Chapter-12 :

Harsha Kumar :

Two days flew away with being busy in the office, working on a new project, Udai and I worked hard to complete that emergency work, and the happy part was our senior manager Mr. Iyer was impressed with our teamwork. So finally Sunday is here and it's time to meet my girl.

I woke up to the noise of the alarm, switched it off, strode into the hall to have my bed coffee, and was astonished at my sight.

"What are you guys doing?" I asked shocked.

"Oh, Harsha! You were still in bed till now! How can you forget that today, we have an outing plan, visiting our past neighbors?" Mom said narrowing her eyebrows, being annoyed.

"Yeah, right, I do remember, but that doesn't mean leaving bed early Come on, guys, It's a holiday but how can you be already ready?" I lazily slumped down onto the sofa.

"Oh, Harshu, such an indolent person you are! We are damn excited to meet them, so got ready quickly and are preparing to have breakfast to leave immediately and here is you, came for a bed coffee, how goosy you are!" My sister chastised.

"And yeah. I am giving you only fifteen minutes to freshen up, so do it quicker and come, we will wait for you. Don't dare to get late, because we are not going to wait for you too long, do you get it? Now hurry.!" Urmi shrieked and pushed me into my room, shutting the door with a thud.

My poor family! They were never aware of my excitement for today and how I was badly waiting for this day. I just want to maintain that it doesn't matter to me to meet them, but who will know my inner soul leaping with euphoria and thrill?

I took the quickest shower, put on my usual striped shirt, and applied some hair gel to look stylish. I am coming to Meera, be ready to get magnetized.

we had our breakfast and started to leave but suddenly, my phone rang making everyone sigh in disappointment. I answered the call and it was Udai on the other side.

"Mail me yesterday's project details. It's urgent!" He told me and cut the call.

"Sorry, guys. I  have to send an urgent mail so you carry on. I'll meet you all directly at their home. Bye!" I said for which they looked worried and wanted to wait for me, but I opposed and managed them to leave.

After twenty minutes, I completed sending the mail and walked outside to find out that they had gone in the car, so I started to walk.

When I was halfway through the distance, the best moment of my life happened, I saw her, I saw my girl after four long years. I got an impulse to run towards her and hug her tight, but no, I realized that it takes time. My happiness is like I won a lottery of crores and I couldn't stop smiling with my hormones on the swing.

But suddenly, distress engulfed me as she looked melancholic. What had happened to my girl? Her eyes were swollen and her face was dull, which made me upset, but still, she looked pretty with her big black eyes, wavy hair tied into a pony, and small lips. She is now more cheeky and chubby compared to the past making me crave to pinch her cheeks. Whatever may be the sadness you are experiencing right now, Meera, I will make sure to keep you happy for the rest of your life.

I knowingly went opposite her direction, to gain her attention, but she seemed to be lost in something.

So, I decided to direct her attention toward this charming man, Harsha and I intentionally bumped into her.

"What the hell! Can't you see and walk mister?" Meera snapped in fury.

"I am in a hurry. Hope you don't mind, miss." I said softly, ceasing my smile.

The moment I said, she turned and saw my face. My heartbeat suddenly accelerated against my chest and felt as if my breath was going to halt. But to my shock, she started to walk away from me.

What the! How can she ignore me, man?

How can one ignore this charming, stylish, and handsome person? God, I am going crazy but tried again to gain her attention.

"Hello, excuse me!" I said standing behind her.

After a minute, she turned around and stood there expressionless, as if she saw an accident.

Did she forget me? How can she forget me? No, It's not like that. Maybe she is recalling my memory or maybe she has fallen for me at first sight. Wow! But why is she silent and standing like that? What's happening?

Once again, I started "Hello, miss!" I squeaked.

"Yeah!" She finally left silence.

Ugh! Thank God!

"So, did you get me? I was in a hurry so collided with you unknowingly. Hope you don't mind." I told them shortly.

"It's fine.." She looked irritated.

Then I started to move away from her but turned again to her and examined her from head to toe.

"What?" She snapped.

