Chapter 34
Hiccup's POV
"Okay that board a little bit higher." I said to Allysa and Fishlegs who were helping us board up our house.
"Hiccup does your mom want to stay with us during this? She seems like she could use some company." Astrid said as she walked up behind me.
"I'll go ask her but I won't force her here. It wouldn't be fair."
"Okay but hurry back."
"I will." I said and flew with Toothless to my moms house. I landed at the botthomof her steps, walked up, and knocked on the door. She opened it with a smile.
"Oh Hiccup I wasn't expecting company. Come in." She said. I stepped inside. "What brings you here?"
"Well I think there might be a storm coming so Astrid and I were wondering if you needed some company while we bunker down?" I asked.
"That would be lovely but I couldn't possibly invade."
"Mom it isn't invading if I invite you."
"I'll be okay Hiccup. I've got Cloudjumper." She said as he turne dhis head behind her.
"I won't make you do anything but if you cange your mind, you know where to find me." I said. SHe nodded and I walked back outside to Toothless. I climbed on his back and we flew back to the house, Once I landed, Astrid came up to me.
"What did she say?" She asked.
"She said she'll decide tonight and get back to me. Any word on how big the storm is going to be?" I asked.
"Well if you stay very quiet you can hear Bucket from here." She said.
"Great this is going to be as bad as the one we were stuck in a few years back." I said.
"Oh yeah when we had to get all of the animals and the dragons protected us with their wings." She said (Dreamworks Dragons: Riders of Berk, Season 1 episode 3, Animal House.)
"Yeah that one."
"If that's the case we'll be inside a while. The village knows right?"
"Already told them. Most of them had already heard from Mulch though."
"So I'm assuming that means Mercy will be back soon?" Astrid asked.
"Isn't she in the house?"
"I thought she went to get some food for us and tell anyone that hadn't heard."
"Oh great the this isn't what I needed right now." I mumbled under my breath. "Astrid stay inside in case the storm comes while I'm gone."
"What where are you going?" She asked.
"I'm going to find her just stay in the house I don't want you freezing."
"I don't want you freezing either! Hiccup she's just getting food she'll be right back!!"
"That's what we thought when she went missing Astrid!" I shouted. She seemed a little stunned at my sudden outbreak. "Stay here Astrid." I said with a calmer tone.
I walked down the hill and to the food storage. I pushed the doors open and saw Villagers gathering things in baskets. I walked through and saw Mercy gathering some fish while Cody gathered eggs.
"Mercy you had me worried sick!" I said and grabbed the basket from her hands and started walking out the door. "Come on you need to get home."
"Dad I was just gathering supplies this is what mom told me to do!" She said.
"And now I'm telling you to come back home. The storms going to be here any minute now and you will be in the house when that happens!" I replied.
"I haven't even gotten half the things we need yet! Do to really expect me to leave when we only have half of what you guys wanted?"
"I will get the rest of the food now I want you home." I said. I turned to Gobber who was standing behind me. "Make sure she gets there." I said. Gobber nodded as Mercy slumped and walked out the door.
Mercy's POV
"Why wouldn't he listen? He usually always listens to me." I said.
"He's just worried. There's a storm coming and worried about being targeted by whoever kidnapped you. He's got a lot on his mind Mercy." He said.
"That doesn't stop him from listening though!" I snapped.
"Once he's at home he'll calm down. I've known that boy since he was in diapers. In fact I made his diapers."
"Yep thanks Gobber." I said and pushed the door to my house open, then shut it behind me.
"Where's Hiccup?" Mom asked.
"Well aren't those famous words around Berk." I said.
"You have a point there. But where is he?"
"He finished filling the food baskets and sent me back here." I said as mom walked into the kitchen. "Mom where you going?"
"I'm hungry. You hungry?" She said.
"No my after that whole incident." I said.
"What incident?" She asked as she say down with soup. Again. For the love of Thor I swear this woman eats nothing but soup.
"Well dad just seems worked up about something. A little too worked up if you ask me." I said.
"He'll cool down."
"That's exactly what Gobber said. Of course I believe you guys you've known him longer then I've been living but I've never seen him this way."
"Oh don't read into it he's worried about the storm and everyone's safety. The family especially." She said and sipped her soup.
