Chapter 8
School was officially over for the day. Harmony happily ran out of the pod to her parents as the light breeze blew through her messy hair. She jumped into Branch's arms who luckily caught her. It wasn't out of the ordinary for her to do this. Sometimes she did it with her mother too but, usually if she wanted one of them to pick her up, she would pull on their clothes first than go "Up" with open arms. Today was just one those special days of catch your kid. Harmony was just so happy to see her parents again and Branch and Poppy were just as happy to have her back.
" We missed you too,Sweetie. ", Poppy said adoringly.
Some of the other parents watched the Timberlakes as they waited for their children. They were aware of the fact that there was a Rock troll family staying in their village but, never thought they would see them outside the Grade R class. The Timberlake family,in a way, stuck out like a sore thumb in the community but, nobody was actually going to say something about it to them or behind their backs for the most part.
It wasn't like there was anything wrong with the Rock family. They just looked different from their version of different. It would had been rude to talk negatively about a family they didn't know or haven't met yet but, sadly not everyone in the village would be respectful or accepting over their obvious differences. Every rose had thorns unfortunately.
A random mother shook her head as she looked at Branch and Poppy. She couldn't hear what they were saying but,yet already had her own idea of how good they parent their child just over the fact Harmony's hair wasn't well tamed and groomed. It certainly wasn't a positive thought. Then her child ran to her unknowingly removing her attention from the now leaving family.
A few months later; Harmony was playing with one of her friends in her bedroom,Minnie. Minnie was Milton and Smidge's daughter and they had became friends long before attending the same Grade R class. Minnie had violet skin, light blue hair, blue nose and beautiful green eyes. Her dress was yellow and had a pink bow in her short hair. Her body was tiny like her mother. Minnie had taken after Smidge more than Milton in terms of body size.
Harmony's room hadn't changed much. Her crib was replaced with a single bed. There were more toys laying around on the floor. A nightlight next to her bed. Plus some of her drawings were pinned on the board on her wall near a whole Tea Party set, which included a foldable plastic table. The Tea Party set was a special birthday gift from her loving Grandma, Grandma Olivia. The room was messy just like any other five year old's bedroom. The two trollings laughed as Minnie placed her Princess doll on Croco's back. Harmony held her Rock Star doll placing a witch's hat on her favourite doll's head.
" You can't leave just yet. I have yucky Muffins!"
Harmony's attempt of sounding like a villian. It resembled Heavy metal singing without the music but, her face always made cutest expressions when using the voice. Most trolls didn't know how to react when she pulled out that voice but, her family and the friends of her parents, who she saw as her aunts and uncles, found it both funny and cute. Especially when the little Rocker unknowningly used it on an unsupecting victim. Minnie liked the voice since she would sometimes listen to her mother's heavy metal music when occasionally helping her mother with her workout.
" No!", Minnie refused both dramatically and happily.
The smaller girl took an head start and ran away from her best friend around the room with her Princess Doll riding Croco. Harmony wasn't running as fast as she could but, she was still fast enough for her ,now a witch, doll to catch to up with her victim. The innocent joy from their game was written all over their faces. Somehow neither of them fell or tripped during the playful chase.
" Come back and eat my yucky muffins!", Harmony exclaimed happily.
Then Minnie stopped in her tracks into a corner and turned around with a grin causing Harmony to stop as well. The Pop trolling lifted her Princess's arm up with the fixed hand pointd it towards Harmony's witch. The Rock trolling waited curiously for what Minnie had to add.
" I will zip - zap you with my - my Pretty Pretty Princess magic!", Minnie declared victoriously.
Harmony happily welcomed the idea by running in oppsite direction pretending that her witch was flying away trying escape her fate. Minnie laughed as she chased Harmony, who was trying to help save their villain from princess magic. The witch's voice actress jumped onto her bed but, quickly helped the princess's voice actress climb up before jumping off where she slept like a trampoline. A minor thump sound was created as she landed her feet onto the carpeted floor.
The bedroom door slowly opened revealing an shadow with the brigther hallway lights shining into the room. The children both paused their game and redirected their gaze, when they heard none other than Branch's voice. Minnie was still standing on Harmony bed.
" Harmony,It's time for Minnie to go home. "
" Awww...", Minnie and Harmony complained disappointed.
" Can she stay longer?", Harmony protested.
She locked eyes with her father while making the most adorable puppy eyes she master. Branch had forcefully remove his gaze from his daughter trying to break her powerful spell over him. Branch chuckled to himself knowing full well that Harmony knew what she was doing. Of course his daughter would pick up one of her mother's little spellcasting tricks that could break him.
Smidge was already downstairs waiting for Minnie in the kitchen with Poppy. As much as Branch loved his daughter, that didn't change the fact that it was still a school night so of course Minnie needed to go back home. It didn't matter how long Harmony pouted or gave him the puppy eyes. Minnie needed to go back to her mother.
" No but, you two can still play again tomorrow at school. Come on, Minnie. Your mother's downstairs. ", Branch reminded trying to not upset the two girls.
Harmony pouted while Minnie nodded her head before climbing off the bed. Moments later, Smidge picked up Minnie with her hair at the door. Harmony stood between her parents as they watched their guests prepared to leave. Minnie waved to Harmony as her mother bid them all a " Good night" then carried her away. Harmony did the same until her best friend was out of sight. Once the door closed, Poppy picked up her daughter and planted a kiss on her cheek. Harmony was still a little sad that Minnie had to leave.
" Don't worry. You'll get to play as long as you want with Minnie this weekend at her house. " Poppy said caringly.
Harmony's ears perked when she heard when the next playdate was. A hopeful smile graced her face while her adorable eyes lit. The trolling looked back and forth at both of her parents filled with a sudden burst of energy. Branch smiled adoringly as Poppy giggled over their child antics more than usual.
" Really?" Harmony asked excited.
" Yes. Now go bath and get ready for bed so me and daddy can finish reading your favourite bed time story. " Poppy said lightheartedly.
"Yay!"
The pink Rocker put her daughter back down, before she dashed up the stairs leaving her parents alone. Branch and Poppy both silently watched and waited until she was out of their sight and heard a door close shut. Branch wrapped an arm around his wife's shoulders as she smiled contentedly, pulling out an troll egg from her hair black and pink hair. The egg was grey blue with pink and brighter blue doodle pattern of skulls decorating it and a tuff of slightly reddish hot pink hair sticking out from the top.
" Do you think it's a good time to finally tell her?" Poppy asked softly.
" Well we can't keep hiding the egg until he hatches but, maybe we should wait to tomorrow... At least then she will still stay awake enough to listen...", Branch suggested unsure.
The mother gently hugged their egg as the father lightly stroked the hair with his thumb. They couldn't be happier over the fact that they were actually going to be parents again after trying for over a week. For a son too, according to their doctor. The couple weren't scared about having another trolling in their nest but, it still worried them if their decision to have one was made too soon.
Their friends already knew and so did their parents but, Branch and Poppy decided to wait longer to tell Harmony. They made sure to keep her out of the new baby room they only recent started working on so she couldn't ask any questions but, were they doing too much? Should they had just told her sooner like they did with everyone else? Was Harmony going to take the news of having a little brother well?
They didn't know...
