Mercy's POV

It's weird having Ethan and Agnes here, but I guess they're nice. I mean Ethan is a little clingy, but at least he's nice. I wonder how long they'll be staying. I walked downstairs and saw mom at the table, reading a book.

"Hey mom." I said and grabbed a plate of fish from the kitchen.

"Oh morning Mercy. How did you sleep?"

"Pretty good. Oh guess what!" I shouted. She jumped slightly and looked up from her book.

"I made a new bow! But this time, I did something different then the traditional wooden bow. It's made out of metal!" I said cheerfully.

"Well don't just stand there let me see it!" Mom said and stood up. I ran upstairs and grabbed it from the corner of my room. I ran back down and showed her. "Impressive! How well does it shoot?"

"Really good actually. Better then my old one!"

"That's amazing! You should show your father he'd love that." She said. Oh yeah I haven't seen him all day.

"Okay! Do you know where he is?"

"I don't. Check the Great Hall first, then head to the farms if he isn't at the Great Hall." She said.

"Thanks mom!" I said and ran outside. I ran towards the Great Hall and saw that the doors were open. I went inside and saw Vikings eating, but no sign of dad. I ran over to Bucket and Mulch's farm to see if he'd come through here.

"Morning Bucket. Morning Mulch. Have you seen my dad anywhere?"

"Oh yeah he was just here with two other men getting the fresh batch materials." Mulch explained.

"Any idea where he went?"

"Ah he headed back towards the village, but that's all I know."

"Thanks Mulch!" I said and ran back towards the square. Where else would he be? I could check the academy. I started walking toward either and noticed a house with a giant hole in the roof. I noticed Allysa studying the hole.

"Allysa glad I found you I have two questions." I said.

"Oh morning Mercy. What are your questions?"

"First, what happened here?"

"That's what I'm trying to figure out. Looks like something crashed right through the ceiling. I'm thinking a Gronckle."

"Okay, and second, have you seen my dad?"

"Yeah he'll be here soon actually he's bringing us the wood to repair this." She said as she climbed down her ladder. "Oh snazzy bow you got there. Never seen one like it in my life."

"Oh thanks! I made it last night. I figured I might as well try something different."

"How well does it shoot?"

"Really nicely. Much better then the standard wood bow." I said. Right as. I finished, I saw Toothless fly over me, carrying pieces of wood.

"Ah there's the wood." Allysa said and climbed back up the ladder and began putting planks over the hole.

"Geez what happened here it looks like a boulder went right through the ceiling." Agnes asked as her and Ethan appeared at my sides.

"Close, dragon." I said.

"Is that normal?" Ethan asked.

"Yeah this happens a few times."

"Okay then."

"So how was your first day on Berk?"

"Pretty good. A dragon slept on our roof last night though. Agnes didn't sleep all night." Ethan said and laughed.

"Still terrified of dragons is she?"

"Totally. Anyway have you seen my dad at all today?" He asked.

"I haven't but I'll ask my dad." I said. "Hey dad I have a question!" I shouted. I saw his head peek over the side of Toothless.

"I'll be down in a second!" He shouted. I saw him set Toothless's tail in automatic and jump down. "What is it?" He asked once he landed.

"Ethan wants to know where his dad went."

"Now that you mention it I haven't seen him all day. Set up 2 small search groups. See if he went for a walk around the first or something." He said.

"Oh and another thing!" I said excitedly and grabbed my bow off my back. He turned around and gazed at the creation.

"Is this your design?"

"Yeah I made it last night."

"How it's performance?"

"Better then a traditional bow. The metal is sturdier and more accurate." I explained.

"Shoot it." He said and stepped back. I drew back an arrow and shot, hitting under a bread basket and pinning it to a house. "That's incredible Mercy! Go tell Gobber to tell the villagers those are avaliable! Those could easily replace the wooden ones." He said. I grinned widely and ran to the forge, followed by Ethan. Once I got to the forge I found Gobber working on saddles.

"Ah Mercy you here to take Hiccup's spot in making saddles?" He asked.

"Actually I'm here to tell you to make the announcement that metal bows are now avaliable." I said proudly.

"Well I hope you know that you're going to have to teach me how to make one of those contraptions." He said and pulled the leather.

"I have the designs in my office hold on." I said and ran to my office. I gathered all the papers I needed and brought them out to Gobber. "Here." I handed him the stack.

"Impressive. You definitely inherit that from your father." He said and turned back to stitching a saddle together.
