Chapter Fifteen: A Bright Morning

"Benzaiten, if you do not get up right now I will eat all of your ice cream in the freezer."

I squeal as I bolt upwards from my bed, narrowing my eyes at my younger sister. "You wouldn't dare."

"I would, and you know it," she says with a smirk, already dressed in her school uniform. "Might want to get up before we're late."

It's been a couple days since I went over to Iida's place. His brother Tensei was acting like a total fanboy when he woke up and realized he wasn't dreaming. I couldn't hide the smile on my face the whole time he was ranting, he wouldn't stop talking about how much he loved my music.

"Every time you were performing I would try to get assigned for patrols in Hosu," Tensei explained with vigorous hand movements, though not quite like his younger brother. "I was even able to nab a security gig one time. I don't know if you remember, but I was the guy in the armor during your summer solstice concert!"

"That was you?" I asked in surprise, recalling those memories fondly in my head. "Of course I remember, we don't hire heroes too often for security. We were severely understaffed since a bunch of the crew got terribly ill."

"Could I get your autograph?" He said, eyes pleading as he clasped his hands together. "If it isn't too much trouble that is!"

"Tensei!" His mother scolded, giving me a piteous smile in the process. "She's probably sick and tired from signing so many autographs at work."

"Oh, I don't mind at all!" I replied, shaking my hands in front of me. "Do you have something I can sign and a pen?"

After giving Tensei my autograph we sat around and chatted for a while until I had to go. Tensei offered to carry me on his back, to show off his quirk and just how fast he could be there if I needed him. 'In case I'm attacked by a villain', according to him. I didn't see the harm at all, but I passed out as soon as I got to my room.

I shoo my little sister out of the room so I can change, a giddy feeling settling in my stomach. I have my fight with Bakugo later today, and I intend to wipe the floor with him.

As soon as I'm done getting changed, I hear my phone go off on my nightstand. Some hip-hop music blasts from my speakers, so I quickly rush over to answer it so as not to give Aizawa a reason to get upset with me.

"Hello?" I answer, sitting down on my bed to put on my shoes.

"Hey Zai, it's Kirishima!" I can't help but smile as his cheerful voice rings through my phone. "Mina gave me your number, I was wondering if you wanted to walk to school today? I spoke with Ama before and she gave me your address."

"Oh really? Yeah sure, I'd love to walk with you. Just give me one second," I reply as I stand up, heading towards my door.

"AAAAMAAAA!!!" I holler after stepping out of my room, figuring Aizawa's wrath wouldn't be too bad. "DID YOU ACTUALLY TALK WITH SOMEONE OF THE MALE SPECIES FOR ONCE??? AND NOT TELL ME??!!"

"I ONLY DID IT TO KEEP YOU OCCUPIED!" I hear her yell back from her room. "PLUS, I TALKED WITH TOKOYAMI AND AIZAWA, SO THAT'S TWO MALES!"

"TOKOYAMI IS A FUCKING BIRD, HE DOESN'T COUNT. AND AIZAWA IS OUR TEACHER!!"

"OH SHUT THE FUCK UP AND GET READY ALREADY! I'M LEAVING WHETHER YOU LIKE IT OR NOT!"

"Is everything okay?" Kirishima asks as I shut my door.

"Oh yeah, my sister is just extra salty today," I reply with a small smile on my face, not that he could see it of course.

"Oh, okay then! I'm bringing Kaminari along with, I offered to bring Bakugo but he refused."

"Eh that's fine, he just doesn't want to face me before tonight." I slip on my shoes and grab my hair brush from on top of my vanity. "I'll see you in a bit?"

"Yeah, I'll be by your place in about ten minutes. See you then!"

Click. I plug my phone in as he hung up, unable to hide my grin. It's nice to have friends that actually want to hang around me, and not just because I'm famous or whatever. Not that I haven't had any before, but I eventually just lost contact with them after middle school.

Especially after I got expelled.

I ended up finishing the rest of middle school online at the time, Mom was so furious with me that she almost started cursing. And Mom NEVER curses. Ironically enough, since Ama and I both swear like a couple of sailors, but we get that from Dad's side of the family.

