~the day Hiccup leaves~

Astrid's POV

I woke up and remembered that Hiccup was leaving today. I felt sad of course because my husband was leaving but he'll be back in 2 days so I guess it isn't that big of a deal. I climbed out of bed and went downstairs for breakfast.i smelled eggs once I opened the door.

"Hiccup are you cooking again?"

"Yeah I think I'm doing good so far nothing is burned." He said and there was a slight pause "Nevermind." He said. I laughed and went into the kitchen. "I burned my eggs."

"Do I need to teach you how to cook?"

"Probably. But after I get back." He said and grabbed more eggs.

"Oh yeah I forgot you were leaving." I lied.

"I'll be back on Thursday safe and sound."

"When you say that you come back injured."

"It's gonna be different this time I promise!" He shouted happily.

~time skip~

"Be back safe okay?" I said as I kissed Hiccup's cheek.

"I promise." He said and mounted Toothless, then took off.

Hiccup's POV

It was about a two hour dragon ride to Skye Island. I sat back on Toothless's saddle.

"Well bud, we've got time for a few stunts." I said and turned his tail to automatic. He gave an annoyed grumble. "Oh shoosh." I said and slid off.

I dove straight down and did a few twirls. I looked around the ocean for any sign of Skye Island and noticed it about 5 minutes to the East. I opened my suit and flew towards the island. Once I landed I got a lot of weird looks from people. I assumed it was just because I was flying along side a dragon, so I walked towards the Great Hall.

"Ah Hiccup Haddock the new chief of Berk. Nice to see you."A man greeted. "I'm Stuart, Chief of Boarhead Island." I shook his hand. "And I've heard about the trained dragons thing." He said and eyed Toothless.

"He's friendly I promise." I said. He pointed to an empty chair. I sat down in it. It was quite large, so obviously made for my father. I barely took up half of it.

"UGH I HATE THESE CHIEF MEETINGS!" Someone shouted as they burst through the door. I looked forward and saw none other then Dagur. Of course he would be here. "Hiccup? What are you doing here?" He asked bitterly with a bitter expression.

"I'm Chief of Berk now Dagur." I said and stood up. He's still taller then me.

"Ah well congratulations." He said angrily and walked across the hall to his chair. I'm glad I don't have to sit anywhere near him.

"Alright now that everyone is here we can begin. We will have to go through introductions since we have our new chief here today. I'll start. I'm Neil, Chief of Skye Island."

"I'm Timothy. Chief of Spout Island."

~time skip~

After we were done with introductions we started talking about actual chiefly things. I really don't think anyone else payed attention because they just kept staring at me and Toothless. I stood up and spoke.

"Okay yes I have a Night Fury next to me and yes I'm small so can we get over it and actually pay attention?" Everybody just had blank stares. "Sorry Neil. Please continue."

"Let's pick up where we left off tomorrow. I think all of us need some rest." Neil said and everyone cleared out leaving me with Toothless and Neil.

"Hey Neil sorry for interrupting you I just am getting really tired of everyone staring at me and Toothless."

"It's nor problem Hiccup. Nobody thought the son of Stoick the Vast to look like, well, that."

"Thank you for gesturing to all of me." I said a little angrily.

"Sorry but it's true."

"Yeah. Well I better get some rest. See you tomorrow Neil." I said and walked out with Toothless to the spare house that I was told to go to. It was about the size of a normal village house back at Berk, so it could easily fit Toothless. I went upstairs to the bedroom and sat down. I took out a piece of paper and pencil. I wrote a note to Astrid and tied it to a Terrible Terror, then sent it out the window. I then layed in the bed and fell asleep.

~morning~

I woke up to the sun shining brightly through my bedroom window. I stood up and noticed a green Terrible Terror sitting on the windowsill. It had a note tied to its foot, I assumed it was a response from Astrid. I untied the note and opened it while the terror climbed on my shoulder. It read,

Dear Hiccup,

I understand that you have to stay one more day. Everyone here at home misses you very much, especially me. Your mom doing great as temporary chief, much better then Gobber. We hope for your safe and speedy return. See you soon.

I smiled and put the note in Toothless's saddle bag. I heard the horn that told the chiefs to come back to the meeting so I headed downstairs and outside, followed by Toothless who looked exhausted. Once I sat down in my specified chair Toothless wrapped his tail around the chair and laid down, and slept. I almost forget about the little terror on my shoulder.

"Oh come on how many dragons did you bring?" Dagur said and angrily. Why is he always so angry?

"Just Toothless and him." I said and scratched the terror under the chin. He purred with happiness.

"Dagur enough they're trained. Right Hiccup?" Neil said and looked at me.

"Perfectly trained. This one even carries notes between islands." I said as the terror climbed around my head.

"Alright. Let's get started. We left off yesterday at peace treaty's." Neil began.

~time skip that stuff is kinda boring and I can't think of anything~

Once the meeting was over everybody said goodbye to the other chiefs and began sailing home. As for me, I mounted Toothless and began to fly. He was well rested since he slept through the entire meeting. Just two more hours and I'll be back home.

~two hours later~

I reached Berk and landed in front of the academy. I heard from mom that they had training today so I decided to surprise Astrid.

"Okay today is just a simple race from here to dragon island since we don't have much time Hiccup is expected to be back in a few hours so let's go." She said and turned around.

"You're not leaving me out right? You know how much I love a good dragon race." I said and stood straight up since I was leaning against the entryway to the academy.

"Hiccup you're back!" She shouted and pounced onto me, engulfing me into a bear hug. She pulled back, but still had her hands around me neck while I had my hands around her waist. I planted a passionate kiss on her lips.

"Ugh come on guys we've got racing to do you can suck faces later!" Snotlout interrupted. We pulled apart and awkwardly stood for a second.

"Get your journals ready because you're going to want to take notes." Astrid sassed and mounted Stormfly. I got on Toothless and we all took off.

I was ahead of everybody, no shocker there. Astrid was closing the gap between us, but I opened Toothless's tail so he sped off, leaving a cloud of air behind us. I landed at dragon island about 2 minutes before Astrid. And about 1 minute later, everyone showed up. Even Fishlegs.

"Good race guys." I said.

"Easy for you to say you've got a Night Fury you're gonna win every time." Snotlout said, annoyed.

"How many times do I have to tell you guys these races are not competitions!" I shouted.

"Uh yeah they are." Ruffnut said.

"Competitions are the fabric of life!" Snotlout said.

"Okay Snotlout that doesn't even make sense." Astrid said. "But he's right. Surprisingly"

"What do you mean surprisingly?" Snotlout said, obviously offended at Astrid's remark.

"You know what I mean." She said.

"I think we should have a dragon training competition." Fishlegs said.

"Again? We already did that with all of the Terrible Terrors a few years ago." I said.

"Well maybe we should do it again. But challenge ourselves more. Terrors are easy. But what if we each trained a Monstrous Nightmare or a Deadly Nadder?" Fishlegs said.

"Well for example if we did do this dragon training and we chose Nadders, wouldn't Astrid have an advantage since she owns a Nadder and knows how to train them better then the rest of us?" I pointed out.

"You're right. So that's not going to work. What if we find 6 of the same dragon that none of us have and train it?" Fishlegs said.

"We could check my moms sanctuary. C'mon let's take a little trip."

Well technically not in a day because where I live it's 12:30 in the morning right now so...

Anyway I'll get started on the next chapter right now I'm just super bored so I'm writing.
