Chapter 28
Hiccup's POV
I woke up in the morning and noticed Astrid wasn't in bed. I got up and looked downstairs, but she wasn't there either. So I went upstairs to get into my armor and check the village, when I heard her in the bathroom.
"Astrid you okay?" I said and knocked on the door.
"Yeah you can come in Hiccup." She said. I opened the door slowly. "I hate being pregnant." She said as she looked at me. I walked over and sat next to her, and rubbed her back.
"You've gotten through this once and I'm sure you can do it again. You're Astrid, the bravest, strongest, and most beautiful girl in the whole world." I said and kissed her cheek. She smiled and stood up shakily. I helped her walk back into the bedroom, and she layed down.
"I could really go for some breakfast I haven't eaten all day." She said and jumped up, then started pulling me down the stairs and towards the Great Hall.
"Uh Astrid what about Mercy? Isn't she still at the house?"
"No she went out with Ethan, Agnes and Stormfly. She said something about training in the forest." She said and kept pulling me.
"Um alright as long as she has a dragon with her. And you can stop pulling me now."
"Oh my gods I'm sorry I didn't realize I was still doing that. You alright?"
"Yeah shoulder should pop back into place in no time." I said and wiggled my shoulder.
"Well let's just walk to the Great Hall I'm still starving." She said and we walked at a leisurely pace side by side.
Once we stepped inside the Great Hall we noticed only a few Vikings in here, along with the gang sitting at a table. Astrid grabbed more soup and I grabbed a fish, then we walked over and I squeezed between Allysa and Astrid.
"Morning guys." I greeted happily.
"Hey Hiccup." They said.
"We haven't seen you around for a while. What's going on?" Allysa asked curiously. I knew that Astrid told her about our second, but the rest of the gang doesn't know.
"Allysa is there something you're hiding from us?" Snotlout interrogated.
"Please me hiding something? That's less likely then Hiccup actually telling a good lie." She sassed.
"Am I really that bad of a liar?" I asked. Everyone nodded at the same time. "Sounds like I need to work on my skills."
"Okay Astrid what's with the soup you've been eating nothing but soup for a while now." Ruffnut asked. Astrid gazed at me and I nodded my head once, telling her to tell them.
"Well guys I'm-" she started.
"She's pregnant!!" Allysa finished excitedly. She quickly covered her mouth and widened her eyes. "Oops." She said once she took her hands off her mouth.
"Woah wait really?" Ruffnut asked as she held in a girly squeel.
"Yep." Astrid responded.
"Wow congratulations Hiccup and Astrid." Fishlegs said with a smile.
"A toast to the chief and his growing family!" Allysa said loudly as she stood and raised her glass. We all did the same and clanked our glasses together, then took a gulp. Once everyone swallowed and took a breath, we all burst into laughter. "So you guys up for a little training?"
"I'm always up for training. Anything to feed my inner warrior." Snotlout said arrogantly.
"Well let's learn a few techniques." I said.
"Wait Mercy took Stormfly I don't have a dragon." Astrid stated.
"I'm not sure training is safe for you right now anyway. You can ride with me on Toothless though." I said. She nodded and we walked out of the Great Hall. Once we landed at the academy after about 4 minutes of flying, everyone gathered around in a circle.
"So what's today's training exercise?" Fishlegs asked eagerly.
"What if we did some sort of search mission? Where you go and hide and your dragon has to find you." Astrid suggested.
"That's not a bad idea Astrid." I said.
"How will the dragons know when to find us though?" Allysa asked.
"I can send them out after a certain amount of time." Astrid volunteered.
"You sure?" I asked.
"Yeah it gives me something to do. I'll just walk with Toothless until we find you or someone else." She said with a smile.
"Alright. There is nowhere you can't go so find any place on the island and stay there until your dragon finds you." I explained as I set Toothless's tail in automatic in case he wanted to fly. "We have 5 minutes. Astrid will keep time on the clock on Toothless's saddle, then send out the dragons. Once you find one spot, stay there. No moving." I explained. They all nodded. "Alright then, let's go." I said and we all walked out of the academy.
Toothless's POV (so with this when the dragons are talking they're just talking to the other dragons, I just translated it.)
