Chapter Six: High-Heeled Threats
Zai's POV-
It took another couple minutes to convince my sister to talk to Momo, but once she headed over there I decided to go ahead and make my way to the classroom.
I was honestly hoping to do a little better than I did, I think to myself as I walk back towards the locker rooms to change back. My feet have started to ache a little from the physical activity in these stilettos, so I should probably give them a rest before heading to the classroom.
Surprisingly enough, I'm the first one here. The rest of the girls must be still chatting with the others. I let out a small sigh before checking the time. It's still pretty early in the afternoon, and we just have one more class for the day so I'll have a lot of free time after lunch.
I'm just barely tying the tie of my uniform after giving my feet a rest when I feel a pair of hands on my shoulder. "GIRRRRRRRRRL LOOK AT YOU, getting the boys fawning over you already!" Mina cries from behind me, the rest of the girls trickling in.
Uh, what?
"Mina, what are you talking about?" I ask, raising a brow as I flick my hair over my shoulder.
"Uh, Bakugo was apparently looking for you earlier. He only looked SLIGHTLY pissed, and now he's waiting outside the locker room for you," the pink girl says, taking a seat beside me. "Plus, did you see how Ojiro was acting around you?"
"Uh, please enlighten me on who Ojiro is?" I respond as Hagakure makes her way over to us, slipping my heels back on.
"Ojiro is like, my best friend!" She says with a small laugh. "You know, the guy with the tail!"
Oh yeah, now I remember. The cute blonde boy that was staring at me before. "I mean, I only saw him for a few minutes to be honest," I reply with a shrug. "As soon as I looked at him he turned away, so maybe he's just shy."
"I don't know girl, but do you want to join us for lunch?" Mina asks with a bright smile. "There's a couple other people that I want to introduce you too."
"Sure, I'd love to!" I close my locker as the girl squeals happily, hurrying to her own locker. "Anyways, you said Bakugo was waiting outside for me?"
Hagakure nods, or at least I think she nods? You know, because she's invisible and all. "Well then, wish me luck with the angry hedgehog, ladies," I say as I sling my messenger bag over my shoulder. A couple of them burst into laughter at my comment while I stride out of the locker room, black heels clicking against the floor as I walk.
Sure enough, the blonde bundle of pure dynamite was waiting just outside of the locker room, leaning back against the wall. His attention was on his phone, but I'm sure the click of my heels alerted him to my presence. He puts his phone away and stuffs his hands in his pockets as I walk up to him.
"You called, my liege?" I tease, earning a glare from the blonde boy.
"Oh shut your damn face, extra. Who the hell do you think you are anyways?" Bakugo says, scoffing while tilting his chin up at me.
I merely grin at the hedgehog, resting a hand on my hip. "Benzaiten Nobuyuki, though I can't say it's a pleasure to make your acquaintance." I reply, and he blinks a couple times in surprise.
"You got in on recommendations, but if I recall your score earlier was barely above last place," he says with a smirk on his face. "I wouldn't be so cocky if you're scraping by at the bottom of the ladder."
"And I wouldn't be so hot headed if you truly wish to be a hero," I say, rolling my shoulders back a little. "Die? Really? You sound like a damn villain, ain't nobody going to look up to a hero like that."
This comment got on his nerves, as he grabs me by the collar of my shirt. "You take that back, princess, I- what the fuck?"
As he was about to go on his spiel, I had oh so gracefully lifted one of my heels to press dangerously close to his man junk. I don't usually give in to insults, I think to myself as I revel in his shocked expression. But maybe I'll make an exception this once.
"Now, we don't want this to get ugly, do we?" I respond with a grin, causing his eyes to widen as I press further.
"You wouldn't dare," Bakugo says with a low growl.
"Oh try me, PRINCESS," I reply while leaving my other leg down in case he lets me go. "There's a reason my sister and I are in the same year, and it's NOT because she skipped ahead."
After a few moments, the blonde scoffs and lets go of my shirt. I not-so-gracefully land on my heel, tightening the strap of my bag. "Thank you. Now, why did you want to see me? Because if this is all, then I'd rather head back to class and get my shit."
Bakugo scowls again, averting his gaze from me. "Come with me to lunch." he says, or more like demands as he rubs the back of his neck.
My eyes widen in surprise, and I tilt my head a little in confusion. "Are you... inviting me to eat with you?" I ask, and he narrows his eyes at me in response. "Really? After what you just pulled?"
