Old Friends

"So, tell me Rey, how long have you been fixing things?" Anakin asked working on an old beat up truck. "You're pretty good at what you do."

"Uh, forever, I guess," Rey responded working on the same truck. She began to fidget with an equally old wrench. "Can I ask you a question?"

"Sure!"

"I saw you with that old man earlier. I live at the house he visited. I'm pretty sure he gave Miss Syndulla a faulty check, and what I mean to say, how can I trust you?"

Anakin frowned and put down his own tool. "Look, I didn't agree with what he was doing, so I left, well, more like he kicked me out. I'm sorry he did ya wrong."

Rey frowned as well and looked down. She had more trust in Anakin now, but was still worried about things back home. She didn't even tell anyone that she was going to get a job.

"How about we go out for lunch? My treat," Anakin suggested putting down a tool. He folded his arms waiting for a response.

"Really?! Sure!" she eagerly replied. She put the tools back in their bag and walked with Anakin to a nearby patio café.

Rey opened the door revealing a quaint shop filled with pastries, sandwiches, coffee and cupcakes. Vintage music played throughout the whole place.

"I'll be right there in a minute," a man with a heavy accent called out. While they waited, both Anakin and Rey looked over the delicious delicacies. The man came out wiping his hands on his apron. "What can I get for you?"

Anakin began to ramble off his list of what he and Rey wanted.

The man nodded listening. "By the way, the chocolate cupcakes are almost done. Do you mind waiting a moment for those?"

"Not at all," Anakin responded taking his warm latte and handed Rey her iced latte. They headed outside and waited for their food.

"Hey, Ahsoka!" the man called out, "Hurry up with those cupcakes!"

"Do you want perfection or no? I'm doing it the way I want to, Lux."

"Alright, alright! No use in fighting with you, Ahsoka," Lux chuckled. He put Anakin and Rey's order on a tray and went out to the patio. "Here you go! Those cupcakes will be out in a minute!" Lux smiled and went back inside.

"Thank you again for doing this," Rey said and then took a bite of her sandwich.

"Eh, it's no problem. Besides, it's the least I can do after that old creep messed things up for you," Anakin said.

Ahsoka finished up the last cupcake and put two on a tray heading for the patio. When she saw the guests the cupcakes fell to the ground. "Anakin?!"

"Ahsoka?!"

Rey looked down at the smashed cupcake. "My cupcake. . ."

"Y-you remember?" Ahsoka nearly shouted.

"I could say the same," Anakin stood up. "I thought maybe I was just going crazy but-"

"I . . .what is going on?! If you and I remember, and no one else does?"

"I'm not sure, but I do know it involves Palpatine. He's done something totally crazy and now we're all in this weird place! And it's not just that, I think people from different times are here too."

"This is certainly odd. Well, more than odd. . ."

Rey looked up from her smashed cupcake. "Am I missing something?"

Anakin and Ahsoka looked over at Rey awkwardly. They probably scared the young girl.

Ahsoka looked back at Anakin, "Perhaps we talk about this some other time."

"Agreed. How about-"

"Here, tomorrow, 5 o'clock?"

Anakin nodded and watched Ahsoka walk back inside. He ran his fingers through his hair deep in thought. He thought things were weird, but did things just get weirder? Now there were others who remembered too?