I waited beside Astrid in the academy as the others went and hid somewhere. I felt bad for Astrid, being left behind. But she is carrying that small human in her belly so I agree with the protection. She checked the clock.
"Alright guys it's been five minutes, now go find your riders!" She said and walked over to me. We can understand most of their words now that we've lived together for so long, but they can't understand us. "Alright Toothless, let's go find Hiccup." I gave her a gummy smile and she hopped on my back. I walked out of the academy just for safety reasons.
I first decided to check the forest for Hiccup. He usually ends up here. I trotted around and sniffed the air for any scent trail of the human. I picked up a faint one heading towards the cove. I quickly trotted towards there, following the scent. It abruptly turned right, then left, then right again. I came to a spot where it was the strongest, but there was no one here. When suddenly there was the crack of a branch. I looked up and saw Hiccup sitting on a branch that was about to break. I flew up and grabbed him off just in time.
"Thanks bud! Now let's go find the others!" He said as I held him in my paws, then dropped him on his feet.
Allysa's POV
I was running through trees and thick brush, when I came upon a tall tree that I could climb. I grabbed hold of the lowest branch and pulled myself up, and slowly but surely, I got high into the tree. I looked down and saw Stormfly run below me. I decided I should follow her and see where she was headed. I jumped down and ran after her. She turned around and noticed me.
"Easy girl, I'm a friend of Astrid's." I said slowly and held out my hand. She tapped her nose into it and I rubbed her snout. "What wrong girl why are you in such a rush?" She squaked and ran in the direction of the trees Astrid uses for axe training. "Stormfly where are you going?!" I shouted.
I kept running through plants and low hanging branches until we stopped. I saw boot prints so I thought it must've been one of the others. I guess everyone had the idea to come to the woods. I heard a high-pitched scream come from my right side. I ran to the edge of the cliff and saw a ship. An enemy ship, and they were dragging someone onto it. I looked closer. Oh no. I ran to find the others, but didn't have to go far when I found Toothless, Hiccup and Astrid.
"You guys..." I said and panted. "I saw... Ships... Enemy ships... They had kidnapped... Someone." I managed.
"Easy Allysa. Who was kidnapped?" Hiccup asked as he dismounted Toothless and walked over to me.
"I couldn't really tell because I was far... But I think it was Mercy."

Hiccup's POV
"Gobber get everyone to the Great Hall right now." I commanded. "Astrid and Fishlegs, go get my mom she has a right to know about this. Everyone else, Great Hall." I said. "Allysa I need you to explain to me what the ship looked like." I said and sat down across from her at a table.
"Hiccup I was far away I couldn't get many details. The only detail that brought me to believe it was her, was because I found this by a trail of boot prints." She said and pulled out Mercy's bow from behind her. I grabbed it from her and looked at it. I then set it next to me.
"What else?"
"The ship was pretty large, about half a size bigger then a regular fishing boat."
"So they obviously only came for her. Anything else? Sail patters, boat material, what the guards were wearing?"
"Ah well there was something that looked like a Viking helmet on the sail but there was something else that I just couldn't make out." She explained with a pained expression.
"Okay thank you and don't worry, we'll bring her back here. I don't care what I have to do."
Mercy's POV
I woke up in a dark cell. It was cold and we were slowly rocking back and forth. Am I on a ship? I tried to talk but there was a piece of cloth in my mouth. I was chained by my hands and feet, so I couldn't go anywhere. They took all of my stuff, including the pencil I keep in my boot. I looked around my cell for anyway to at least get the cloth out of my mouth.
"Don't waste your time child. There's nothing in here and no way you're getting away. I know you escaped from Dagur the Deranged effort but you aren't getting away from me." A voice said. I couldn't see his face because it was dark, but he had a cold voice. It was deep, raspy, and sent the chills throughout my entire body with every word he breathed. I tried to ask who he was, but it was a pitiful mumble. He scoffed. "You aren't as smart as you look. Maybe I got the wrong one." The voice said followed by a series of footsteps fading away. I curled up on the ground and just layed there, letting a single tear drop from my eye and on to the floor.
What's going to happen now?
