You Again

Jungkook's POV-

I first met Jin the summer between eighth and ninth grade. He had come to Busan to stay with Tae's family while doing a summer internship at a local up and coming photography studio.

When Tae had first told us his older cousin was coming I didn't think much of it but, in true Kim Taehyung fashion, the brat would not shut up about his favorite Hyung.

He practically worshipped the guy and basically made me dislike him before I even met him.

The closer it got to his arrival the more I realized that this wasn't going to be a perfect TaeJiKook summer like past years. I was going to have to share my friend as well as his attention.

So, in the most selfish way, I decided I wanted nothing to do with this cousin of Tae's.

The week he was supposed to be arriving I completely ignored my friend.

No video games, no trips to the ice cream shop, no laying in the backyard stargazing; nothing.

Tae noticed the change to our routine too but he was so preoccupied with his family getting things prepared for their guest he didn't have much time to be bothered by my childish attitude.

Then the day came when the infamous cousin was set to arrive.

I happened to be walking back to my house from the ice cream shop, mint chocolate cone in hand, when a familiar car passed by me before pulling into Tae's driveway a few houses ahead.

I immediately narrowed my eyes and slowed my strides to allow myself time to get a good look at this guy I planned to avoid at all cost that summer.

When the passenger door finally opened and a tall, dark haired, broad shouldered male stepped out, my breath hitched and my feet immediately stopped walking.

Frozen in place, I watched as his head moved along with his eyes as he took in the neighborhood and his surroundings until they finally lanndes on me.

His expression was unreadable for only a second before he broke into the brightest smile, one that may even dull the shine of Jimin's in comparison, raising his hand to offer a small wave.

I did nothing.

When I say I was frozen I mean it.

It's like my mind had no control over my limbs and I physically could do nothing but stand in that spot and stare at this perfect being, eyes wide in disbelief and mouth agape.

If that wasn't embarrassing enough, as if in slow motion, my legs began to thaw and I was finally able to move enough to stumble a few steps backwards, dropping my half eaten ice cream onto the ground before turning around to sprint away.

Not only did this probably look absolutely ridiculous, but it also took me the opposite direction of my house as I lived right across the street from the Kims.

So instead of running to my own house, which would have been much more logical, I ran to the house on the corner to hide behind a bush, where I hunkered down, peaking around it's branches every few seconds to check if or when the coast was clear.

I was behind that damn bush for a good fifteen minutes watching Tae, his father and the cousin unload the luggage from the family car before making their way into the house.

After another few minutes of waiting, to insure they were inside indefinitely, I sprinted back home to get inside as quickly as possible.

So yes, unfortunately I remember Kim Soekjin very well.

As I am recalling this memory I had averted my eyes away from the two in front of me.

When I move my eyes back up to my friends I see that they no longer have any signs of amusement on their faces, only confusion.

That's when I realized I hadn't actually said anything I had spent the last few minutes thinking about out loud.

They were still waiting for an answer.

I gulped down the lump in my throat before replying with a short, "Yes, I do."

Although the confusion did not leave their faces I heard Jimin slightly clear his throat so I directed my attention to him to hear what he had to say.

"Why do you look like you're upset? We thought you would be surprised to see Jin-Hyung but you look not just surprised but, I don't know... Sad?" He says softly while taking a few steps towards me to grab my hand.

"I'm just a little shocked, that's all. I haven't seen him since-" I pause before I say something that will invoke follow up questions before exclaiming,"You guys did good! You really got me" as I put on what I hope is a believable enough smile.

It seemed to have worked on Tae because his boxy smile made a return as he pumped his fist in the air in celebration that one of his pranks had been a success.

The guy loves an unexpected surprise. Good or bad.

Noticing Jimin still has a hold of my hand I give it a light squeeze while flashing another smile to ease his nerves. I could still see the crease between his brows and skepticism in his eyes though.

Trying to divert from the topic I point out that he is waiting and Tae's things won't pack themselves.

With that, the three of us made our way back to the house with Tae in the lead.

My heart is beating uncontrollably fast in my chest the closer we get to the door and I am thankful Jimin still has a hold of my hand.

Right now he is the only thing keeping me moving forward instead of turning around and running to a house up the street that I noticed had quite a beautiful landscape of shrubs in the front yard.

When Tae makes it to the door it is abruptly pushed open and the first thing we are greeted with is indeed a pile of bags, moving boxes, suitcases and shoe boxes that is nearly eye level with me.

The second thing to be noticed is the top of what looks like a head of hair that is only partly visible behind the top of the boxes.

For a split second I was thinking it was Jin, but the hair looked to be lighter in color. So light it's almost a grayish color.

Suddenly Tae closes the door behind us with a loud thud, making Jimin as well as myself flinch at the unexpected sound.

It must have startled the person on the far side of the pile as well because seconds after the door shuts a gasp is heard followed by a few things towards the top of the pile tumbling towards the floor.

Jimin and Tae are quick to reach forward to save any boxes from hitting the ground but just as I go to reach for a falling box in front of me I stop as I see a familiar face staring back at me.

Directly across, with only boxes and suitcases separating us, stands someone I really thought I'd never see again.

At least not in person...

Kim Namjoon.
