Two.
Two names. That's all I have left on my list. Tony and Henry. Both of whom are on the football team. Shouldn't be too hard to pick one and then I can finally be done with my bucket list.
'So have you decided yet?' Cherry asked, savoring our alone time before Cal and the rest of the football team get here.
Since his breakup with Carla, it's like he spends every spare second with me which is definitely not good for me because for starters, I'm not all that comfortable discussing project get-me-an-awesome-kisser in his presence. Secondly, having a hot guy around all the time usually messes with a girl's brain. Jeez, hasn't he read any clichéd romance novels?
I already had a crush on him, I don't need a repeat. Why is he doing this to me now that I'm finally over him? Seriously!
'So? Have you decided yet?' Cherry repeated.
'Sorry, I got carried away.' I flushed. 'I don't know. Guess I'll decide today. I'm leaning towards Henry though.'
'You better. Just three more days till high school's officially over.' She grinned. 'Oh and Henry's a much better choice.'
'Yeah.' I felt nostalgic. I'm gonna miss high school even though I don't want to admit it. Cherry is shipping of to Juilliard and Cal to Harvard and I'm going to Princeton.
'Here they come.' She pasted a smile on her face. I don't know how she did it but she somehow maneuvered everything so Henry, one of the two guys left on my list was sitting next to me. Cal frowned and shot her a dark look. I made a mental note to ask him about it later.
I gave her an incredulous look and she winked.
'What's up?' Henry nudged my side. He definitely falls under the cute category with his light brown hair and honey coloured eyes. Plus he always smells like freshly baked warm pastries. If he's the one I end up choosing, I hope he tastes like pastries too.
'Just hanging in there.' I smiled back at him.
'Cool. Josh is having a party tonight, wanna come?' He asked nervously running his hand through his hair.
'Yeah. Sure.' I grinned.
'Like a date?' He added.
'I'd like that.' A full on smile crept on to my face. He smiled back and his cute dimples made an appearance. Have I ever mentioned that I love guys with dimples? Especially the one who smell like pastries?
I shot Cherry a grateful smile and she gave me that see-I-was-right look that only best friends can pull off. My eyes drifted to Cal who was diligently glaring at us.
What now?
I caught up with him after lunch.
'Hey. What's up with you?' I asked.
'What do you mean?' He replied a little standoff-ish.
'You know exactly what I mean. You were glaring at Cherry and Henry throughout lunch. Murderously I might add.'
'I don't think he's good for you.' He shrugged. 'He's a player.'
'I'm looking for a guy to kiss me not a boyfriend.' I replied.
'I'm just looking out for you.'
'You don't need to worry. I'm not getting my hopes up or anything like that. It's just one kiss.' I said, touched that he was worried about me.
'Even though. You should only kiss guys who like you. You shouldn't kiss guys just because.'
'If I'm waiting a guy to like me then I'll waiting for a long long time.' I said dryly.
'Lily you are a very beautiful girl.' I tried to ignore the way my heart jumped at his words and moved unto a much safer topic.
'Why do you spend so much time with me lately anyway?'
'I like spending time with you.' Was his reply and butterflies filled my stomach.
Okay, not such a safe topic I see.
'What do you think I should wear to the party? A dress or I can stick with my jeans? Or a skirt?'
'You'll look beautiful no matter what you wear.' I internally groaned. Why does he keep turning this around?
'Much help you are.' I grunted. 'I have to go find Cherry.'
'See ya.' Before I could do anything to stop him, he stepped forward and placed a kiss on my forehead before walking away.
I stood there shell-shocked, trying to catch my breath, stop my racing heart and calm the horde of angry butterflies in my stomach. All at the same time.
Caleb, what the hell are you doing to me?
'I need you.' I said the moment I spotted Cherry.
She took one look at my panic stricken face. 'What's wrong?'
'Caleb friggin Grey. That's what's wrong.'
'What did he do?'
'Nothing. I mean something.' I corrected. She arched an eyebrow.
'He is doing all this small cute things. And I don't like it.' I huffed.
'You mean you like it but you don't like that you like it because it's messing with your head.' She deduced.
'Bull's eye. Why is he doing this to me now? You know how hard it was for to finally get over my crush on him. Anytime he did something cute I'd like him again. Poof, I'm back where I started. And now he's doing it again. Why?'
'Do you want my honest opinion?' She asked.
'I'm not sure.' I replied honestly.
I think he likes you. And I think he'll make a much better first kiss. He knows you much better than anyone. Even me. He's hot and he likes you. He can give you that heart stopping first kiss you're craving.' She stated.
'Don't encourage me!' I cried. 'I don't need anyone encouraging my crush. And he doesn't like me.'
'He so does. He has liked you since forever. Everyone with a pair of eyes can see that but you've somehow managed to convince yourself and him that all you'll ever be to each other is friends but I think this whole bucket list thing has brought things into perspective for him.'
'Please stop. He doesn't like me. He never will and I don't like him either.' I cried on a frustrated sigh . 'Stop giving me hope and putting ideas in my head.'
'You don't want to like him, do you?'
'Bingo. That's why I'm so serious about this kissing thing. I'm hoping if I get a mind blowing kiss, I'll finally be over Caleb for good. I'm falling again and he hasn't even done anything yet. I can't do this again Cherry. We're gonna have to speed everything up.' I said resolutely.
'How sped up?' A glint twinkled in her eyes.
'Tonight. I'm getting my first kiss tonight.'
