Chapter Thirteen: Can I Touch It?

Zai's POV-

"Did I say something wrong?" Tokoyami asks as my group walks over to them. The poor boy looks so confused, eyes locked on my sister as she storms out of the building.

"I think she's just upset at her loss," I reply with a sad smile. "We spar a lot, yeah, but normally it's without using quirks. She's used to winning against me, so this is an unwelcome change for her."

"Zai, you didn't tell us your quirk was so powerful," Tsuyu says as we trail after my sister. "It was like a wave of depression just washed over me, I felt so numb and I truly believed that we had no hope of winning."

I look over at Kirishima, who still looks pretty dumbfounded from the match. "Hey Kiri, you doing okay?" I ask, raising a brow.

The boy jumps as if startled, and his face turns a bright red as he gives me a sheepish smile in return. "Oh, yeah I'm fine. I just realized I recognized your sister's special move back there. She's a famous soccer player isn't she?"

"Oh yeah, her patented Rolling Thunder technique. She worked really hard to perfect that, she's broken a few soccer balls that way too," I respond with a grin.

Kirishima's eyes widened in surprise before clapping his hands excitedly. "Man, so both of you are famous! That's so cool!"

Sero rolls his eyes at the redhead before turning to me. "Anyways, I have a question in regards to what Tsuyu said. You didn't really flaunt your quirk at all, and even avoided questions about it when we asked. Is there a reason for it..?"

I merely shrug as we head back towards the rest of the class. "I just didn't think it was super important. I'd rather people experience it through my concerts instead of me just straight up telling them. Plus, let's just say I didn't get the nicest comments when people found out what I could do."

We made it back before Sero or the others could pry any more, my sister already there staring blankly at our teacher. "Well done, all of you! No serious injuries apart from Midoriya, but you all did splendidly! Considering this was your first training exercise, of course."

"Now, I'm going to give Midoriya his evaluation! Change out of your costumes and head back to the classroom." And with those final words, All Might leaves as fast as he had appeared earlier today. I smile a little as Mina and Jiro run up to our group with excited expressions.

"Woah, your fight was so awesome Zai!" Mina says, pumping a fist into the air. "We couldn't hear anything but it looked like it was going to be a tough match in the beginning. Then suddenly the hero team went limp and just stopped fighting! All except your sister of course."

"It was as if they had lost their will to live," Jiro adds, an awestruck expression on her face. "Was that you?"

I wince a little bit at the comment, rubbing the back of my neck. "We should probably get back to the locker rooms, I'll see you guys later." With a bright smile I hurriedly rushed off, leaving them in the dust.

Maybe I shouldn't have used my quirk after all, I think to myself, having arrived before everyone else I take the opportunity to change rather quickly.

Throughout elementary and middle school, I was always considered what one would call a 'bad apple'. I was the rebel in school and typically led any others who wanted to pursue mischief. However, I was also bullied a lot due to my quirk.

A villain's quirk, they called it. While it could inspire hope in others, it could also do the opposite. At some point I just stopped caring about others' opinions of me, but that didn't help much when it came to my rebelliousness. Others would blame me for their wrongdoings, saying I forced them to rebel which is also something I could probably do.

Hell if I know, I never tried. I didn't want to try, which is why I do my best not to use my ability to hinder other people. However in this situation it was the only viable option, and here's why.

I thought about boosting my friends which would in turn boost our opponents. The goal was to boost Sero as much as possible, he was our ace for this match, and boosting Kirishima only meant better protection for me.

But then there was the issue of Dark Shadow. I can normally read people's quirks and their limits pretty well, and Dark Shadow was an entirely different being instead of just an extension of Tokoyami. It was a beast, and if I had boosted that quirk of his then he could lose control of Dark Shadow.

All five of us would be caught in the crossfire, and I didn't want to risk my sister or anyone else getting hurt. So we went with plan B, which didn't involve any injuries on either side nor much of a fight.

I let out a small sigh as I finished changing, heading out of the locker room and towards the classroom. No one came in while I was in there, so I assume they are still making their way back to change.

"Um.. excuse me?"

I blink a couple times in surprise, looking over at Ojiro who is already in his school uniform. "Mind if I walk with you? Hagakure said she was going to talk to Tsuyu about something, otherwise we'd go together."

"Oh of course, I don't mind," I reply with a bright smile, putting away the memories I had momentarily pulled forward in my head. The tailed boy gives me a soft smile before taking his spot beside me, both of us making our way to the classroom.