"Ok. How long do you think this storm will last?"
"A while. We could be completely buried in snow when it's over. There's no way of telling." She said.
/~time skip to that evening~\
Hiccup's POV
We were all sitting at the table eating dinner. Astrid waging her usual soup, me eating fish and Mercy eating chicken. The dragons ate fish and chicken as usual. The fire pit in the center of the room was lit nice and bright, giving off comfy waves of heat. I cleared my throat and everyone's heads perked up.
"Everyone alright? It's awfully quiet." Astrid asked.
"I'm okay." Mercy said.
"I'm alright. What about you Astrid?" I asked.
"I think I'm okay." She replied. I looked at her and signaled to her, saying it was time. She gave me a small nod, then took a deep breath.
"Mercy we've gotta tell you something." I began.
"Oh great what did I do now?" She said.
"You didn't do anything." I said. "We just have to tell you some news." I said then looked at Astrid.
"Mercy, you're going to be an older sister." Astrid said. Mercy's eyes widened, but that was it. There were no words or anything. Just a shocked look.
"Really?" She managed. We both nodded and she smiled.
Mercy's POV
I CANT BELIEVE IT OH MY GODS I'M GONNA BE AN OLDER SISTER! I don't know how to react right now. Should I be excited? Should I be nervous? What if I have to take care of my sibling but something happens it'll be all my fault! Okay Mercy calm down. Nothing will go wrong. I thought to myself as I paced around my room. Other then the wind howling outside, the house was silent. Everyone was asleep. Even the dragons. Everything will be find Mercy. You're going to do great.
/~the morning~\
Hiccup's POV
I woke up slightly to Astrid repeatedly tapping my shoulders. She would also tap my back and face in attempts to wake me up. Once I finally opened one of my eyes, she stopped poking me.
"Yes?" I asked with a groggy morning voice.
"Hi." She said and rested her head on her pillow and faced me.
"Good morning Milady." I said and kissed her forehead, then readjusted myself so that I was more comfortable.
"Hey babe I have a favor to ask you." She said.
"What is it?"
"Can you make me some food?" She asked with a small smile. I looked ah her and raised an eyebrow. "Please." She begged. "Pleaseee. Pleaseee." She said with a childish tone. I let out a small laughter an climbed out of bed.
"The usual right?" I asked.
"Yes please." She said with a wide grin. "Thank you babe!" She said as I walked downstairs. I walked into the kitchen and went to the cupboard and grabbed a bowl and spoon. I started to heat the soup that she keeps as leftovers over the firepit. I sat by the pot and constantly stirred it so it all cooked correctly.
"Geez mom more soup? Oh sorry dad." Mercy said as she walked downstairs.
"If you're wondering this is for your mother." I said with a small smile.
"Why is she always eating soup?"
"Little sibling Mercy." I said.
"Right." She said and went into the kitchen, then came back out with a fish. "After my breakfast I'll be in the forge." She said while rotating her fish.
"What are you going to be doing?"
"Fixing my bow and helping Gobber. He asked me to help him with dragon teeth. Apparently he has appointments through the roof." She said and took her fish off the fire and examined it, then took a bite.
"Alright but be safe and listen to Gobber." I said.
"Oh please when do I not listen?" I raised my eyebrow. "Don't answer that." She said and walked out of the house. I took the pot of soup off the fire and put it in a bowl. I then walked back upstairs to our room.
"Ah you don't know how much I love you right now." Astrid said and grabbed the bowl of soup from my hands.
"Yeah yeah." I responded with a laugh then sat on the bed. "Mercy went to the forge for a little while. Says she's fixing her bow and helping Gobber out with dragon teeth."
"Did you tell her to be safe?"
"When do I not?" I replied.
"You know she gets her stubbornness from you." Astrid said flatly and took another bite of soup.
"What can I say? I'm stubborn I'll gladly admit that."
"Sometimes stubborn isn't a good thing. It can get you into trouble."
"I think I would know that by now." I said with a slight smile.

Wow that's a long update.
I think.
Like halfway through writing it I switched to the iPad so I can't tell how long it is.
Anyway, I don't really have anything else to say.
Besides I have an archery competition of Sunday so no updates on Sunday :(
See you in the next update!