"You were ready to stab me with that heel of yours, so I wouldn't talk," Bakugo says, pushing off of the wall. "I'll be waiting outside of class, don't be late."
The blonde hedgehog is gone before I can respond, leaving me stuttering in the hallway. How dare he?! I huff as I collect myself and strut towards the classroom. Acting as if he's the boss of me, telling me what to do. I mean, it's ME we are talking about? How dare he act like he is so far above me!
I keep my eyes straight ahead as I enter the room, heading right towards my desk. He can't be doing it out of pity or something either, he's got his head so far up his ass he doesn't even notice the shit coming out of his mouth.
"Fucking boom boom boy, angry hedgehog looking headass.." I mutter under my breath, collecting the materials that were laid out for me.
"What vulgar language!"
I don't even jump as I turn around to find Iida staring at me with a shocked expression. "I honestly thought you'd be more ladylike.."
I lean back against my desk with a slight grin on my face. "Oh really? So does my choice in language make me less of a lady? Does it make me a man because I use curse words?"
Iida is taken aback by my statement, before shifting his glasses up the bridge of his nose a little. "My apologies, I didn't mean to offend you. I was merely startled is all. You're Benzaiten, right? I thought I felt your eyes on me during the fifty meter dash earlier."
"Please, call me Zai. And yeah I was watching you, but to be fair I wasn't expecting you to have a quirk like that," I reply, crossing my arms. "You just look like the kind of guy to have an intelligence quirk of some kind."
Iida chokes on air in surprise, though I can see a small smile tug at the corner of his lips. "You're the first person to say that to me, but my intelligence and dedication is merely the result of hard work and frivolous studying."
I visibly cringe at the word studying, shifting to sit on the desk. "I'm not really good in that department, I'd rather be out training or making some new music," I reply, and Iida narrows his eyes at my seat choice before sitting down in the chair in front of me.
"So what Mina said about you being a celebrity is true?" Iida asks, and I nod with a proud smile.
"Abso-fucking-lutely!" I cross my legs, flicking my hair over my shoulder. "I used to do concerts in Hosu before I moved here, so logically my work is coming with me."
"Wait, so you're going to do concerts AND hero work?" Iida says with an intrigued expression. "Wouldn't that interfere with school?"
I grimace a little, since I've never been one to really care about school stuff. "Not really, I'm pretty good at managing my time. Ama is just as famous as me though, she has a lot of practices she has to attend so out of the two of us she definitely puts in more work."
"You speak so highly of your sister, she must be lucky to have you to look after her," Iida says in a soft tone, looking at his watch. "We should probably be heading to lunch soon. Would you like to join me? Perhaps we could discuss more over some food?"
I notice that a lot more students had entered the room while we were conversing, though a few are still missing. I open my mouth to respond, but a certain someone beats me to it.
"She's eating with me today." I scowl as Bakugo stands beside us, hands still in his pockets. "I don't want to be late, so hurry up extra."
"You're an asshole, you know that? I didn't even agree to going to lunch with you, I already told Mina I would join her today," I reply, sticking my tongue out at the blonde.
He snarls a bit and grabs onto my bag, pulling me away as the rest of the students in the room watch in confusion. "Oh shut up and let's go."
"I'm sorry!" I call after Iida as Bakugo practically drags me out of the room.
"Don't worry about it!" He calls after me with a piteous smile on his face. "Another time, perhaps!"
I give him a thumbs up while my heels scrape across the floor, and as soon as we turn the corner towards the cafeteria Bakugo promptly releases me. I hit the ground with a thud, frowning as I stand up and dust myself off.
"Wow, and just when I didn't think you could get any more rude," I say in frustration, the blonde turning back to look at me.
"Wow, just when I didn't think you could get any more annoying," he replies, tilting his chin up as he walks towards the cafeteria. "Now hurry your ass up, or I'll kill you, ya damn extra!"
Such a fucking asshole, I think to myself, adjusting my tie a bit before reluctantly following the blonde. I just hope Ama is doing alright without me.
I'm trying to keep Bakugo true to his character, so don't think for a second that he's gonna be all head over heels for Zai xD I love her so much though, she's just a walking middle finger.
Mashirao Ojiro- Quirk: Tail. It's quite obvious about what his ability is, which is why it's amazing that he was able to make it into the hero course. He worked through the exams on martial arts training alone, making him a fierce fighter and a terrifying opponent.
Though by his face, you wouldn't expect that would you?