"I uh.. I'm sorry I never got to properly introduce myself," Ojiro says with a slight hint of pink on his face. "My name is Mashirao Ojiro, and I don't think I need to introduce my quirk..-"

I won't remind the boy that he actually did introduce himself to me earlier, he must have just forgotten. "Can I touch it?"

"I- excuse me?" He asks, his eyes widening in surprise at my question.

"Can I touch it?" I repeat with a deadpan expression, my gaze locked on his fluffy tail.

"I- sure? I guess.." I squeal happily before taking his tail in my hands, causing the poor boy to jump. His tail is the same as a lion's, only really thick and soft. I can't help but marvel at how smooth the fur feels while Ojiro has the biggest blush on his face.

"Holy shit, do you use special shampoo for this thing or what?" I ask, and Ojiro shakes his head as he snaps out of his momentary daze.

"I just use my normal stuff.. Hagakure always talked about how soft it was but I guess I'm so used to it by now."

"Man, I'm jealous," I reply, letting go of his tail with a slight sigh. Ojiro gave me a confused look, but we reached the classroom before he could ask anything else.

Surprisingly enough, we weren't the first ones here. Most of the boys are in their seats, with the exception of Midoriya of course. "Hey yo, Zai!" Kaminari calls with a grin on his face. "What did you do to Tokoyami and Tsu? These buzzkills won't tell us, and we couldn't hear anything through the screens."

Kirishima, Sero and Tokoyami all paled a little bit, averting their gaze from me as I leaned back against the desk. "Like I said, you'll find out if ya come to my concert." I reply, running a hand through my hair.

"Your secrets are seriously starting to piss me off," Bakugo says, implying he had been listening to our conversation. I say that because he just straight up looked disinterested, then again when doesn't he? "What's the point of hiding it if we're just going to find out anyways?"

"I have my own reasons, boom boom boy," I say with a snicker, sticking my tongue out at him. "Oh, and would you look at that? We managed to win our match as villains, unlike a certain blonde."

"WHAT THE HELL DID YOU SAY TO ME?"

"YOU HEARD ME, ANGRY HEDGEHOG LOOKING ASS!"

Bakugo marches right on up to me and takes my shirt collar in his hand, just like he did earlier. However our earlier encounter must have clicked in his brain, because he didn't lift me up from the ground and his grip was significantly more loose.

Our classmates watch in awe as more students begin to filter in. "You REALLY want to die, don't you?" he asks, tilting his head with a scowl on his face.

I merely give him a sweet sugary smile in return. "You don't have the balls to kill me. Actually, you probably don't have any balls at all, since you're mostly just talk."

A rumble echoes from his throat as Bakugo growls at me, letting go of my shirt with a huff. "You're going to regret that, you fucking peacock."

"We'll see about that, princess," I reply, seeing his hands clenched into fists. He doesn't say another word as he takes his seat again, and by now everyone else had arrived. I head back to my own seat as a certain green haired boy enters the classroom, arm wrapped up in a cast.

"Hey, Midoriya!" I call, waving over to the boy. He blinks a couple times before giving me a bright smile, making his way to me.

"H-hi, Benzaiten right?" he replies, stopping to stand beside my desk. "Sorry for not introducing myself before, how did your fight go?"

I explain what went down in elaborate detail, and the poor boy pales the longer the story goes on. Of course, without explaining my quirk. "Woah, you guys made a great team!" He says, rubbing the back of his neck with his free arm. "Even if time wasn't a factor, there is no way the hero team would have won with that strategy in place."

I look over to find my sister already in her seat, her head resting on her arms. "Yeah, though it would have gone down faster if we weren't going against my sister. She did her best but time just wasn't on their side. If it weren't for Sero though, we wouldn't have stood much of a chance."

I flick my hair over my shoulder with a grin on my face. "Though of course I'm fabulous even in loss, I mean look at me! I'll kick anyone's ass, ain't nobody holds a candle to me!"

I see my sister roll her eyes, but a small smile tugs at the corner of her lips. Midoriya turns slightly red in the face before nodding in agreement. "R-right, I don't doubt that you're strong, Zai! You got in on recommendations after all.."

I lean my chin against my hand as Kirishima and a few others walk up to Deku to talk to him, and I catch my sister stealing glances over at me every so often as they converse. Don't worry, sister, I think to myself.

I'm sure you'll make a fine hero someday, so don't let this loss get to you.

There are so many minor ships in this story, and I'm having way too much fun writing interactions with Bakugo and Zai xD

Hanta Sero- Quirk: Tape. He can shoot tape from his elbows! He's basically Spiderman but like, tape.
