CHAPTER 9
"You know, I've never heard of anyone who could do what you can," Pietro informed as we walked into the gym.
"Yeah, neither have I," I lied, thinking back to Kate Diane's diary. It felt like I was invading her privacy when I read it, but reading the beginning had only left me with more questions. Once that I could find the answers for in those damn books.
"You seem... Distracted, Veronica," he commented.
"Call me Vee," I offered with a smile; "Ready?"
"I will go easy on you," he promised, making me snicker.
"I will do the same to you, then," I decided. He looked at me.
"I am very fast," he explained. I rolled my eyes with a calm smile.
"Show me," I challenged; "Show me just how you'll take me."
He looked slightly uncomfortable before smirking and disappearing. I rolled my eyes before getting in a proper position to fight as Natasha had taught me.
Without even noticing Pietro, I felt my legs swooped away under me, leaving me in free fall.
I reached out with my hands for something to grab but found nothing.
It was only at the very last second Pietro caught me.
"I won," he mumbled as I struggled to get my breathing back to normal. His muscular arms surrounded me, and I got an idea.
Quickly I rolled around bringing him with me, quickly having him trapped beneath me.
I smiled with satisfaction until I noticed his confident smirk. Oh uh.
With his speed he quickly got up, leaving me to hurry after him so I wouldn't be left on the floor.
"Ready?" he asked me. I smiled.
Then once again, I felt the floor disappear underneath my feet as he for the second time that day lifted me up and ran. I shrieked in horror and hid my face in his chest while clinging on to him with my hands behind his neck.
Definitely should've closed my eyes.
"Okay okay, you win!" I screamingly agreed. I felt us slow down but still didn't dare to look away from his chest.
"Veronica, I do believe you can let go now," he mentioned with a small laugh. I slowly closed my eyes one at a time before turning my head and seeing we were back in the gym.
"Oh," I mumbled as I slowly jumped down from his arms.
"Are you okay, Veronica?" he asked kindly. I nodded.
"Definitely. Although, I think that's enough training for today," I decided. He nodded.
"Wanda," Pietro greeted as he entered her room.
"You're back soon," she commented, her accent having already adjusted to America. Pietro nodded as he looked out the window with the view of the skyline.
"It's beautiful," he commented.
"It's not the only thing you find beautiful here, though, is it?" she commented as she walked up next to him.
"You have been reading my mind," he stated, making his sister smile.
"Not my wish, dear brother. Your thoughts have never been as loud as they are these days," she explained.
"I want you to stop," he stated emotionlessly. Wanda made a small smile before she replied.
"Then just stop thinking about her. Only then your thoughts will be quiet enough for me to ignore," she decided.
"I have not known her for long. You are overestimating my mere attraction and acknowledgement of her beauty as a crush, sister," Pietro explained.
"Or you are underestimating your crush as mere attraction and acknowledgement of her beauty," Wanda suggested calmly.
"How about this one." I could see my dad lift a piece of paper up in the corner of my eye.
"Perfect," I mumbled and kept scrolling.
"Veronica, what are you doing that's so important?"
"PR," I claimed calmly.
"JARVIS?"
"She's on twitter, sir," the AI responded.
"Oh come on, Big J, I thought we were friends," I cried while still looking at my phone.
"I am sorry, miss, but I am not capable of having friends," JARVIS stated.
"Yeah. Because you're mean," I mumbled to myself; "And this is technically PR. You should start paying me."
I looked through the tweets I'd been mentioned in and responded to a few.

"Can we invite Jd97?" I asked my dad out of the blue.
"Who is that?" my dad mumbled from his seat by the dining table.
"Idk some guy on twitter. You said I could invite anyone," I pointed out.
"Yeah. And then you didn't. The party's in less than two months, we had to send the invites before people got booked," my dad explained.
"Right. They'd never make room for one of Tony Stark's legendary parties," I agreed sarcastically.
