Chapter 10

Branch whipped his hair at the stairs snatching the runaway trolling by her hips. His dark hair swiftly wrapped around Harmony just as she almost reached the top step then brought her back down into her father's arms. Her brother's egg luckily was secure in the little girl's hands. Branch pulled both of his children closer to his chest. Pride washed over the mixed genre troll over his victorious capture.

" Got Ya! Where do you think your going,Missy?" Branch spoke earning an giggle from his daughter.

" I'll take Dave back. Thankyou!" Poppy announced walking right passed her family snatching the egg from Harmony.

Branch's pride and playfulness automatically left his body the second he heard that name. Their egg still didn't have a choosen name yet. Just like with Harmony, they were searching the perfect name for their children or at least reasonably decent name that they both liked. Branch did not find the name "Dave" appealing enough to even make it in the top ten names which they were still busy narrowing down to five for each of them. In fact Branch would had never put that name on his list but, his wife did with her own list. The father gently put Harmony down then sent her off up stairs silently to get ready for school.

"Seriously? Dave is still on the name list?" Branch said unimpressed.

" Ash? Asher?" Poppy suggested cradling their egg.

" I currently work with two as-... " Branch briefly glanced up to see their firstborn still in hearing distance as she climbed up the stairs. "A few guys named that... Yeah... Not too fond of those names anymore." He contuined.

" Then what do you suggest?" Poppy smirked.

Branch paused thinking mindfully. " Axel. "

" Nope! Can't see myself raising an Axel. " Poppy refused.

" Rebel?" Branch scratched the side of his head.

" Kinda overused. Don't you think?"

" Alexander? We can call "Alex" for short. "

" Not feeling it. " Poppy stated glancing down at the egg in her arms.

" Let's name him "Buttercup"!" Harmony chimed from upstairs.

Branch and Poppy did their best to hold in their laughter. There wasn't necessary anything wrong with a flower name like Buttercup but, they knew how much teasing they would have to fight the urge against if they did go with their daughter's suggestion. Buttercup was used in popular Rock tribe phrases that were just ways to poke or tease someone lightheartedly. The teasing would never end. Especially back when Branch and Poppy were in High School if you were named "Buttercup" the teasing was ruthless until the poor soul learnt to not react causing everyone else to get bored with it eventually. They didn't want the next poor soul to be their baby boy.

" Okay... What's your top five again,Popper?" Branch asked still trying to not laugh.

" Are we still sticking to names starting with A?" Poppy asked checking.

Branch paused trying to remember. " I think so but, not all of them have to though... Are we going to be theming this kid's name options like we did when trying to name Harmony?"

" Well we did go in a music direction for Harmony... Maybe we should give our baby boy a nature name like ours or element name? No. Not Buttercup. " Poppy chuckled.

The mother walked up the stairs to their egg's bedroom which was still incomplete. Her husband thought about following through with his wife's suggestion remaining in place. It wasn't like theming their kids' names caused any harm. It just helped both parents narrow down their options. They probably still end up arguing over what names they wanted to use and what they didn't like. The method wasn't broken so why not? It's better than their son being nameless by the time he actually hatches. Branch followed Poppy upstairs and found her in their's baby's nursery as expected. Poppy placed their egg in a nest of blankets and pillows in the crib. The same crib Harmony used to sleep in but, repainted with non-toxic psints so it's appearence was restored after being in storage for so long.

" So what element do you have in mind? Fire? Water?" Branch asked walking.

He joined his wife's side and began helping ensuring the nest was cozy and warm. His tattooed hand pulled the green baby blanket closer against the warm shell of the egg. Providing warmth was one of the most important tasks of caring for an egg. If the egg is too cold for too long it could stunt the trolling inside growth briefly or even worse said trolling would never hatch. The worse outcome would be a result of prolonged freezing over a span of days and Branch and Poppy were doing anything they could ensure their baby was warm. They even got an trolling egg heater that sat close to the restored white crib that they used for colder nights, like last night. It wasn't too cold but, still cold enough to want to break out extra blankets. The heater was still somewhat warm from running all night.

" Fire sounds good. " Poppy chirped still tending to the nest.

" Wanna repeat what we did to figure out Harmony's name?" Branch asked.

Poppy kissed Branch's cheek. " Okay. I'll go first. You already rejected "Ash" and "Asher" so Ablaze. "

" Flame."

"Sparky."

" Ember "

" Burnie. "

" Cinder."

" Blaze."

" Alev."

" Flint. "

"Cole."

" Rhys."

"Aiden." The couple suggested at the same time.

Branch turned his head to Poppy moving his hand away from their egg while Poppy unintentionally did so as well with the nest in a perfectly timed fashion. Both parents paused thinking over the name they both thought of. It wasn't too long and it wasn't too long. Aiden had the meaning of the word "Fire" basically. It was a good sounding boy name. Not just decent. They could imagine themselves yelling it out loud or saying around others without getting embarrassed. Plus the name wasn't going to put an target on their son's back. Mainly in Rock culture anyway. In Pop culture nobody seemed to care for the meaning of a child's name, except when it came to parents. They would care about their baby's name. Aiden was a perfect stand alone name.

" Aiden?" Poppy questioned.

" Aiden. " Branch nodded his head in agreement.

Poppy smiled softly returning the nodding approving of their name choice as well. Her fingers with great care brushed against skull patterned egg shell and the tuff of bright pink hair. Their slightly moved as if their son was reacting to his hair being touched. That one minor movement was a sign that their baby. Aiden was developing just fine. Aiden's tiny kicks may be weak but, that didn't make them any less powerful on his parents' heart strings.

" Hey Aiden. It's okay. It's just mommy. " Branch reassured lightheartedly.

" Daddy! Mommy! The Star Dragon gave us another egg!" Harmony suddenly exclaimed excited from downstairs.

Both Rock troll adults froze. Time seemed to slow down around them. Did Harmony just say the collection of stars which resembled a dragon dropped off an egg? An trolling egg? Were they mishear her? There's no way that there was another troll egg in the house and there wasn't one outside last time they checked. Maybe Harmony mistaken a bird egg for troll egg. Or at least that what Branch and Poppy hoped.

" I found it outside! It was in a box! Did my brother come in a box? Can we keep it? Mister dragon probably wants us to keep it. "

Harmony mid announcement came up the stairs carrying said box wandering around until she found Aiden's bady room. The box was open with no note,no address and only a single blanket wrapped around a still egg. The egg had green colour base with bright pink and sky blue hearts and lining pattern and tuff of purple hair. The egg's overall look resembled a Pop troll egg. The blanket was consistently sliding off the egg as Harmony kept trying to cover it up likenit orginally was before hse had unwrapped it. Harmony lifted up the box trying to bring it into her parents veiw with hopeful eyes that they could keep the second egg.

" WHAT?!" Branch and Poppy spun arpund wide eyed and their jaws hang out as their eyes darted to the unexpected egg.

AN: And so it begins... The angst!
