Astrid's POV

We were finally back home at Berk. Hiccup was greeted by everyone once he landed, followed by lots of questions about the chief meeting. He would talk with the villagers and answer most of their questions, and soon after, they all dispersed back to what they were doing. We walked back home and got greeted by Gobber and Valka.

"Oh hey mom, hey Gobber, what's up?" Hiccup asked.

"Just saying hello to my son that just got back from a 3-day chief meeting." Valka said and gave Hiccup and hug.

"I'm here because I was going to say hello to the chief. And tell him about another meeting next month." Gobber said.

"Oh come on I just got back!"

"You still have a month Hiccup." I said. He sighed and ran his fingers through his hair. Oh I love it when he does that.

"Yes but I would love more then a month before I have to leave again! How long is this one going to be?"

"This one is about a two-day boat trip so it'll be one day in dragon. It's a 3-day meeting." Gobber said.

"So I'll be gone for five days?"

"Indeed."

"Fine. At least I still have a month." He sighed and went upstairs. Gobber and Valka said goodbye to me and I went upstairs to see Hiccup laying over both sides of the bed.

"Are you okay?" I asked and sat down on the edge.

"I think so." He said and sat up, then moved to his side so I could move from the edge. "I just don't want to go to another one of those meetings. Do you know how many looks I got?" He said.

"Well yeah I mean you do have a dragon walking right next to you and it happens to be a night fury."

"It wasn't just because of Toothless Astrid. It was because of, well, this." He started pacing then turned to face me, and gestured to all of him. "Nobody thought the son of 'Stoick The Vast' would look like me." He slumped back onto the edge of the bed with his back turned to me. I crawled over and sat beside him.

"But nobody expected the son of Stoick the Vast to be as great as you are." I said and put another braid in his hair. "Just go to this next meeting with your head held high okay?"

"You know family is allowed to come to these meetings." He said and faced me.

"What?"

"Yeah I asked the chief of Skye Island and he said all meetings allow family members! Would you come with me Astrid?" He said and grabbed me hands.

"Hiccup I would love too! Maybe I can help you pay attention." I said sarcastically. He smiled and planted a passionate kiss on my lips before running into the other room.

"And this one is coming too." He said while holding Mercy.

"Hiccup is that smart? I mean these islands could be dangerous."

"Please these are held on the safest islands. Most of the time they haven't been to war in over 50 years."

"Alright she can come." I gave in.

"Yay!" He cheered and jumped around with a giggling Mercy in his arms.

"You're like a little kid again. Come on let's got to bed you have chiefing to catch up on tomorrow." I said and wrapped myself in the blankets. He came in and stopped by the bed for a second. "What's wrong?" I asked.

"Oh it's nothing serious just one of the floor boards is cracked right here. I'll fix it tomorrow let's just get some rest." He climbed into bed and soon enough, we were both asleep.

~the morning~

I woke up at about 7:30 and Hiccup, was already gone. I figured he was downstairs making breakfast but when I went down there, he wasn't there. The house was empty. I opened the front door and didn't see anyone in the square either. Okay something weird is going on here. I went back upstairs and got into my normal clothes, grabbed Mercy and her blanket, and walked outside. I walked around the square and through the neighborhoods to find someone. I decided to check the forest just incase something happened and everybody went to the cove. As I was walking I heard footsteps that were uneven. I only know two people with uneven footsteps...

"Astrid thank Odin you're okay I was just coming back to get you!" Hiccup said and engulfed me in a hug.

"Yeah I'm alright what's going on?"

"The ocean froze over again. Speed stingers are back."

"Wait seriously? How many people got frozen?"

"Only a few villagers and Snotlout. I got everyone to the cove just in time but I was out checking on the dragon farms and there was a huge commotion and everyone flocked to the cove but I needed to come and get you." He ranted.

"Hiccup calm down both of us are fine. Where's Stromfly?"

"She's at the cove with the others and helping protect the villagers."

"Okay how long until we can get rid of the speed stingers?" I asked.

"All I need to do is have the gang help me with catching the leader and melting the ice bridge. You're staying in the cove with Stormfly and the villagers." He said. I was about to protest but we got to the cove. "Ok gang we have to find the lead speed stinger, cage it, and get it over the ice bridge then melt the bridge. Shouldn't be hard right?" He said.

"No it'll be easy. The only hard thing will be finding the speed stingers nest." Allysa said.

"They're usually in caves so let's check all the caves around the village they stay near their source of food." Fishlegs said. They all got on their dragons and flew off, leaving me in the cove with panicking villagers.

Hiccup's POV

We were all split up, checking every cave we can think of for speed stingers. I walked out of my cave and got back in the air, until I saw the signal that the nest was found. It was a crimson red plasma blast. Allysa must've found the nest. I flew over and landed next to Violet. (A/N: I went back and changed it to Violet because I keep typing Violet instead of Viola so this will just be easier😊)

"Find it?" I asked.

"Well that's a stupid question why else would I signal." She sassed.

"It's just a question.."I said.

"Ok who has the cage?" Allysa asked once everyone landed. "You guys forgot the cage didn't you." She said.

"Yep." The twins said.

"Okay Allysa you go back to the village and get the cage from the forge we'll stay here and try to be unseen by the speed stingers." I said.

"Why me?"

"You have the fastest dragon after Toothless and we need that cage as soon as possible." I said.

"Okay I'll be right back. Don't let the speed stingers out of the cave!" She yelled as she and Violet fly off towards the forge.

"Okay the sun is going to be setting in about 15 minutes and the speed stingers hunt." I said.

"So what are we supposed to do stop the sun from setting?" Snotlout stated sarcastically.

"What if we made a fire wall at the mouth of the cave? They don't go through fire walls." Fishlegs suggested.

"That's perfect. Ruff and Tuff, let out some gas Snoutlout have Hookfang light the gas." I said.

"Why can't Belch light the gas?" Tuffnut asked.

"Because that will cause an explosion not a wall of fire." Fishlegs answered.

"But explosions are cool. And plus, it would probably scare them out of the cave and they'll run across the ice bridge, then we could blow up the ice bridge." Tuffnut said.

"Wait, Tuffnut that's, I can't believe I'm saying this, but that genius!" I exclaimed. "Ruff, Tiff, blow up that cave!"

"Gladly." They responded and Barf blew gas into the cave, then Belch released the spark and a giant fiery explosions emerged from the cave mouth. Speed stingers came rushing out and over the ice bridge in the ocean.

"Okay guys melt the ice!" I shouted as we flew after the speed stingers. There were multiple blasts of fire, then the ice split in two, and the speed stingers sped off back towards their island.

"What in Odin's name happened I was gone for five minutes?" Allysa shouted.

"A lot of explosions, a lot of running, and A LOT OF FIRE!" The twins said at the same time. Everyone stared at them blankly.

"Well were you expecting another response from the twins?" I asked.

"Well I shouldn't be surprised. Come on I'm sure Astrid is freaking out about you right now."

Sorry it took so long I had registration then orientation then it was my moms birthday and I went to a dance so I got really busy.
