on his body began to heal. The people around were confused by the weird gesture until a student with the naval laser explained it.

"Is anyone else injured?" She had asked.

"My grades are." Whispered Midoriya with a frown.