"Funny. Do you have any last comments before we send the invites?" he asked and handed me the invite. I received the white paper, and noticed as the first thing the thick material.
"It's the expensive paper," I commented.
"Yes. I am a billionaire," My dad stated and continued looking at the papers in front of him.
"I had not noticed that," I replied sarcastically. (AN: I WAS SO FUCKING cLOSE TO WRITIN NO SHIT SHERLOCK JUST BECAUSe)
"Looks good," I decided before handing it back; "Although, most kids my age would rather have parties that weren't at their own homes."
"Most kids your age don't live in Stark Tower, voted the best place for a party by four different magazines," my dad pointed out while snatching the invite from my hands.
"Most kids my age don't read magazines," I mumble to myself as I pull out my phone again.
"Sure they do. That's your thing," My dad claimed.
"You know, out of all people, I'd expect you to know about the internet," I joked before sending my dad a smile.
"Funny. I need you to pick up the invites," he ordered.
"What? I only just approved them! They can't be done yet, plus, I didn't think Tony Stark got his own invites instead of sending someone," I argued.
"He doesn't. He sends you. Get your butt moving."
I stuck my hands in the pockets of my Armani jeans as I took the elevator to the common floor, hoping on finding someone funny to bring with me.
"Guys, it's your favorite Stark!" I called out happily as I entered the hallway; "I need someone to help me carry some stuff. Who will have the honour of spending time with me?" I asked as I entered the living room, finding only Steve, Natasha and Wanda. Steve sighed as he folded the newspaper in his lap together.
"I'll come with," he decided and almost stood up before I interrupted.
"Uh, no, you will not. You'll get recognised," I argued.
"I'll just wear-""A cap and a hoodie? Yeah, no, won't work."
"Just get Happy to take you," Natasha suggested; "You'll need someone to protect you anyway." She shrugged as I sent her an evil glance.
"Do not. I am an Avenger now, I'll have you know," I said proudly to Natasha, who didn't look the least bit impressed.
"Pleaaaase Naaaat," I begged and folded my hands in a prayer.
"Yeah, I would, but I don't want to," she stated smugly and smiled. I rolled my eyes before turning to Wanda and making puppy eyes.
"As flattered as I am to be third choice, I would, but I do sadly not have time. You could ask my brother, I'm sure he would love to accompany you," she suggested with a smile.
"First of all, you were sixth in live actually, but I'm gonna go get your brother, who is number seven, right away," I decided and turned around.
A knock on his bedroom door made Pietro look up from his book in the very second it opened.
"Veronica!" he stated as he stood up abruptly, not even entirely sure why.
"Hey! So, my dad needs me to go get some invites and I was kind of hoping I could convince you to come help me carry them?" Veronica explained with a smile.
"Oh, you, you wanted me to come?" Pietro asked as he closed his book and placed it on the night table before walking Veronica out the door.
"Well, I was hoping on bringing your sister, but she said she couldn't go, so here I am," she explained with a small laugh as she waited for him to get his jacket on.
"Oh," he mumbled to himself without Veronica noticing.
Natasha, however, caught up with them in the lobby.
"Hey, Veronica! Good thing I caught you. Steve just reminded me I actually have an errain of my own, so I can take you," she offered with a smile. Her green army jacket suited the red hair amazingly, and the white shirt beneath gave it the perfect mix of innocence and badass.
"You can just stay put," she mentioned to Pietro, who opened his mouth to reply.
"No! Now I want him to come. We can just go all three," Veronica stated with a shrug before leading the way. Pietro felt a red color rise to his cheeks thanks to Veronicas words.
Surely she didn't mean anything with it, he thought to himself before noticing Natashas stare.
"Veronica wants me to come," he stated, trying to hide his smile.
"Uh uh," Natasha agreed, folding her arms across her chest.
"Guys, come on!"
As Pietro and Natasha caught up with the little Stark, Pietro felt a smile sneak onto his lips.
She wanted him to come.
