Bakugo's POV-

"ZAAAAAAAAAAAII!!"

I clench my fists in pure rage as Zai gets pulled into the black abyss and disappears completely. For the moment I take in my classmates reactions, even as my own blood boils.

Kirishima calling after her, shock and fear filling his eyes. Winchester's surprise at her actions, frozen in place even though he only just met her. Mina and Kaminari being held back by Sero, desperately trying to go after her.

"YOU BASTARD!!" Ama screams, Iida and Midoriya holding her back as tears are streaming down her face. "YOU BRING MY SISTER BACK, YOU WHORE!!!"

The man of black mist begins to laugh, a distorted, warbled sound. I feel as if my blood is steaming now, and I can't hold myself back any longer. I launch towards him along with Kirishima, sending a blast straight at his misty body.

I watch as he evades our attack, but I can see a small metallic piece covering what looks to be his neck. "That was close," he responds, making me smirk at his pathetic nature. "Yes.. students you may be, you are still the best of the best."

Of course we are, and I'm at the top, I think to myself. Zai's victory was just a fluke, because I didn't know how her quirk worked. Now I have perfect countermeasures for it.

"NO! Get back, both of you!" I hear Thirteen say behind us. We had jumped in front of the rest of the class in our assault, so we're the closest ones to the villain. The man of mist merely smiles before he speaks.

"Begone.."

"Writhe in torment.."

"Until you breathe your last.."

Ama's POV-

I scream as I'm thrown about in the mist that suddenly covered our classmates. This is it, I think to myself with trembling bones. This is where I die. At least I'll be with Zai..

My thoughts are cut off when the mist dissipates, revealing a large slope of dirt and earth. Wait a second, this looks like the landslide zone! I blink a couple times in confusion before the realization hits that I'm still falling.

Before I can do anything however, I feel a pair of arms wrap around my shoulders and my waist. "I've got you," a familiar monotonous voice says from behind me. 

Todoroki has a determined look on his face as we fall, tightening his grip until we touch down. He lands first, and lets go of me once my own feet hit the ground and I'm standing upright.

"I wouldn't let your guard down, kiddies!"

I nearly gasp in surprise at the giant group of villains around us, all with sinister grins on their faces. Why are there so many here? I think to myself as I scan each and every one of them I thought the majority was by Aizawa sensei... this is bad!

Todoroki places a hand on my shoulder with a bored expression now, shifting to stand in front of me. "Ama, I need you to float above the ground," he says monotonously as usual. It takes me a moment to understand what he says, before creating my signature hoverboard beneath my feet.

Once my feet have left the ground, the heterochromatic male slams his hand onto the ground. Ice springs forth from his fingertips, coating the ground and capturing all of the surrounding villains inside of it. The frost is like a freezing prison, leaving our enemies paralyzed from the cold.

Just like in our battle training, I think to myself with a smile. He's incredible!

"So your strategy was to divide and conquer, huh..?" Todoroki starts, letting out an icy breath. I can feel my own skin tingle from the cold, so I wrap my arms around myself to keep warm.

"Forgive me for saying, but it's hard to see you guys as any more than thugs with quirks they can't even handle." He then looks over at me, and his expression softens a bit. "Sorry, it must be really cold. I'm unbothered because I'm so used to it but.. we should hurry and leave to help the others."

"I can get us there in no time," I reply with a smile, though my voice is a bit shaky from the cold. Todoroki gives me a light smile before hardening his gaze and turning back to the villains. 

"At this rate your skin will rot away from frostbite. But I'm trying to become a hero, and heroes don't do such terrible things." The boy slowly makes his way over to one of the villains, narrowing his eyes at bit that sends shivers down my spine despite the cold.

It's so weird seeing Todoroki like this, I think to myself. Bakugo yeah, but him? It's kind of scary.

"What makes you think you can kill All Might? Tell me your plan," he continues, and I swear the villain looks like he's about to piss himself.

Actually, he probably already has.

Zai's POV-

Holy fuck I'm not dead?!