Then she asked if she looked familiar to me so did she know me? Great! I can say she is gonna tell me that she knows me.

But instead, she taunted me saying if I felt that I knew her, I should think about that not her.

She is correct. But what she is unaware of is that it was pre-planned. I always wanted this, to act like that I don't know her.

I explained that I was not able to remember her, so asked her. Then I was awestruck by her answer!

"Wait, after five minutes of our talk, I too got that feeling that I know you but am unable to remember you." She said softly.

What the hell, man! How can she say that? How can she outgo my expectations? How did she forget ME?

I was angered, frustrated, and disappointed but managed myself, not to exhibit.

Then I convinced her to introduce ourselves. I acted as if I remembered her when she took her name and then she also recognized me by my parent's name, not mine.

This is disturbing, she doesn't even remember my name. She is not at all like what I thought about her formerly.

Then I asked her to guide her to their home and explained the reason.

It's true. This route is confusing and yeah, I'll get more time to spend with her.

"Actually! I have some busy work to do." She stopped in the mid-sentence.

How dare she be! I asked her a genuine favor and she showed me attitude.

"But don't worry, I will help you as you are our past Neighbours and also guests for today." She smiled.

Her goddamn smile! All my frustration, anger, and disappointment just got erased seeing her smile. We then walked together to her home.

She is so close to me that I can smell her hair shampoo, it's enchanting! Felt like I was in heaven walking with her.

At last, we reached her house, and suddenly all were shocked watching us together.

"Do you guys know each other before, I mean we never saw you talking and together in your school days?" My Mom asked raising one eyebrow.

"NO!" We both screamed simultaneously, then awkwardly exchanged glances and she parted from me. I explained the whole scenario that made us come together.

"Again, Harshu! It is his habit to forget the routes and get confused." All busted into laughter at once.

"Mom! Why do you embarrass me always?" I muttered, giving an angry look.

Meera turned to my side and giggled. Aah! That's the best part.

I greeted Aunty and Uncle and Meera greeted my Mom and Dad, who also took their blessings.

She is then searching for someone and suddenly our devil, I mean Urmi, hugs Meera from back by shouting her name. Meera jerked to her side and hugged her tight. Lucky girl. Wish I could be there in Urmi's place.

I sat on the sofa, and both my parents and her parents got busy with their usual talks.

Then, my sister dragged Meera to visit her room and I was all alone there.

It's been one hour and I don't know what these girls are doing in the room, they have not been out till now, and I felt bored.

Finally, I was relieved as Meera came back and started to arrange for lunch.

After that, we all ate together with laughs and conversations. Both families were very happy to meet after a long time and Meera sat opposite me.
I stared at her now and then and once she caught me looking at her, giving a confused expression for which I smiled awkwardly.

Oh, Harsha! Control yourself.

In the hall, suddenly a girl entered the house without knocking.

"Meer! What is this? You betrayed me, girl! How can you do this?  You have got a marriage proposal and haven't invited me, your best friend. That's not fair Meer!" Her overdramatic scream made everyone gaze at her with wide eyes.

"What! Shut-up Shre! They are our past neighbors and moved to this city, so came to visit us." Meera barked squeezing her shoulder.

"Oh, no! I misunderstood, Meer. Sorry, everyone." She apologized.

"It's okay, Shresta" Meera's Mom accepted her sorry and everyone felt relieved.

God! This girl just spilled magical words now, it might be a misunderstanding now, but one day it's going to be true, I smiled to myself.

After forbidding byes, we started to leave, and then Meera introduced Urmi to Shresta and also to me.

"You look so handsome, nice meeting you Harsha." Shresta extended her hand.

"Thanks, nice meeting you too." I shook her hand and gave a proud grin at Meera who rolled her eyes to the other side and tapped her friend's back. Then we left in the car.

She is beyond my expectations. I thought she would be naive and easy to handle. But no, It's not that easy with her. I have to do something more effective to make her fall for me. It's going to be fun though!

Such a long chapter it is...!!! But I enjoyed writing it, hope you guys do too...!
