A Plan and Getting Together

"Thanks for working today, Rey. You've done an excellent job and I'm glad you're here," Anakin said with a smile. "I'm gonna let you go home early."

Rey tilted her head and glanced at the clock. "It's only four twenty-seven, are you sure?"

"Yeah. I need to meet up with someone, plus I don't want the people back at your home worried. Is it an orphanage?"

"Eh, yes and no. Runaways also go there," Rey answered shrugging.

Anakin nodded and placed down his tools. He went to the back room and picked up an envelope. He then went back to the main shop and walked up to Rey. "Here's your first pay. Thanks for your hard work today."

Rey smiled and thanked him generously. With that she picked her bag up and left the repair shop. Anakin picked up a few of his own things and left as well.

He had so much to talk about with Ahsoka. Besides Palpatine, Ahsoka was the only one he knew that remembered.

Anakin strolled up to the cafe and walked in. He looked around at the empty room. No Ahsoka.

Lux emerged from the back holding a hoodie and some keys. "Oh, I'm sorry! We're closing right now, but I can fetch whatever you'd like real quick."

Anakin frowned. "Uh, no. That's okay, I'll go."

Lux put on his navy blue hoodie and led Anakin outside. He didn't lock up the shop, but stood waiting with his arms folded. He looked up as Ahsoka walked out of the shop. He smiled at her and locked up the cafe.

"You ready to go, Ahsoka?" Lux asked smiling.

Ahsoka was about to speak to Anakin, but was interrupted. "Ready to go to what exactly?"

Lux sighed and frowned. "Our date. Remember? You promised me you'd go on a date with me to Disneyland!" He looked down at his watch. "And if we don't hurry up we'll run into good ol' Southern California traffic."

Ahsoka rolled her eyes and screamed internally. She didn't remember promising Lux that. Must've just said yes to anything he said. "Ya know, Lux, I'm not sure I can make it. Maybe some other time?"

Lux frowned and held back a tear. "That's okay. I understand. Maybe someone else can come with me. I'll try Steela." Lux sadly walked away and got into his car and then drove away.

Ahsoka turned to Anakin. "Okay, he's gone. Now we can finally talk. We need to figure out what in the world is going on and how to turn things back to normal."

"All I know is Palpatine found some ancient Sith artifact and it didn't exactly work the way he wanted it to."

"Perhaps this artifact is here as well. Maybe by finding it, we could find a way to reverse this," Ahsoka suggested.

"That's not a bad idea. It also wouldn't hurt to find others who remember too."

"Yes. . .have you seen Obi-Wan yet?"

Anakin looked down. "No. But I have seen Padmé, and that didn't go so well."

Ahsoka frowned. "I'm sorry, Anakin."

Anakin shook his head breaking out of his short trance. "Well, that's a good place to start. We'll look for the artifact."

Ezra sat in the corner on the couch frowning. It wasn't a sad frown. More of a bored out of his mind frown. They didn't have a tv. Well, a working tv that was. But they did have plenty of VHS's. Ezra sighed and glanced out the window. He wasn't sure why his mother let him go into the city with Caleb yesterday, or why Caleb agreed to it. But something about spending time with him felt familiar? As weird as that sounded. And then they went to that random house. He had no idea why Caleb brought them there, but there was something familiar about the older woman next to Sabine. It was obvious Caleb knew that woman. The way he looked at her. But at least he knew where Sabine lived know, even though he barely knew her.

"Hey Mom!" Ezra called out from the couch. "Can I invite someone over for dinner?"

Mira's face lit up. "Like who?"

"Um, someone I met. She's in a rough situation right now. She has no home, and I thought it be nice if we invited her over for dinner."

Mira smiled warmly. "That would be wonderful. You know what, Ezra?"

"What?"

"I have the best son in the world," she said smiling. She went up to her son and hugged him tightly.

"And I have the best mom in world," Ezra replied. When his Mom let go he ran to the home phone and looked through the phone book for the home they went to. Which proved to be more of a challenge than he thought.

He sighed and went over to Caleb's house knocking on the door. The door opened revealing a very tried looking man.

"Oh, hello Ezra. Can I help you?" Caleb said itching his head curious as to why the young boy was here.

"Yeah, you actually can. You know that place we went to yesterday?"

"Starbucks?"

"No, that foster home or whatever it was."

Caleb went frozen. "What about it?"

"There was this girl there. I've seen her here actually, and I wanted to invite her over to my house for dinner, but I don't have the number to the place."

"And what what make you think I have the number?" Caleb asked folding his arms.

Ezra tilted his head. "Well, you did look at that lady pretty dream-like. I kind of assumed she was your girlfriend, or that you at least knew her."

Caleb shook his head and laughed ever so quietly. If only Ezra remembered too. He would know that he very much knew Hera, but here, he had to pretend he didn't know a thing about her. "Sorry, kid, but I don't, but you're more than welcome to use my computer to look it up."

Ezra smiled and followed Caleb inside the house. It was kept very tidy and very simple. He sat at the computer and began to look up the name he read on the house. He didn't have a computer at home, but he used them at school, so he was somewhat familiar with how it worked.

He found the number with ease and wrote it down on a piece of paper. "Thanks, Caleb. You're more than welcome to come for dinner if you'd like. Who knows, maybe Sabine will invite that girl you like over too."

Caleb smiled. "Very funny."

"So that's a yes?"

"That's a maybe."

Ezra laughed and walked out the door.

It took a few hours, but Rey finally made it home. She walked up the steps of the house and headed inside. The first thing she saw was an extremely worried Hera Syndulla. Rey would have some explaining to do.

"Rey! Where we're you?! Gone yesterday, and now today!" Hera said folding her arms.

"I'm sorry. I'll explain," Rey said sighing. "I got a job to help with the bills. This place can't get shut down." She pulled out her envelope filled with a small amount of money.

"Rey, that is not your job to worry about bills!" Hera said sadly.

Rey put the envelope in Hera's hands. "I can handle myself, Hera, and I want to help, so please, please let me help."

Hera sighed and took the envelope hesitantly. Rey smiled and walked away to her room. Before there was even a moment of silence, someone dashed down the stairs and stopped next to Hera.

"Hey, Hera," Sabine started. "Can I ask you a favor?"

Hera raised an eyebrow. "Like what?"

"I got invited for dinner and I need you to drop me off and pick me up."

"How well do you know this person?"

"We met once," Sabine answered.

Hera sighed. "Sabine, you don't just go to dinner with a stranger!"

"I came here and trusted you, a total stranger," Sabine said folding her arms.

Hera rolled her eyes. "Fine! I'll take you, but I stay the whole time to make sure you're safe."

"Thanks, Hera."

Hera smiled and grabbed her car keys leading Sabine to the car. Yes, she had bills and bills to worry about, and on top of that, the threat of being closed down next week, but maybe all she needed was a break from thinking about all of that.