That was my only thought as I fought my way through the large group of villains surrounding me. I fell out of the sky and almost hit Aizawa on the way down, and boy was he just as surprised as I was.

"What the hell are you doing, Zai?!" Aizawa says with a low growl. "Get out of here with the rest of the class, you're not ready to fight villains yet! Fighting isn't your specialty, and you know it."

"Well, you see 'Aizawa sensei'," I reply with air quotes before kicking a villain in the junk. "Wasn't really my choice. That mist guy must have teleported me here when I jumped in front of his attack. Besides, at this point it's no longer rescue training. It's a rescue MISSION. Only now we have to save ourselves."

Aizawa jumps away from me as he grapples another villain with his capture weapon: a grey-ish scarf around his neck made of steel wire alloy and carbon nano fibers. It allows him to quickly bind his enemies and capture them before they have a chance to do much, if anything at all.

What..? I pay attention SOMETIMES, cut me some slack!

"..Alright," he finally says after a few moments. "Then I'm going to head after the leader. You'll be alright with these thugs?'

"Oh trust me, Aizawa," I reply with a giggle. "I've got this covered. Take these and make sure you put them on." I slip a couple of small speakers into his pocket as I do a cartwheel into another villain. My thighs wrap around his neck and I simply twist, using my leg strength to pull him to the ground.

Aizawa nods before leaping away, and I see him put one of the speakers around his ear as he goes. The device is kind of like an ear bud, but it can attach to any part of the body. 

"Alright boys, time to get serious," I say with a smirk on my face, and turn my quirk up to about ten percent volume. Loud enough that Aizawa can hear it, but anyone else would be none the wiser.

I can't help but laugh as I fight my way through, knocking down villain after villain with the surge of energy coursing through me. It may have been easier to give Aizawa the earplugs and do it just like I did back in battle training, I think to myself. But I swore I'd never do it again unless it was the only option.

They may be villains, but I can't bring myself to cause them such pain and misery. It hurts just remembering that I did it to my own classmates and nearly my sister. Plus, there's no guarantee that I was the only one to be teleported around here. I can't risk another classmate or Thirteen if he got warped hearing such music.

My heart pounds with adrenaline as I flip and cartwheel around the villains, none of them able to land even a scratch on me. "What is with this kid?!" One of them screams, right before I swing my heel and shoot a sleeping needle in their direction. The needle pierces the skin, and within moments the villain is knocked out cold.

Most of the group is knocked out by now, either from the sleeping needles or my barrage of attacks. Unlike my sister I don't have much power behind them, but I strike quickly and cause damage from my repeated blows. I rely on my agility and flexibility a lot more, which makes it much easier for me to dodge hits than my sister.

And just like that, it's over. I let out a breath as the adrenaline begins to fade away, feeling a bit of numbness in my legs. A side effect of my quirk if I use it too much, which is why I normally keep it on mute.

Thankfully it's nothing more than a tingling sensation dude to the low volume, and I can't help but smile as I turn towards where Aizawa is fighting. "Hah, I told you I'd-" My breath catches in my throat at the sight, causing my smile to fall and my heart to stop in my chest.

Muahahaha cliffhanger! This chapter actually turned out longer than the others, which makes me very happy. Over 2000 words, which was the normal length for the chapters in 'A Rose Between Thorns'. 

Space Hero Thirteen: Quirk: Black Hole. Thirteen's Quirk allows her to replicate a black hole suction effect from her fingertips. The suction is very powerful and not even light can escape it. Anything sucked into the black hole is disintegrated into dust.

In the anime and manga, it is first stated that Thirteen is a male by Midoriya by using the concept "gentleman hero". Later on it was stated by Morgan Berry, Thirteen's voice actor in the English dub, that Thirteen is androgynous, meaning she uses 'they/them' pronouns.

However, in the Ultra Archive, Thirteen is instead confirmed to be female when 'she/her' pronouns are instead used to address her.

Considering we are following the manga, I'm using the dialogue that's been given for maximum accuracy. I hope this information clarifies any confusion for those who have read the manga to that point.