Dad.. I feel my heart sink in my chest, the once fond memories now laced with sadness. There's so much I never got to say to you.

Before the incident, Dad always woke me up in the mornings for school. He'd come in with his speakers blasting some foreign song, doing some patented 'Dad' dances until I was fed up enough to give him his morning tackle-hug.

Yes, I mean tackle-hug. I remember Ama would have arm wrestling contests with Dad, she worked so hard to get stronger but Dad always won. So my morning tackle hugs would barely make him stumble even if I threw all my body weight into it.

Mom would have breakfast ready for us when we got downstairs, but we weren't allowed to be in our pajamas. We had to be dressed with our hair done before coming down, Ama and I always fought each other to get down faster since the first one down often got more seconds.

While Dad was giving me vocal lessons, taking me rock climbing or other crazy shit, Ama was learning how to cook with Mom. My little sister was always closer to Mom than I was, which resulted in me taking after my Dad's ability to burn anything he sets on the stove.

After I burned Mom's favorite frying pan, I was officially banned from cooking unless the meal didn't require any form of heat.

"ZAI!"

Ama's voice rings through the house, so I hurriedly grab my bag and rush out of my room. "WHAT DO YOU WANT?!" I yell back, seeing my little sister already one foot out the door.

"There wasn't enough food to make two lunches, so you snooze you lose," She says, sticking her tongue out at me before shutting the door behind her. I blink a couple times in shock, running to the kitchen to see if it was true.

Sure enough, there's barely anything in the pantry or fridge left even for dinner tonight. "You little shit.." I mutter before hearing a knock on the door. That must be Kirishima, I think to myself while slinging my bag over my shoulder.

"Hey girl!" Kaminari says as I open the door, a giant grin on the blonde's face upon seeing me. Kirishima stands right behind him, eyes trained on my sister's retreating form.

"Hey, Pikachu!" I reply, locking the front door behind me. "And hello? Earth to Kirishima? You better not be checking out my sister over there."

The redhead jumps before turning his head in my direction, shaking his head furiously. "No, it's not like that! It's just, we offered for her to walk with us.. she had such a terrifying look in her eyes, I thought we were going to die right then and there."

"Ah yeah, Ama has that effect on people. She had a hard time making friends before, her social skills aren't the best."

"I'm surprised she's already friends with the richest person in class," Kaminari says with a slight pout. "Yaoyorozu seems like the stuck up type, not going to lie. Then again, I haven't gotten to really talk to her much."

"Are you going to wear heels every day?" Kirishima asks as we head off towards the train station. "I mean, doesn't that hurt your feet?"

"Eventually yeah," I respond with a shrug. "But the longer I go the more practice I get. I've got pretty good balance so unless some asshole runs into me I have no fear of tripping or falling."

"Well the train station isn't exactly close," he continues with a slight frown. "If you'd like I could carry you there, and Denki could take your bag?"

"What, why me?!" the blonde protests in confusion.

"It's fine, I don't mind walking," I start to reply, but Kirishima is already shaking his head.

He reaches over and takes my bag, tossing it over to Kaminari. "I'm not taking 'no' for an answer, Zai!" Kirishima says with a shark-like grin, before hoisting me up into the air with one fell swoop. I squeak in surprise as he lifts me onto his shoulder, his arm wrapped around my thighs to keep me in place.

"You little shit," I mutter, resting my hand in his spiky hair. Contrary to how it looks, it's actually soft as hell. I can hear Kaminari burst into laughter as I run my fingers through it, Kirishima's face turning a bright shade of red.

"Damn Kiri, what conditioner do you use?" I ask, raising a brow at the redhead. "Maybe Bakugo should take some pointers here, his hair looks like it's never even been touched by water. Wait, would his hair just flatten if that happened?"

"Actually, Bakugo is the one who recommended it to me," He answers after a few moments. "I don't know what is up with his hair though, but I guess it represents his quirk well."

We continue to make idle chatter on our way to the station, the early morning passing by faster with each excited conversation.

Denki Kaminari - Quirk: Electrification. He can discharge electricity from his body just like a certain yellow mouse! However, using too much of his power makes his brain short circuit, and he becomes dummified for a while!
